Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Library

"Sean! Sean!"

A familiar voice made Sean pause.

In the corridor outside the Greenhouse, the setting sun's afterglow illuminated the Wizard beside the Gothic stained-glass window, making him appear even more handsome.

"Bruce, Senior."

Sean nodded, acknowledging him, and was about to continue towards the Greenhouse.

"You're going to visit Professor Sprout, aren't you? I suggest you go back. Professor Sprout went to Greenhouse Three, and that place is forbidden to first-year Young Wizards."

After reminding him, Bruce, Senior, held his book, awaiting Sean's response.

"...Thank you for the reminder."

Sean stopped in place, a little lost in his eyes.

If Professor Sprout wasn't there, based on his own knowledge of herbology, let alone processing herbs, even basic identification would be difficult.

And he also didn't know which herbs needed processing.

"You're really obsessed with magical plants..."

Seeing Sean's hopeful eyes dim, Bruce felt as if he had done something unforgivable. He helplessly closed the book in his hand.

"Generally, Professor Sprout only stays in Greenhouse Three for a while. You should still be able to find her in Greenhouse One after class tomorrow."

After he finished speaking, Sean's eyes immediately lit up. He nodded earnestly.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. Oh, by the way, here's this for you."

Sean looked over in confusion, only to see a dark shadow flash, and a piece of cheese appeared in his hand.

"Dragon milk cheese.

Although 'magic Your Cheese' has revised the recipe for Dragon Milk Cheese, I still think the original version tastes better, and many people agree."

Bruce, Senior, said with a smile, his arms crossed.

"Snack exchange, a Hufflepuff tradition. Even though you're a Ravenclaw, who cares?"

While Sean was examining the cheese, Bruce strode away decisively.

Sean heard fragmented conversations coming from the end of the corridor.

"I think the new version tastes better."

"Agreed."

"Pister, Leon! You two heretics! Don't make me angry right after I just showed off!"

"He thinks he's so handsome..."

"Leon, this time it seems..."

"Alright, Pister, you're right. I'd say, well done, that's very Hufflepuff. Bruce, you're impressive."

...New version, original version?

Sean guessed, was this like the dispute between salty tofu pudding and sweet tofu pudding in his previous life?

Fortunately, he liked spicy food.

Sean looked at the sky and decided to first complete something he had always wanted to do: go to the Hogwarts library.

Just think, Hogwarts has tens of thousands of books, and they're free!

This alone made Sean, who used to bleed money buying books, drool.

Not to mention, he could also complete his homework there.

Good homework completion should also be one of Headmaster Dumbledore's evaluation criteria.

The Hogwarts library is located on the second floor of Hogwarts Castle, housing thousands of bookshelves and tens of thousands of books.

It is divided into three areas:

One is the general area.

Here, Sean saw countless bookshelves extending in all directions like a lush forest, as if by right, until they disappeared into the darkness in the distance.

They weren't perfectly uniform; some areas were uneven, and some even required the aid of creaking movable ladders to reach the top floor.

Around the thick oak tables in the middle sat some students engrossed in their studies.

Their faces were illuminated by the magic crystal balls floating on the tables, and quills scribbled on parchment, making rustling sounds.

Sean strained to look but didn't see the Restricted Section at the back of the library.

That was a legendary place. Lord Voldemort found'Secrets of the Darkest Art' there and then turned himself into a brainless psychopath.

The trio found 'Most Potente Potions' there and made Polyjuice Potion.

It was a complete treasure trove.

The third area, called the Invisibility Section, contained most of the books on invisibility spells.

He didn't know how to find them.

Sean thought as he carried his small bag, preparing to find a seat, and then he saw Justin silently shouting.

"Sean! Here!" (mouth shape)

So Sean quickly walked towards Justin and Hermione.

"Where did you go? You disappear every time after dinner."

Hermione lifted her face; what was clearly concern turned into an accusation.

"Greenhouse."

Sean didn't mind at all and replied.

"Oh, I mean, well, do you know how to distinguish mature dittany?"

Hermione seemed to realize her stiff tone, tried to make amends but didn't know how, and finally subconsciously blurted out her question.

"Dittany has a faint sheepy smell. When it matures, this smell becomes stronger."

Sean repeated what Bruce, Senior, had said. This feeling was very strange, as if he had inherited something.

"You know!"

Hermione covered her mouth. She had only asked casually, not expecting Sean to actually know.

"Is that your harvest from going to the Greenhouse?"

Sean nodded, essentially yes.

"I knew it!"

Justin acted even prouder than Sean, making Hermione blush slightly.

"But I've memorized the first-year textbook, and there's no description of that at all."

Hermione's ear tips turned pink as she quietly asked.

"Hmm, I've memorized it too, and there really isn't any description."

Sean completely agreed.

"Oh my goodness, you've memorized it too!"

Hermione covered her mouth again, cautiously peeking out from behind a thick brown book.

She looked around, saw Madam Pince scolding a Young Wizard, completely oblivious to them, and then breathed a sigh of relief.

"Then you are?!"

Her eyes sparkled, as if she had found a kindred spirit.

"A Hufflepuff Senior told me when I was helping Professor Sprout process herbs."

After Sean finished speaking, he took out his 'History of Magic' and parchment. He decided to complete his History of Magic homework first.

Hermione and Justin exchanged glances; their state was probably "Huh?".

If Professor Binns hadn't said inches instead of feet, there wouldn't be much homework.

But unfortunately, the Professor was clearly a bit muddled, so Sean and the others received a foot of homework.

Roughly a third of a meter.

The Young Wizards, busy leaving class at the time, apparently hadn't realized the seriousness of the problem.

But soon, Sean glimpsed Michael and others already wearing masks of agony at the second row of oak tables in the library.

"Three feet! Even if I write with the largest spacing and font size, I can't finish it!"

Sean heard a loud shout, and then the people in the library looked at Michael with pity.

Michael then covered his mouth, but it was already too late.

Madam Pince strode over menacingly, her shoes making a sharp clacking sound on the floor.

Sean propped up his book, silently mourned for him, and then went to collect books to write his essay.

The essay seemed like a lot, but for Sean, it was nothing.

"'Modern History of Magic,' three Galleons;

'Important Magical Events of the Twentieth Century,' four Galleons;

'Directory of Famous Contemporary Wizards,' five Galleons..."

Sean tried to choose more expensive books.

Expensive books aren't necessarily good, but they are definitely expensive.

Once, Sean couldn't afford them.

Now, they were free to use.
