Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Earning Experience Points

"You two, follow me."

While Yuji and Sasori were waiting for Endo to return, the canyon outside the cave had already become restless.

A Sand Ninja appeared outside the cave and spoke to the two of them solemnly.

Yuji and Sasori exchanged a glance and immediately followed.

By now, signs of combat and the sounds of fighting were coming from various parts of the canyon.

Many Sunagakure figures also appeared within the canyon, rushing toward the sources of the noise.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Takuma, the commander of this battle... and also your temporary squad leader. An emergency has occurred; enemies from the Land of Rain have broken through the frontline defenses and penetrated deep into this area. Their current objective is unclear... but from the intelligence gathered, they likely intend to scout specific information regarding our border defenses."

"Therefore, no matter what... we must slay all the enemies to completely sever their ambitions."

A short while later, Sasori and Yuji met up with other Sunagakure Ninjas at a certain valley floor.

There were over twenty people in total.

These were not all the personnel Sunagakure had deployed in the vicinity.

Many experienced Sunagakure Ninjas had already gone to flank the targets appearing in the canyon.

Those remaining either had limited combat power and couldn't participate directly on the battlefield, or they held special statuses.

Yuji also spotted some familiar faces in the ranks.

They were newcomers like himself, who had not long ago graduated from the Ninja Academy.

These few Genin were all very nervous.

To them, this was a truly massive event.

The speaker, a Jonin, had a white turban wrapped around his head.

"Medical Ninjas, step forward."

Takuma shouted.

Including Yuji, a total of seven people stepped out from the crowd.

This was the entirety of Sunagakure's medical support at the rear of the border.

"Logistics and intelligence personnel, step forward."

Takuma added.

A few more people stepped out.

Immediately after, Takuma pulled out a crude map and pointed at several marked spots. "Now, according to the battlefield sectors in the canyon, the Medical Ninjas and logistics will be divided into groups to head to their respective battlefields... Your task is simple; there's no need for direct confrontation with the enemy. First, reduce casualties. Second, should anything occur, prioritize relaying intelligence... Everyone else will be responsible for protecting the Medical Squad's safety."

"This is our territory... There are several hidden outposts in the canyon containing supplies... Even if an encounter occurs, you can engage in guerrilla warfare."

"Yes!"

Everyone responded in unison.

Then, they began to group up automatically.

"Sasori..."

After swiftly giving out the combat orders, Takuma turned his gaze toward the boy standing beside Yuji.

In this group, clearly... one person was special.

That was Sasori.

Even if he was just a child, he could still be viewed as a powerful combatant for their side.

Takuma's arrangement for Sasori was obviously different from the others.

He hoped Sasori could participate in the battle and kill the Amegakure Ninjas.

"I'll be in a group with Yuji."

However, Sasori spoke up directly.

He clearly knew Takuma.

"Fine."

Takuma fell silent for a moment before nodding.

"Move out!"

With a low shout,

The group quickly scattered.

Yuji's newly formed squad consisted of five people in total.

There were two Medical Ninjas, plus one Ninja in charge of intelligence; the rest were Sasori and a Chunin responsible for the squad's safety.

This Chunin was also the temporary squad leader.

"It seems Nomura and the others are most likely dead..."

While running, Yuji speculated.

On the very first day at the border, almost none of his assigned squad members were left.

It was quite cruel.

Then, Yuji glanced at Sasori. Instead of heading to the front to intercept the enemy, Sasori wanted to be in the same squad as him.

"Does he want to observe my abilities?"

Yuji thought to himself.

This was fine... Whether Sasori was acting out of curiosity or some other motive, getting closer to Sasori was also what Yuji wanted.

After all, in his plan, to change the future situation and difficulties of Sunagakure... Sasori was an indispensable link.

Following the leader's guidance, their squad was heading toward a battlefield within the canyon.

Not to join the fight,

But to use this battlefield as a center to search for nearby wounded and observe the positions of enemies scattered throughout the canyon.

The five of them traveled in a dispersed formation, but they didn't stray too far, so they could promptly detect any movement.

Whoosh!

Soon, Yuji discovered a wounded Sand Ninja.

He stopped immediately, knelt beside the unconscious Sand Ninja, and after a quick assessment of the situation, he opened his medical kit and began treatment.

For most Medical Ninjas, field treatment was quite difficult due to limited conditions.

The ability to change a patient's condition mainly relied on Medical Ninjutsu... The effects achievable by simply using medicines and tools were extremely limited.

In battles between Ninjas, there were almost no so-called minor injuries.

Therefore... as long as one fell on the battlefield, it was hard to recover in a short time relying only on external items.

However, Yuji's medical kit and supplies were somewhat special... Besides bandages, a scalpel, and some tools, there were also some potions he had formulated himself. Aside from toxins, most were antibiotics.

In the world of Naruto, the overall medical level of the current timeline naturally couldn't compare to modern society... As a transmigrator who had inherited Kuroo's vast medical knowledge, he could use materials and herbs from this world to extract and produce certain medications through his own methods.

This was also one of the areas where he excelled.

Yuji's treatment methods were remarkably efficient; in less than a few minutes, he had managed the patient's external wounds.

Then he gave the patient an injection of antibiotics and a nutrient solution he had formulated himself.

Throughout the healing process, Sasori stood nearby watching, while also protecting his safety.

"What is that?"

Sasori stared at Yuji's somewhat miraculous waist pouch. Even though he wasn't a doctor, he had never seen some of the delicate tools Yuji took out.

They were likely self-made.

"Please, take him to a nearby outpost."

After finishing everything, Yuji turned and spoke to Sasori with a smile.

The latter directly shot out Chakra Threads, carrying the wounded man away as if controlling a Puppet.

Yuji continued to follow the squad forward.

Soon, Sasori returned.

His speed was quite fast.

Along the way, Yuji continuously treated the wounded. Some were unconscious with a faint breath... but some just had limb injuries and had lost their combat effectiveness.

More often... there were corpses.

As long as they were alive, Yuji could handle any situation.

But due to his currently limited abilities, he couldn't make the wounded recover perfectly. Nonetheless, his outstanding performance still made the others in the squad look at him in a new light.

This included the other Medical Ninja in his group.

In that person's eyes, this boy named Yuji... was practically a master of the medical arts.

Furthermore, his treatment experience was seasoned... that steady aura sometimes made people subconsciously overlook his youthful appearance.

However, the most dazzling person in the squad was not Yuji.

It was Sasori.

During their mission, they inevitably encountered Amegakure Ninjas.

But without exception, these enemies were almost all killed by Sasori alone.

It could be said that Sasori alone ensured the safety of their squad.

"This canyon is good for hiding. Amegakure planned well, but they didn't expect Sunagakure's reaction to be so fast."

"Judging from the scale of the battlefield and the number and frequency of enemies we've encountered, at least one or two hundred Amegakure Ninjas have infiltrated."

"The scale of the battlefield isn't too large... however, thanks to this incident, it seems I can harvest a generous amount of experience points."

"This is much better than interning at the hospital..."

Yuji was secretly excited.
