Chapter 1 - Awakening

"Line up properly. Today, you will all awaken your talent, which will determine whether your village will focus on auxiliary, combat, building, etc...

"Now, I will call your name one by one. After hearing your name, go to the podium directly to touch the crystal in the center.

"First up, Aizel Cabalar, please go to the podium quickly."

Looking at the podium in the distance, where a crystal emitting a soft glow of white can be seen being suspended mid-air, hovering up and down and releasing a soft hum, a teenager, with brown eyes filled with daze, was suddenly awakened with confusion.

He still couldn't believe the thing unfolding in front of his eyes.

Yesterday, he was living a blissful life, playing games day and night without any troubles in his small abode, yet, after falling asleep, he surprisingly found out that he was transported to this unfamiliar world.

What's worse is that this world is filled with indescribable dangers! Humans could acquire powers beyond norms, build buildings much more advanced or primitive than those on Earth, face monsters, or adventure in unexplored territories.

Although it sounds exciting, he, Araw Lorica, doesn't find it exciting at all; instead, he feels fear!

With the memories gained from the predecessor of this body, he found out that out of 100 who awakened their talent, at least 25-50% would die in the first week... And another 50% of the previous survivors would die after the first month!

Overall, after someone awakens their talent and after being teleported into an unmanned territory, the chance of survival will be infinitely small.

Isn't it better to stay in my place and play online games after work? Although I don't earn much, at least I'm enjoying my life. Ahhh! Who the f*ck really sent me to this place? Can you stop playing pranks and send me back already? I'm still 2 stars away from reaching legend in Honor of Kings!

"Araw Lorica, please come up to the podium!

"Araw, is Araw here?

"I'm going to count to three. If student Araw doesn't come to the stage, then we will relinquish his chance of awakening his talent."

Hearing his name being called out, Naib, instead of going up, acted like he didn't hear anything.

Although not going up to the stage to partake in the awakening ceremony wouldn't allow him to awaken his talent, meaning that his value would be basically zero, and he would be at the lowest strata of society for the rest of his life, Naib doesn't care at all.

In his mind, isn't better to live poor than die early.

"Araw, the teacher is calling your name, go to the stage quickly!"

Unfortunately, despite having no plans to show himself, his classmates around him wouldn't allow that.

After seeing him not responding, most of his classmates' gaze already shifted to his body... Followed by the teachers on the podium looking at him, not long after.

"Student Araw, please come up to the stage quickly, there are still a lot of students who are waiting."

Signing deeply, knowing that he couldn't continue ignoring the call or else, he might be dragged to the podium by the teachers themselves, Araw under the encouraging look of the people around him, stood up from his seat before slowly approaching the podium.

In his head, he's no longer thinking of an excuse to not awaken his talent; instead, he is hoping to awaken an A-grade talent at the very least!

Talent, or to be exact, the Lord Talent was divided into grades, from the weakest to the highest, known as E, D, C, B, A, and S Lord Talent.

The higher the Lord Talent was, the higher the chances of the awakener's survival upon being teleported into an unmanned land.

Although it's not a certain death for those who have awakened a low-level talent, it indeed would be tough for them to survive in unmanned territory by solely relying on their wits.

If, if he, Araw, could awaken an A-grade talent, then his chances of survival in a month would be basically guaranteed. Of course, it's on the account that he wouldn't court death to himself!

"You finally arrived. Okay, be quick and place your hand on the surface of the awakening stone before closing your eyes... Then try to sense the energy within the crystal."

Following the command of the middle-aged man teacher, Araw closed his eyes.

Exhaling softly, he emptied his mind based on the textbook he had read in the past, before slowly feeling the energy coursing through the surface of the crystal.

This!

Surprisingly, not even a second passed by when he attempted to sense the energy within the crystal, a cold thread, seemingly attached to a needle, abruptly pierced his palm, causing his forehead to furrow uncomfortably.

Quickly as it appears, the cold thread courses through his body, as if searching for something before eventually rushing toward his head.

Boom!

In an instant, after the thread of energy entered his head, a loud sound of a lock being shattered echoed deep within his soul.

A feeling of elevation consumed his being as a string of familiar text that seemed to emanate from within his own consciousness appeared in his line of sight.

Ding!

"This, this."

Abruptly, after the panel appeared in Araw's sight, the crystal, hovering in front of him, suddenly began emitting a bright glow.

Upon seeing this, people around immediately stood up from their seats. Their eyes widen in shock while their faces shows varied emotions...

Some from shock, but most from envy.

"This, an A-grade talent at the very least!

"It's been a while since someone awakened an A grade from our school! Quick, tell me the background of the student on the podium."
