Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Rooster Talisman

"Alright, we're heading back to work," Finn said with a smile. "Shen, you can take care of yourself, right?"

"Are you going to threaten that family again, Uncle Finn?" Shen asked calmly.

Finn froze, then gave an awkward laugh.

Seeing that reaction, Shen simply opened the car door and stepped out.

"I wish you three a smooth day at work."

The car started moving.

Finn sighed. "I think I've set a bad example for the child."

"It's fine," Zhou said, patting his shoulder. "Once we finish this mission and get paid, you can spend some proper time with him."

Rasu nodded in agreement.

Watching the car disappear, Shen hailed another taxi and returned near the antique shop.

He planned to wait.

Toru would appear soon.

Fortunately, he had watched the Rooster Talisman arc of Jackie Chan Adventures several times. While he couldn't remember every detail, he knew the general flow of events.

Meanwhile, inside Section 13—

"Jade, what are you doing here?!" Jackie exclaimed in shock.

"Hmph! I took the stairs," Jade replied proudly.

Around them, agents stood in visible disarray. Captain Black looked particularly troubled.

Section 13 was supposed to be the safest place in America.

And yet, an eleven-year-old girl had practically turned it upside down.

Jade's talent was beginning to show.

By evening, Jackie and Jade returned to the antique shop.

They immediately noticed Uncle was gone.

Several antiques lay shattered on the floor.

A note rested on the table.

"If you want this old man back, bring the shield."

Jackie's expression darkened.

Before they could react, a voice came from the doorway.

"Um… I just saw an old gentleman being taken away by a very large man."

They turned.

Shen stood at the entrance, raising a hand.

"Shen!" Jade exclaimed in surprise.

"Really? Where did they take him?" Jackie asked urgently, stepping forward.

"I saw them heading toward the Golden Gate Bridge," Shen said, pointing.

"Please lead the way!"

Jackie grabbed the shield and rushed out, pulling Shen along.

"Jade, stay somewhere safe. Don't run around!"

"Okay!" Jade replied obediently—smiling.

On the highway—

Jackie drove at high speed.

"Thank you for helping this time," he said to Shen. "I apologize for what Uncle said earlier."

"See? I told you Shen isn't a bad person!"

A familiar voice came from the back seat.

"Jade?!" Jackie slammed the brakes.

Shen nearly lurched forward but was secured by his seatbelt.

"Uncle, sudden braking is dangerous," Jade said calmly.

"But I told you—"

"You said find a safe place," she interrupted. "The antique shop isn't safe anymore."

Jackie was speechless.

In the end, he could only sigh. "Don't cause trouble."

Soon, a familiar truck appeared ahead.

"That's the kidnappers' truck!" Shen pointed.

At the same time, he noticed something strange.

There were no other cars on the Golden Gate Bridge.

"Can you drive?" Jackie suddenly asked.

"I have a license," Shen nodded.

They switched seats.

Once Shen took the wheel, Jackie rolled down the window.

"In a moment, drive next to the truck. Then I—"

"Next to the truck. Got it."

Shen pressed the accelerator.

The car surged forward.

Jackie quickly fastened his seatbelt.

Within seconds, they pulled alongside the truck.

Jackie unbuckled, leaned out the window in an acrobatic motion, grabbed the truck, and climbed onto its roof.

"Cool!" Jade shouted excitedly. "Like a secret agent mission! What next? Ram the truck?"

Shen shook his head.

He wasn't afraid of death.

But he wasn't immortal either.

"Uncle will handle it," Shen said calmly.

Sure enough, the truck soon slowed and stopped.

Shen parked nearby.

"We respond depending on the situation," he said.

Jade nodded eagerly.

The truck's cargo door opened.

Toru stepped out.

He was enormous—over three meters tall—his massive frame nearly filling the compartment.

Behind him, Uncle was tied up, mouth sealed with tape.

It seemed Toru had already experienced the power of "One more thing."

Seeing Toru in person was far more intimidating than on screen.

Then—

From the shadows around the bridge, the Shadowkhan emerged.

Dark ninja figures materialized one after another.

Toru pulled Uncle forward and extended his hand toward Jackie.

"Give me the shield."

His deep voice, combined with the surrounding Shadowkhan, created overwhelming pressure.

Jackie turned slightly.

Before he could react—

Shen had already placed the shield in his hands.

"Uncle, the shield!"

Then Shen turned and ran.

Jackie assumed the young man was frightened.

Jade, meanwhile, was secretly preparing to help.

What none of them knew—

Was that the Rooster Talisman had already slipped into Shen's grasp.

Hidden tightly in his hand. 🐉
