Chapter 4 - Heaven's Virtue

Mount Asulan is filled with thick snow where the temple of the monks who have lived for five centuries stands. The only oath of their lives is to fight demons using the borrowed power of the Most High and to worship the God of the third virtue of heaven.

She feels the cold of the wet ground and from outside the temple she hears the monks chanting beneath the rushing water over the stone.

She had seen this before when the sword embedded in her chest brought her there, and after that she did not realize what happened next. She only woke up weak and unable to stand.

"The medicine offered by nature is a cure, nature is the sickness but it is also the cure."

Said the old monk, Arda slowly sat on the wet ground and she feels that she is still writhing in pain. Her breathing is heavy especially her painful chest but the strength she feels is strange.

"Thank you very much for helping save me." The monk did not speak and only kept his eyes closed while his palms were resting on his feet. But he was listening and sensing.

"Arda, your name will serve as an embroidery in history that cannot be erased by the water of your enemies…." Arda in confusion held her chest when she felt its ache.

"Monk, never has war crossed my mind. I wish to ask for help in rebuilding our race…." she said with conviction. Her voice trembles while holding her chest.

"I do not desire the spilling of blood, please help us…." Arda breathed deeply while holding the arm of the old monk. Meanwhile the monk remained unmoving with his eyes closed.

"The weapon embedded in your heart… is a curse. It is caused by an agreement that you made."

"Monk, your statement is a lie. Never will I betray myself—"

She stopped when the monk performed a ritual. That ritual was strange because she feels the unusual strength coming from her chest.

In a few moments chains crawling from the pillar appeared toward her location. They resembled snakes that at any moment could bite her.

As the monk's ritual continued, so did the pain in Arda's chest. Arda's eyes were replaced with golden light and the embedded sword in her heart appeared.

Her voice echoed throughout the entire temple when the chain coiled around the sword and forcibly tried to remove it. A scream full of physical pain. Her throat almost dried while the monk forced to remove it from her body.

While the monk was doing this, memories appeared in her mind.

A memory long hidden in her humanity.

Under the light between the sun and the moon. A power hidden in light and darkness. The weapon forged in the shadow of hell.

An ordinary one and one blessed by heaven stood like birds because of the power of the wind.

Her eyes were blazing along with surging emotions.

"One day we will meet again, and this weapon will cut between the two of us..."

She was floating in the air and surrounded by swords given by the Gods to her as a promise.

She was regarded as one with a duty in heaven and overseer of another world.

Nevertheless she did not falter in the strength of power when she faced her again.

Her eyes were filled with regret. Her heart was filled with deep sorrow.

When their eyes met...

The monk was not able to finish what he was doing when he collapsed to the ground because of the strength of the power that came from a weapon.

The monk weakly stood and the large chains throughout the room also disappeared.

Meanwhile pale and weak, Arda was kneeling on the ground while holding her chest.

The monks hurried into the room and immediately helped the highest monk. After that they all looked at Arda while preparing for the chant they would perform.

They were stopped by the old monk who was walking into the room. His voice could be heard echoing throughout the temple. Powerful and full of authority was the tone of his voice. The size of this monk was not ordinary, he could be compared to a giant.

When he entered the room all the gates closed by themselves. He uttered a strange prayer and the entire surroundings were enveloped by the energy of water.

The sky darkened and the sea cried. Enormous waves struck the shores. The beings living below the temple hid. For this event was familiar.

Arda slowly looked up at the monk and their eyes met.

In a few moments the chains that came from beneath the ground appeared again. They coiled around Arda's body.

The monks surrounded her and began to utter prayers.

Arda was no longer able to break free when she felt the energy that immobilized her body, not long after the sword embedded in her chest appeared again but this time it was blazing with powerful energy coming from the sun.

Arda was weakening and almost running out of breath from the pain while the monk forcibly pulled the sword from her chest.

The monk stood before her at her level. When the monk held the sword and was about to pull it from her chest.

All the chains coiled around Arda's body were cut off. She floated in the air and with head held high looked at the monks who were terrified looking up at her.

She slowly raised her left hand. From beneath the ground arrows appeared. They floated circling behind Arda. She snapped her finger and all the arrows were now aimed at the monks.

The chief monk stood beside the giant monk. They prayed.

In a few moments a defensive power appeared. To receive and catch the arrows.

She did not hesitate to rain arrows upon the monks. She did not stop until all of them were weakening.

When she felt the shield weaken. She used her power again, from beneath the ground countless arrows appeared.

The eyes of the chief monk widened, he did not hesitate to release the green seal and threw it into the air.

When he threw the seal. A powerful explosion happened causing the temple to collapse.

In front of Arda appeared an enormous palm. That palm bore a mark.

A mark that signified it was a virtue of heaven. Without emotion she stopped and looked at everything again. In her hands she formed a thin but powerful energy.

She released it into the air, causing the temple walls to collapse and burning the statue of the Virtue of heaven. Everything fell into chaos. But the chief monk continued to fight her.

In those moments she froze when she saw a familiar figure from not far away. The war attire seemed familiar to her.

It carried a weapon capable of ending a nation with a single gesture.

Unconsciously she smirked when she realized that it was the general of the kingdom of METEO.

She gestured in the air and her powerful bow appeared, she prepared herself to strike the general wearing powerful armor.

For her this was their reckoning once again.
