Zach was totally fed up with these windows popping up left and right, asking him to make all sorts of choices. To make matters worse, he was starving, his stomach growling like crazy. And the new batch of windows that popped up were just as confusing as the ones before.
Characteristics have been selected
You may now select an item. You are required to choose any weapon of your choice. Choose wisely, as you will have only thirty seconds to specify the item.
There was no time to waste; only thirty seconds to pick a weapon. Zach, being a mage, was leaning towards staves and wands to channel his magic. Bigger boom for your buck as the mages say. But, he knew that would leave him open in close combat. After thinking it over, he went with a hand-and-a-half sword, an anaklusmos. It was the weapon of one of his favorite demigod heroes, so getting his own was a no-brainer and choosing a wand would have been as they say, "Riddikulus".
He only had thirty seconds to pick and customize his item. He went with a pale, eggshell-like blade with a big blue sapphire in the pommel and guard. The blade was upgradable and would level-up with him. He added an enchantment to make it unbreakable by anything up to two grades above his own—totally necessary. It would stay sharp forever and even had auto-repair to keep it in perfect condition.
"No need to waste time sharpening it all the time if I can just add an enchantment," he thought. With the weapon chosen, he moved on quickly. Zach hit accept the moment before the timer hit zero, and the window disappeared. The sword appeared right there on the table in front of him.
"Sweet, talk about same day delivery!" he joked, chuckling a bit too much at his own lame joke.
He started checking out the sword – it had this faint glow coming from inside. He grabbed it by the handle and took a few practice swings. The sword felt perfectly balanced in his hand, but he didn't really have anything to compare it to since it was the first sword he'd ever held. After almost tripping and nearly dropping his little buddy, he decided to put the sword back on the table and take a closer look.
Identify has been acquired
"Whoa!" he exclaimed, leaping back and almost stumbling over the chair. The new window had totally caught him off guard.
Another new skill, huh? he thought to himself. This one seemed like it might give him some sort of information—hopefully, at least.
Information had been seriously lacking. He had a ton of questions—okay, maybe not a ton, but more kept popping up in his mind throughout this whole ordeal, and he didn't feel any closer to getting answers.

The timer on the wall was ticking down way too fast. He was running out of time to create his character, and who knows where he'd end up after. Maybe the room would just open up? He wasn't sure, but it was a possibility. He stared at the sword, remembering his new skill. "Why not give it a shot?" he thought. He zeroed in on the sword since he didn't know anything about it and tried using his identify skill.
Aurae (Unique) A sword capable of splitting the heavens.
Enchantments:
Soulbound
Leveling
Indestructible II
Sharpened V
Auto-Repair V
He hadn't chosen to have the soulbound enchantment, and it was a nice surprise—he was glad he'd identified the sword was. The other enchantments were pretty much what he'd picked, just with more details.
Guess I can't call it Riptide, oh well, Zach mused, wondering what the system wanted him to do next.
The Status Screen feature is now available
"Finally, a status screen!" he exclaimed after the voice, knowing there'd be no reply. But hey, at least he had something to do now. And he was all in.
"Status," he said out loud, remembering all those books and shows he'd devoured. He had a few ideas to try, and "status" was at the top of the list.

'Okay, so that kinda answers some stuff, like if stats are a thing and how much health, stamina, and mana I have,' he thought, tapping his chin. 'But what do the individual stats mean? Is magic linked to intelligence, like in RPGs, or is it willpower?' So many questions...
07:42
The clock was ticking, and answers were supposed to be coming when the timer hit five minutes. He tried using identity on his stats, but nothing new popped up – maybe he was doing it wrong? He stared at his strength stat and focused on what he wanted: more information.
Strength: This attribute encompasses a character's capacity to exert physical force and overcome resistance in their environment. It determines their effectiveness in tasks that demand lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or breaking objects. A character with a higher strength stat will see it manifest in various ways, such as raw muscle, an exceptional body, or mastery of specific fighting techniques.
The description for strength was just as he thought it would be, with the added bonus of getting more buff if he was reading it right. Who doesn't think about changing their body, everyone does! He personally wouldn't mind a flat stomach again, and if abs were part of that deal, he wouldn't complain. Now onto finding out which stat is for mana.
Intelligence: This refers to a character's intellectual capacity. It determines their aptitude for acquiring new knowledge, solving complex problems, comprehending abstract concepts, and effectively casting magic spells. In essence, it encompasses increasing their cognitive abilities and capacity for quick thinking.
So, intelligence is linked to mana, and he received ten resource points for each individual stat point. That's not good news – depending on the damage, it would only take a few hits to kill him, even less if the enemy is way stronger. He was busy reading stat descriptions when a new notification popped up and grabbed his attention.

The Inventory feature is now available.
"Okay, that wasn't what I was expecting," he thought. If he'd avoided the system or been a total wreck, all his choices would've been assigned automatically, and that would've sucked. The vouchers were a mystery, even with all his knowledge of books and shows. They were good for something, but what? The last part was easier, though. Even though this wasn't a video game, it still had the familiar elements of classes and stats, and the all-important inventory.
