Chapter 2 - SECRETS IN THE SHADOWS

Chapter 2: Secrets in the Shadows

The elevator dinged open, and Evelyn stepped into the boardroom, her heels echoing on the polished floor. Damon followed, his presence impossible to ignore. She forced herself to focus on the papers in her hand.

"This agreement…" she began, trying to keep her voice steady, "I want clear terms before signing."

Damon leaned casually against the table, eyes scanning her like he already knew every word she'd read. "Terms are simple," he said smoothly. "Trust me… or don't. Either way, the deal happens."

Evelyn felt a shiver—partly from irritation, partly from something else she didn't want to admit. Something about him was magnetic, impossible to ignore.

She opened her laptop to review the documents, and Damon walked behind her, close enough that she could feel the faint warmth of his body. Her pulse quickened, and she chided herself silently. Focus, Evelyn. Business first.

"You know," Damon said, leaning a little closer, "I admire a woman who can handle herself in a room full of sharks."

Evelyn looked up sharply. "Flattery won't work on me."

He smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Good. I like a challenge."

Before she could respond, the lights flickered, and the large office windows showed shadows moving unnaturally outside.

"What the—?" Evelyn froze.

Damon's expression hardened. "Stay here. Don't move."

In an instant, Evelyn realized this wasn't just a corporate game anymore. Something dangerous had come for them—and suddenly, the charming, infuriating Damon Kwon was the only person she could trust.
