Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5 — Snow in July

It happened again.

Not as heavy.

Not as violent.

But enough to terrify her.

Three days later, Seoul experienced something impossible.

The temperature dropped suddenly.

Not across the city.

Only in a small radius.

Centered exactly around—

The Meteorological Bureau.

Seo-yeon was inside the archives room with Jae-hyun when the lights flickered.

A chill ran through her skin.

Her emotions had been unstable all morning.

Because he had been watching her more closely.

Because she had dreamed of five years ago.

Because guilt had been clawing at her ribs.

And because—

She still liked him.

Outside the window, something white floated down.

Jae-hyun turned slowly.

Seo-yeon felt her blood freeze.

It wasn't rain.

It wasn't hail.

It was snow.

In June.

Soft.

Silent.

Unforgiving.

Jae-hyun walked to the glass.

He pressed his hand against it.

His jaw tightened.

"Impossible," he whispered.

Seo-yeon stepped back.

Her heart racing.

Stop. Stop. Stop.

But her emotions surged—

Fear.

Love.

Guilt.

Memory.

The snow thickened.

Just like five years ago.

Jae-hyun turned to her slowly.

His eyes were no longer confused.

They were sharp.

Accusing.

"You're doing this."

It wasn't a guess anymore.

Seo-yeon shook her head.

"I'm not."

"Every time you feel something, the weather changes."

"I don't control it!"

Snow began falling harder.

The entire office gasped.

Phones rang.

Alarms screamed.

Jae-hyun stepped toward her.

"Five years ago, snow fell in summer."

His voice trembled—not with fear.

With rage.

"And you were there."

Seo-yeon's eyes filled with tears.

The temperature dropped even more.

"I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt," she whispered.

The moment those words left her mouth—

Everything went silent.

The snow stopped mid-air.

Just for a second.

Jae-hyun's expression changed.

Slowly.

Dangerously.

"What did you just say?"

Seo-yeon realized too late.

She had confessed without confessing.

Outside—

The sky darkened unnaturally.

And somewhere far away—

A second storm began forming.

Not centered on her.

Jae-hyun grabbed her wrist.

"You know something."

Seo-yeon's heart pounded wildly.

And for the first time—

She felt something new.

The air shifted.

The pressure felt different.

This wasn't her storm.

She looked toward the window.

Then back at him.

Whispered—

"It's not just me anymore."

Lightning split the sky violently.

But it wasn't coming from above.

It was rising from somewhere else.

And Jae-hyun realized—

If she wasn't the only one who could command the weather…

Then Ji-eun's death might not have been an accident.

The snow melted instantly.

Leaving only cold silence.

And a question that changed everything.

Who else controls the sky?
