Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 5: The House That Became Their Safe Haven

The moment Angelo got the call, everything changed.

"Keifer," he said, voice tight, "Keizer's men were seen near the boys' school."

Keifer's blood ran cold. Jay grabbed his arm instinctively.

Angelo didn't waste time. He turned to the guards stationed at the ballroom entrance.

"Bring Keigan and Keiren here. Now. Full escort. No mistakes."

The guards nodded and sprinted out.

Jay squeezed Keifer's hand. "They'll be okay. Angelo's people are the best."

Keifer didn't answer. He was too busy fighting the panic rising in his chest.

Serina stepped beside him, placing a steadying hand on his back.

"They're strong boys," she whispered. "Just like you."

Twenty minutes later, the ballroom doors burst open again.

Two small figures ran inside.

"KUYA!"

Keiren launched himself into Keifer's arms, sobbing. Keigan followed, trying to look brave but trembling.

Keifer dropped to his knees and hugged them both so tightly Jay felt her own chest ache.

"It's okay," he whispered. "I've got you. I'm here."

Serina rushed over, tears streaming. "My babies… my boys…"

Keigan blinked up at her. "Mom… you're alive?"

Serina nodded, voice breaking. "Yes, anak. I'm here now. I'm not leaving again."

Jay knelt beside them, brushing Keiren's hair gently.

"You're safe now," she said softly.

Keiren sniffled. "You're pretty. Are you Kuya's girlfriend?"

Jay froze. Keifer froze.

Percy burst out laughing. "Oh, I LOVE these kids."

Aries sighed. "Why am I here."

Angelo cleared his throat.

"Everyone, listen. Keizer's men weren't just near the school. They were asking questions. About the boys. About Serina. About Keifer."

Jay's stomach dropped.

Aries straightened. "So what's the plan?"

Angelo looked at Jay.

"We move everyone to the Fernandez house. Tonight."

Jay nodded immediately. "Yes. Of course."

Tita Gema gasped dramatically. "More people in my house? Ay, Diyos ko—"

Jay's grandma smacked her with her cane. "Stop complaining. They're family."

Jasfer clapped his hands. "Perfect! We'll all live together. Like a sitcom. But with trauma."

Percy groaned. "I didn't pack my hair products."

Aries muttered, "I want to go home."

"You ARE home," Jay reminded him.

Aries groaned louder.

Angelo continued, serious now.

"The Fernandez estate is the safest place. High walls. Private guards. Security systems Keizer can't hack. If he's hunting Serina and the boys, we need everyone under one roof."

Keifer looked at Jay, eyes softening.

"You're okay with this?"

Jay smiled gently. "You think I'd let your family face this alone?"

Keifer swallowed hard.

Jay's kindness always hit him like a punch.

As everyone prepared to leave, Keifer pulled Jay aside.

"Jay."

She turned.

He hesitated — something he rarely did.

"Thank you… for letting us stay. For helping my brothers. For… everything."

Jay stepped closer.

"You don't have to thank me. I care about them. And I care about you."

Keifer's breath caught.

He reached out, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

"You're going to make me fall for you all over again."

Jay's cheeks flushed.

"You already did."

Keifer froze.

Jay realized what she said and turned bright red.

"I—I mean—"

Keifer smiled, soft and real.

"I know what you meant."

He leaned in, forehead touching hers.

"We'll figure this out. Together."

Jay closed her eyes.

"Together."

Angelo shouted from the doorway:

"Cars are ready! Everyone move!"

Keifer lifted Keiren into his arms. Keigan grabbed Jay's hand like she was his anchor.

Serina walked beside them, finally looking like a mother reunited with her family.

Jasfer and Percy argued about who got the window seat. Aries dragged his feet like a tired dad. Tita Gema yelled at everyone to take off their shoes before entering her house. Jay's grandma threatened to hit Percy if he didn't stop posing.

And Jay… Jay walked beside Keifer, their hands brushing, their hearts finally beating in the same direction.

The Fernandez house wasn't just a safe place.

It was becoming a home.
