Chapter 11 - Ch 11- Designing Chuychu

"Designing a character?"

Caelus froze for a moment when he heard the system's voice.

Not long after he handed the artificial Pyro Vision to Chuychu, the system notified him that HoYoverse had agreed to add her to the banner.

Moreover, he was required to design her personally.

"When I changed Kinich from Dendro to Pyro, why didn't you make me redesign him?"

Caelus communicated with the system mentally.

[Because Kinich already had a complete kit design. HoYoverse only needed to adjust the visual effects and rebalance the numbers.]

The numbers?

Caelus recalled his experience playing Kinich in his previous life.

Back then, his luck had exploded—two gold pulls in a single ten-pull, bringing Kinich to C1.

During his Elemental Skill window, he could fire four to five shots, each with a multiplier exceeding 1000%, often hitting for 300,000 to 400,000 damage.

And that was when Kinich was Dendro, which made it difficult to fully benefit from certain artifact bonuses.

Now that he was Pyro, accessing powerful artifact synergies would be far easier. His damage ceiling would be even more outrageous.

"Yeah… adjustments are definitely necessary."

Caelus shifted his focus back to Chuychu.

"Chuychu, you're not primarily a combat specialist."

"After receiving your Vision, return to the Flower-Feather Clan and familiarize yourself with its power."

"If there's anything you don't understand, ask your sister. Even though she holds an Anemo Vision, the fundamentals are similar."

Chuychu scratched her cheek awkwardly.

"Your Excellency… my relationship with my sister isn't actually very good."

"Then use this opportunity to improve it."

"And while you're at it, put a bit more effort into your appearance."

After all, she was going into the banner. If she didn't look appealing, how would she generate Emotion Points from players?

"Ah… I understand."

Chuychu didn't quite see how reconciling with her sister was connected to dressing better.

But since the Pyro Archon said so, perhaps her current outfit truly wasn't suitable.

After Chuychu left, Caelus sat at his desk and began drafting her kit.

According to the system, he would provide the skill framework. HoYoverse would handle numerical balance and refine the skill names.

The design had to match four-star standards. If he overloaded her with too many mechanics, it would be rejected.

"In Genshin's design philosophy, any character associated with medicine is almost guaranteed to have healing."

"Even Ifa, the veterinarian, has minor healing."

"So Chuychu must have healing."

A four-star Pyro healer.

And a Natlan native.

If Caelus remembered correctly, Natlan would eventually introduce an artifact set that granted up to a 40% Elemental DMG Bonus to the entire party.

From a support perspective, even if Chuychu herself were mediocre, her identity as a Natlan character alone would make her valuable.

"Looking at it that way, I don't need to give her additional damage-boosting mechanics."

"She just needs healing and off-field Pyro application."

"That should pass review."

A Pyro healer with off-field application…

Caelus immediately thought of Honkai: Star Rail, another HoYoverse title.

There was a character there named Lingsha whose mechanics fit this role perfectly.

"Same company. Borrowing a little inspiration shouldn't hurt."

Thus, Caelus adapted Lingsha's mechanics into a Genshin-style kit for Chuychu.

Name: Chuychu

Vision: Pyro

Rarity: Four-Star

Weapon: Catalyst

Normal Attack: Standard catalyst attack pattern.

Elemental Skill: Summons her companion, Qucusaurus, to periodically deal AoE Pyro damage and heal the entire party.

Elemental Burst: Enters the Nightsoul's Blessing state, dealing AoE Pyro damage and continuously healing all party members for the duration.

Nightsoul's Blessing is a Natlan-exclusive state. Only while in this state can Natlan characters activate the artifact set's 40% Elemental DMG Bonus effect.

Ascension Passive 1: When a party member's HP decreases, Qucusaurus will launch an additional attack and restore HP to all party members. This can trigger even if Qucusaurus is off-field. Can occur once every 2 seconds.

Ascension Passive 2: Increases Chuychu's healing based on her Pyro DMG Bonus.

"…What kind of monster did I just create?"

After finalizing her C0 kit, Caelus realized how perfectly she fit into the current meta-dominant Neuvillette team.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that if Chuychu entered the banner right now, simply replacing Baizhu in Neuvillette compositions, her Spiral Abyss usage rate would exceed 80%.

"System, can Chuychu be added to the banner now?" Caelus asked.

Neuvillette's popularity was at its peak. If Chuychu could ride that wave, she would generate enormous Emotion Points.

The only issue was that Chuychu belonged to Natlan.

How could she appear on Fontaine's banner?

[…]

[Chuychu can be scheduled on a Fontaine banner ahead of time.]

[However, there will be no associated story quest and no matching artifact set.]

After a brief silence, the system replied.

"That's fine."

Without the artifact set, her overall support potential would be reduced.

But the Neuvillette team didn't need more damage buffs. It needed a reliable team-wide healer.

Currently, players used Baizhu or Charlotte.

Baizhu was a five-star and expensive in Primogems. Charlotte relied heavily on her Elemental Burst, which could complicate rotations.

Even without her future artifact synergy, Chuychu's Skill, Burst, and passives all provided team-wide healing.

That alone made her competitive.

A strike from the future.

[Please continue completing Chuychu's character design, Host.]

"No rush."

"Let's take it slow."

Now that Chuychu could appear on a Fontaine banner, Caelus was in a much better mood. He even hummed while drafting her Constellations.

However, thinking about Lingsha's Eidolons, he realized they couldn't simply be copied.

Many of them revolved around Break Effect.

But Genshin Impact had no Break mechanic. Including it would only confuse players.

"Looks like I'll have to rely on my own ideas."

Constellation 1: When Qucusaurus completes an attack, Chuychu restores 5 Energy. This effect can trigger once every 2 seconds.

Even though the artifact set wasn't available yet, Caelus was planning ahead.

Since Chuychu only enters Nightsoul's Blessing during her Elemental Burst, she needed to cast it reliably.

Providing Energy through Constellations would significantly reduce her Energy Recharge requirements.
