Chapter 16 Helicopters

Chapter 16 Helicopters

A sudden change has occurred!

"Sizzle—"

With a sudden swing of its bone claws, the tough vines were severed!

Its twisted body rose again in a bizarre posture, its blood-red eyes fixed on Ma Jingxian, and a strange "gurgling" sound came from its throat, clearly indicating that it was thoroughly enraged!

Meanwhile, the dog-like variant was frantically tearing at the vines, about to break free!

Ma Jingxian's face turned pale; he clearly hadn't expected his plant restraints to be broken so easily.

He staggered back two steps, frantically pulling out another handful of seeds, but this time, his movements were noticeably more chaotic.

In an instant, the situation took a sharp turn for the worse!

With a sudden burst of speed, the twisted limbs of the human parasitic variant lunged at Ma Jingxian.

Its deformed bone claws gleamed coldly in the moonlight, and swung down with a whistling sound—

"Pfft!"

"ah--!!"

A piercing scream tore through the night sky, and Su Jinjin instinctively closed her eyes.

When she opened her eyes again, the scene in the distance had transformed into a hellish spectacle.

Two parasitic variants lay on the ground, making chilling chewing sounds, dark red liquid gurgling in the moonlight.

Su Jinjin abruptly turned her face away, her stomach churning.

She bit her lower lip hard until she tasted blood before forcing herself to calm down.

"This human parasitic variant's combat power... is terrifying. Sharp bone claws, if I were attacked even once, I'd be done for." She muttered to herself silently, her fists clenching unconsciously.

"It seems we need to be more cautious when encountering human variants in the future."

The night wind seeped in through the gaps in the cab, carrying with it the distant roars of mutated creatures.

Su Jinjin curled up in the seat and tightened the seatbelt even more.

Using the night vision function of the analytical glasses, she carefully scanned every corner of the entire town.

The view that can be seen.

Dilapidated houses, empty streets, abandoned vehicles... there was no sign of any human activity.

This place is obviously abandoned, perhaps because all the residents were forced to evacuate after the outbreak of the parasitic disaster.

"Clearly, the apocalypse here has been going on for quite some time," Su Jinjin thought, wondering what to do next.

Her gaze fell upon the waterfall she had been heading towards.

The waterfall area on the other side of the broken bridge was also shrouded in darkness, with only the faint sound of rushing water.

That place should have been the safest place Su Jinjin felt she could find, but now it's out of reach because of the broken bridge.

"No, since both the parasitic bloodworms and the parasitic variants are afraid of water, there should be people gathered there, but why is it all dark and looks like no one is there?"

Su Jinjin knew absolutely nothing about this instance.

"Don't think too much about it now, let's get through the first night first. It seems we'll have to spend the rest of the night here..." Su Jinjin sighed.

Remove the analytical glasses.

She forced herself to close her eyes, but each howl from afar made her tense up.

This night was exceptionally long.

Whenever she was about to fall asleep, she would suddenly wake up and look around warily.

The cold metal walls of the cockpit made her feel cold all over, but compared to the monsters roaming outside, this discomfort was nothing.

"Let it get light soon..." she prayed silently in her heart. This was the first time Su Jinjin had ever longed for the arrival of sunlight so much.

...

"Buzz buzz buzz—"

A low rumble made Su Jinjin, who was already feeling drowsy, feel somewhat confused.

The sound was like the vibration of some kind of machine in operation, growing clearer and clearer as it approached.

"What was that sound?!"

Su Jinjin suddenly woke up with a start, her body tensing up instinctively, and the silver needle instantly gathered at her fingertips.

The sky was already beginning to lighten, with a few dim rays of morning light peeking through the gray clouds, but the sun had not yet fully risen.

The sound came from the sky.

Su Jinjin immediately looked up at the crane and saw a dark green military helicopter flying low over the town, its rotors stirring up the morning mist as it sped away into the distance.

The faded military insignia were faintly visible on the fuselage, but what made her heart race the most was that it was clearly a human-piloted aircraft!

"A helicopter! It's a human!"

She hurriedly put on her analysis glasses and quickly switched to remote locking mode.

Su Jinjin tried to capture detailed information about the helicopter, but it was too fast and quickly became a small black dot on the horizon.

"Damn it!" Su Jinjin slammed her fist on the control panel in frustration.

Worse still, the roar of the helicopters completely shattered the town's tranquility—

"Awooo—!"

"Roar—!"

The entire town instantly erupted in excitement!

Countless parasitic variants swarmed out of the building, roaring at the helicopter.

Wearing her analytical glasses, Su Jinjin never imagined there would be so many parasitic variants.

Some jumped out of the broken windows, others smashed open the rickety doors, all tilting their heads back and howling wildly at the departing helicopter.

Su Jinjin even saw several mutants trying to climb the tall building, their bone claws scraping against the wall with a screeching sound, as if they wanted to pull the plane down.

She held her breath and huddled in the driver's seat, too afraid to move.

Although the helicopter had flown far away, the commotion it left behind turned the entire town into a frenzy.

Su Jinjin gazed in the direction where the helicopter disappeared, her eyes gradually becoming deep.

The morning light shone on her slightly tired face, but it couldn't hide the thoughtful look in her eyes.

"Could there be a survivor base in the direction the plane flew?"

She murmured to herself, her fingers unconsciously stroking the silver needles.

But soon, a problem arose.

The helicopter was heading in the exact opposite direction from her original plan to set up a tent shelter at the waterfall.

"We can't get to the waterfall right now because of the broken bridge…" Su Jinjin bit her lower lip, her eyes gradually hardening. "Why don't we explore in the direction of the helicopter? Maybe we can find a human settlement."

As the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds, the parasitic variants, startled by the helicopter, finally retreated reluctantly into the shadows.

The town returned to an eerie silence, as if the commotion of the previous night had never happened.

Su Jinjin took out a bag of bread and half a bottle of water from her spatial storage and began to replenish her energy.

Bread crumbs fell onto her knees, but she didn't bother to brush them off.

"Only when you're well-fed will you have the energy to stockpile supplies," she thought as she ate. "I'll gather some more supplies in this town during the day, and then decide on my next step."

The sunlight grew stronger, dispelling the fear of the night.

Su Jinjin carefully climbed down from the crane control room, her legs still feeling a little weak when she landed.

She took a deep breath of the morning air and clenched her fist.

"Day 2 of the dungeon begins."

The town is completely different during the day and at night.

The only sounds on the empty streets were the rustling of discarded newspapers in the wind, and the sunlight shone on the broken shop windows, reflecting a blinding light.

The absence of any parasitic variants emboldened Su Jinjin considerably.
