Chapter 2 - Academy Student

Shinichi Higashino was born in Konoha in 1947 and grew up in an orphanage.

Born an orphan, he had neither a distinguished family background nor special Kekkei Genkai, but he had a system panel that had been in his sight since birth.

After gradually understanding the operating logic of his system, he began to consciously manage his persona.

With the mindset of an adult, he demonstrated an understanding and learning ability beyond his age, earning praise from adults in the orphanage and the neighborhood for his intelligence.

He incorporated diligence into his daily life, taking on chores at the orphanage from a very young age. From the age when he could run and jump, he systematically exercised, doing push-ups, running, and jumping, and even gritting his teeth to do more and heavier exercises, just to leave others with the impression of having excellent physical fitness.

Even at the dinner table, he openly displayed an appetite disproportionate to his small stature, finishing his second and third bowls cleanly and attentively.

He also cultivated his personal relationships, becoming friends with the children in the orphanage, comforting and caring for crying babies, and running errands for the elderly in the neighborhood.

He even invited the children in the courtyard to hit his back and limbs with smooth wooden sticks, claiming that future ninjas need strong bodies and strong wills.

He gritted his teeth and didn't utter a sound, even though it hurt a lot, and even pretended that nothing happened the next day, as if the pain was insignificant.

These seemingly insignificant, deliberate or unintentional actions, like scattered puzzle pieces, eventually converge on his panel to form one white talent after another. They are both the truth in the eyes of others and the foundation that he builds for himself on the path to the extraordinary.

Through years of observation and experimentation, Shinichi has gradually discovered some patterns in generating talent.

The speed and quality of the talent generated seem to be closely related to three factors: The number of people who recognize his talent, the depth of their impression of that talent, and the strength, status, or influence of those who recognize him.

Therefore, today's entrance presentation, where he carries stones on his back, is just another carefully planned attempt to create his persona.

On the first day of school, a large number of students, parents, and teachers gathered at the entrance of the school, creating a bustling scene and attracting far more attention than usual.

It's even possible that the Third Hokage was secretly observing the enrollment of new students in some way.

The enormous yellow-gray rock that completely covered him was also the result of his deliberate selection.

This type of rock has a relatively low density, making it appear exceptionally large for the same weight, resulting in a particularly strong visual impact when people see it for the first time.

The exaggerated contrast between the size and the weight is far more eye-catching than carrying a small but heavier metal block, deepening the shocking impression of his superhuman strength and physique.

This behavior is somewhat unconventional, but looking around, there are certainly others in the village who behave even more exaggeratedly and eccentrically.

The most crucial reason is that Shinichi urgently needs to accelerate the generation of talent and the upgrading of existing talent in order to enhance himself.

This is to ensure that he will definitely be able to succeed in the first academic year in defeating Kakashi!

Compared to the potential rewards, this eye-catching ripple is entirely within acceptable limits.

Kakashi, now unleash your dazzling talent and let everyone in Konoha acknowledge that you're a genius!

Don't let me down!

Shinichi took a deep breath, calming his churning emotions from his first encounter with Kakashi, and walked steadily toward the enrollment area.

There, a male teacher wearing a green chunin vest and with a capable appearance was sitting behind a desk, methodically processing documents.

"Name?"

The teacher asked in a formulaic manner without even looking up.

"Shinichi Higashino."

"Did you bring your acceptance letter?"

"Yes, sensei."

Shinichi took out the well-preserved admission notice from his pocket and handed it over with both hands.

The Konoha Ninja Academy is open to all school-age children in the village, regardless of their background, but they still need to pass a basic assessment before they can enroll.

Every year, many children fail to be admitted. For example, Might Guy initially failed but was admitted through a make-up exam based on his Taijutsu.

The teacher who handled the registration took the acceptance letter and glanced at the information section and the grade assessment. When he saw that all the grades were A, he looked up with a hint of surprise and approval on his face: "All subjects are A? Not bad, your foundation is very solid."

His tone softened a bit. He glanced at Shinichi's birthdate on the admission notice and casually asked, "You should have been able to enroll last year. Why are you only enrolling this year?"

Shinichi smiled his usual gentle, slightly apologetic smile and explained calmly, "Sensei, last year I had to postpone it for a year because I needed to save up some necessary funds. I mainly helped out at the blacksmith shop and restaurant in the village."

That's obviously a lie.

The reason Shinichi only enrolled this year was primarily to ensure that he was in the same year as Kakashi, or even in the same class. Only in this way could the possibility of competing on the same stage in practical classes and assessments be greatly increased.

Secondly, this year was also his exploration period for the occupation column. There is no need to find a reason. He is an orphan who supports himself by working and saving money, and even uses his extra money to subsidize the orphanage that raised him. He is sensible, independent, and loyal.

What is there to say?

Unfortunately, he tried many jobs, but almost nothing changed.

Only when he enrolled in a Kendo Dojo founded by an old samurai from the Land of Iron who had settled in Konoha at the beginning of the village, did the previously empty occupation column slowly begin to display new words: [Swordsmanship Apprentice].

An occupation that slightly improves his physical attributes and accelerates his swordsmanship training, and grants him a chance to directly draw a new white talent.

The teacher subconsciously glanced at the address section on the admission notice, his expression momentarily faltering. His previously casual attitude was instantly replaced by a hint of barely perceptible embarrassment and understanding.

He coughed lightly, quickly composed himself, and looked at the smiling child in front of him. His tone softened unconsciously: "Very well… your documents are complete. Registration approved. Go over there to collect your enrollment materials. Study hard at school from now on."

"Yes, thank you, teacher."

Shinichi took the form with both hands, bowed politely, and turned to walk towards the enrollment collection area.

After completing all the enrollment procedures, he walked steadily toward the school gate.

Just as he stepped out of the school gate and officially placed the Ninja Academy behind him, he suddenly felt something.

He paused slightly, his gaze fixed on the empty space ahead while silently chanting in his heart.

A semi-transparent panel, visible only to him, quietly appeared.

[Name: Shinichi Higashino]

[Occupation: Ninja Academy Student (New), Swordsmanship Apprentice]

[Talents: omitted…]

His gaze was fixed on the newly appeared line of text in the occupation column.
