Chapter 7 - A cancelled excitement

Lukas shouted and said,

"Hehe, Mom, Dad! I'm gonna go swimmi—"

His sister heard a loud thud and went to check.

"You dummy! Why did you fall down the stairs?"

Lukas was crying so loudly that their mom and dad came running.

"What happened, Lukas?" his mom asked.

"I—I was so excited to swim in the sea that I—I hurriedly ran downstairs," he stammered.

"It's okay, Lukie. Your sister will take care of your bruise," his mom reassured him.

Now alone on the terrace, Lukas and his sister sat together.

"You idiot, why would you run down the stairs? Now you've got a bruise," she scolded gently.

"I was just so excited to swim," Lukas admitted.

After a few minutes, his sister finished treating his bruise.

"Yay! I can finally go swim in the sea!" Lukas exclaimed.

"Nuh-uh," she said firmly. "Mom said you can't go just yet. The ointment I put on your bruise hasn't taken effect."

"But I want to go swimming…" Lukas whispered, disappointed.

Noticing his unhappiness, his sister thought of a way to make it up to him.

"You can't go swimming… but we can build a sandcastle!"

Lukas's face lit up. "Sure!"
