Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Herbology Class

"Ghosts are truly strange,

There's the amiable The Fat Friar, Nearly Headless Nick, and even a Professor..."

Justin Finch-Fletchley opened his homework, which had a rough outline written on it.

"Oh, if only he wouldn't suddenly get confused.

Cedric Diggory said there's never been such a long first-year assignment.

He tried to find Professor Binns but never succeeded.

I guess even if he did, he might not be able to change the Professor's mind.

A foot of homework, Merlin... this is still too difficult, Sean, have you finished it?"

Justin Finch-Fletchley closed his homework sheepishly, his eyes gleaming with hope.

"Mm."

Sean Green nodded, then took a piece of parchment from his bag,

and a notebook with a light blue cover.

The parchment contained the essay essentials written by Michael Corner and others, while the light blue notebook was Sean Green's summarized and organized History of Magic.

He had another identical notebook for organizing his thoughts and inspirations.

"Oh my goodness! Sean, you actually finished it?!"

Justin Finch-Fletchley covered his mouth as soon as he spoke.

"Although I do think this wouldn't be difficult for you, it's still a bit unbelievable every time it happens... Are we really Wizards of the same year...?"

His voice gradually trailed off in the latter half of the sentence, almost inaudible.

"I'll just look at a little bit of the outline, I definitely won't copy your homework.

If I do such a thing, may I never enter the kitchen again."

Justin Finch-Fletchley suddenly promised solemnly, his grey-blue eyes conveying sincerity and an almost imperceptible apprehension.

"Mm."

Sean Green placed the notebook in Justin Finch-Fletchley's hand and left the Great Hall for the Library.

Morning was when he had the most energy, and Sean Green would complete some more difficult tasks.

For example, thoroughly organizing the History of Magic,

combining it with books like A History of Modern magic, Important Magical Events of the Twentieth Century, and Directory of Contemporary Famous Wizards, to create a framework unique to himself.

Sean Green felt that this would surely help him excel in History of Magic.

The oak tables in the Library were reddish-brown, adorned with magic lanterns, crystal balls, and some flower arrangements.

Sean Green was immersed in the wonders of magical history; he had to admit, Wizards were truly lively.

For example, this:

[In the Middle Ages, Muggles were particularly afraid of magic, but they were not good at identifying it.

They occasionally did catch a Wizard or Witch, but burning had no effect at such times.

Wizards or Witches would cast a basic freezing flame spell when being burned,

enjoying the gentle tingling pleasure produced by the flames while pretending to be in pain and screaming.

Wendelin the Weird loved being burned and had allowed herself to be caught in various disguises,

as many as forty-seven times.]

This was very different from the tragic burning of Wizards Sean Green had imagined,

and also very different from the Wizards Sean Green had imagined.

After finishing his organization of the Middle Ages, Sean Green had to face that question again:

Where was he going to find Potion Materials?

Perhaps Professor Sprout would have unwanted Materials?

Perhaps he could find a way to buy some in Hogsmeade Village? As long as he found the secret passages of the Castle.

Perhaps he could ask Professor Sprout — if a Young Wizard could use Hogwarts Potion Materials after class to brew Potions? And then secretly practice?

But this method carried extreme risks and required great caution.

However, there are always more solutions than problems. Sean Green took out his notebook, preparing to sort through his complex thoughts.

But as he opened the first page, he froze:

[Emeric the Evil was a short-lived but extremely vicious Dark Wizard...]

Sean Green continued to flip through:

[Uric the Oddball, upon hearing the cry of a Augurey, firmly believed he had died and become a ghost...]

No!

In the Great Hall.

Justin Finch-Fletchley was engrossed in the parchment, his gaze focused, occasionally letting out gasps:

"Oh, you can write it like this, truly a Genius..."

He opened the light blue notebook with a flash of understanding, and the contents made his hand hover in the air.

[Seeking Potion brewing Materials]

"Sean Green wants to practice Potion brewing himself?"

This was his first thought.

"Sean Green is troubled by the lack of Materials?"

This was his second thought.

"I have them."

This was his last thought.

He carefully put away the parchment and notebook, and before the Herbology Class began, he quickly ran back to the Hufflepuff common room.

Here, green vines encircled, and the tables always held steaming milk, pumpkin juice, and various candies and pies.

He followed a candlelit path into his dormitory and opened his luxurious large trunk.

Scattered letters and postcards lay beside various jars and crystal bottles.

If one looked closely, they would find two sets of all the Potion Materials a first-year Young Wizard needed.

He remembered the conversation at Slug & Jiggers Apothecary that day:

"Are you sure you need everything packed, one set?"

"Yes, please, sir."

"Oh, my generous lady, I would truly not wish to deceive a beautiful lady such as yourself... In truth, these Potion Materials are not on the Hogwarts procurement list,

Even so, do you still require them?"

"Precisely because of that, pack two sets, sir."

At this moment, Justin Finch-Fletchley vaguely felt his mother's foresight.

"My dear Finch-Fletchley, if everyone has something, you must have it better;

If no one has something, you should possess it even more.

Those small expenses are necessary investments.

As for the best investment, you always know, my dear, that is sincerity and love."

"I think I might understand..."

Justin Finch-Fletchley gazed at the overflowing trunk for a long time, the collar of his always pristine white shirt seemingly still retaining the warmth of his mother's iron.

Hogwarts Library.

Sean Green walked out of the archway, waiting for the staircase to rotate.

He wasn't planning to go back to Justin Finch-Fletchley for his notebook, as the second Herbology Class of the morning was about to begin.

Besides, there was nothing confidential in the notebook, just a few methods for processing herbs and his thoughts on finding Potion Materials.

After class, he could exchange the truly useful notes with Justin Finch-Fletchley,

and retrieve his notebook.

Eight o'clock,

Soft sunlight danced on the armor,

and the scent of fresh grass from the greenhouses still lingered in the outer corridor.

Sean Green pushed open the large oak door,

and scattered Young Wizards had already arrived at the greenhouses.

Sean Green saw Professor Sprout put down her hoe and smile, nodding at him.

"Over here! Sean!"

Michael Corner grabbed Sean Green's arm,

pulling him next to Anthony and Terry.

"Why do I feel like the Professor is looking at you?"

Michael Corner stretched his neck and said.
