Chapter 1 - Unnamed

The secret of shadow island.

The wind howled across the deck as 14-year-old Leo tightened his grip on the railing. The small boat rocked wildly in the dark sea. Somewhere beyond the crashing waves lay Shadow Island — a place no one in his town dared to visit.

But Leo wasn't afraid.

At least, that's what he told himself.

For years, sailors had whispered stories about strange lights glowing on the island and mysterious sounds echoing at night. Some said it was haunted. Others believed a hidden treasure was buried deep within its forests. Leo believed there was only one way to find out.

Lightning split the sky, and for a brief second, he saw it — a jagged island rising from the sea like a sleeping dragon.

"We're almost there!" shouted Captain Mira over the storm.

The boat finally scraped against the rocky shore. Leo jumped out, his boots splashing in the shallow water. The storm began to calm, as if the island itself had been waiting for them.

The air felt different. Still. Watching.

They pushed through thick vines and towering trees until they reached something unexpected — a massive stone door carved into the side of a hill. Strange symbols covered its surface, glowing faintly blue.

"This wasn't made by nature," Leo whispered.

As he stepped closer, the ground trembled. The symbols began to shine brighter. Without thinking, Leo placed his hand on the center of the door.

Click.

The stone door slowly slid open.

Inside was not treasure — at least, not gold or jewels. Instead, they found an enormous crystal suspended in midair, humming with energy. The walls were covered with maps of stars and oceans, diagrams of machines far more advanced than anything Leo had ever seen.

"It's… a power source," Captain Mira breathed. "An ancient one."

Suddenly, footsteps echoed behind them.

"You shouldn't have come."

A tall figure stepped out of the shadows, wearing a cloak marked with the same glowing symbols. His eyes reflected the blue light of the crystal.

"This island protects the world," the stranger said. "That crystal controls the tides and storms. If it falls into the wrong hands, entire cities could sink."

Leo's heart pounded. This wasn't just an adventure anymore.

It was a responsibility.

The cloaked guardian studied Leo carefully. "The island has chosen you," he said quietly. "It opened because you touched it."

"Chosen me for what?" Leo asked.

"To protect it."

Outside, the ocean roared again, but this time it didn't sound threatening. It sounded alive.

Leo took a deep breath. He had come searching for treasure.

Instead, he had found a destiny.

And this was only the beginning.
