That night, Li Tian felt it.

A burning sensation on his chest.

When he removed his robe, a golden sigil had appeared — the mark of the Heaven-Defying lineage.

Anyone with sufficient cultivation could sense it.

Which meant:

They would come.

Su Yan stood outside the inn, looking at the moon.

"You are being hunted," she said quietly.

Li Tian nodded.

"I have been hunted since I was five."

She turned toward him.

"Then why save me?"

Li Tian looked at the distant mountains.

"My master believed the world could be balanced. If the righteous do nothing, evil wins without effort."

Su Yan smiled faintly.

"Then let us walk this path together."

For the first time in ten years, Li Tian did not feel alone.
