Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 — THE BIRTH OF RADIANT BLAZE

The sky above New Eden City no longer looked like a sky.

It had become a vast ocean of shattered colors deep crimson clouds clashing with streaks of electric violet, torn apart by violent arcs of lightning that cracked like the roar of ancient gods. Wind screamed through broken towers and fractured bridges, carrying ash, dust, and glowing embers that drifted slowly through the air like falling stars.

At the heart of the ruined district stood Kael Arden.

His chest rose and fell in ragged breaths, each inhale burning as if his lungs were filled with fire. Sweat streaked down his dirt-smeared face, cutting clean lines through soot and blood. His dark hair once neatly trimmed hung in damp, tangled strands over his glowing eyes, which burned with an unstable golden-red light.

Every nerve in his body screamed.

Every heartbeat felt like thunder crashing inside his chest.

And yet… he remained standing.

The shattered ground beneath his boots pulsed faintly, reacting to the energy coursing through his veins. Thin cracks of molten light spiderwebbed outward, as if the earth itself was struggling to contain his presence.

Across the ruined square, his enemy waited.

Lord Veyrion.

Tall. Pale. Unmoving.

His long silver hair drifted in the violent wind, untouched by dust or blood, glowing faintly under the twisted sky. His eyes an unnatural icy blue held no emotion, no fear, no mercy. Only calm certainty.

"You still stand," Veyrion said, his voice smooth and cold, carrying effortlessly through the storm. "Impressive. But meaningless."

Kael wiped blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, smearing it across his cheek.

"Maybe," he muttered, voice hoarse. "But I'm not done."

Behind him, fragments of shattered buildings floated slowly in the air, suspended by unstable energy fields. Fires burned in distant streets, casting flickering orange reflections across broken glass and twisted steel.

This battlefield was the result of everything that had happened since Chapter One.

The awakening.

The pursuit.

The betrayals.

The sacrifices.

All of it had led here.

And now, the final gate within Kael's soul was beginning to crack open.

The Weight of Power

Kael staggered forward, boots grinding against fractured stone.

Each step felt heavier than the last.

The power inside him his cursed gift, his blessing, his fate raged violently, colliding against invisible walls in his mind. It wanted to escape. To burn. To consume.

His breathing grew shallow.

In.

Out.

In.

Out.

Each breath dragged heat through his chest, igniting pain along his ribs and spine.

His hands trembled.

Not from fear.

From restraint.

Because if he lost control now… everything would vanish.

Behind the veil of pain, memories surged.

The ruins of his childhood home.

The screams echoing through collapsing streets.

The faces of those he failed to save.

The promise he made beside his sister's grave.

I won't let the world burn again.

The ground beneath him glowed brighter.

Veyrion raised a single hand.

The air distorted instantly.

A sphere of compressed energy formed in his palm, spinning violently, swallowing light and sound alike. Space itself warped around it, bending like fragile glass.

"This ends now," Veyrion said.

He released the attack.

The blast tore forward.

Kael's instincts screamed.

He crossed his arms, energy surging outward as a defensive shield formed instinctively around his body. The impact detonated with the force of a collapsing star.

The world vanished in white.

Breaking Through

Kael was hurled backward.

His body slammed into the remains of a collapsed tower, shattering stone and steel alike. Dust exploded outward as the structure collapsed entirely, burying him beneath tons of rubble.

For a moment, the battlefield fell silent.

Then

The rubble erupted.

A column of golden-red flame exploded skyward, scattering debris like weightless feathers. At its center, Kael rose slowly, suspended in midair, wrapped in roaring energy.

His eyes blazed.

His hair lifted as if caught in a constant updraft.

Flames spiraled around his limbs, shifting in color gold at the core, deep crimson at the edges, threaded with faint arcs of white lightning.

The pressure alone forced the remaining structures to tremble.

Veyrion's expression finally shifted.

Not fear.

But interest.

"So," he murmured, "you've reached it."

Kael hovered, breathing heavily, flames pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat.

"What is this?" Kael demanded.

"The power you were always meant to awaken," Veyrion replied. "The legacy sealed within your bloodline."

The flames around Kael surged higher, stretching toward the fractured sky.

"Radiant Blaze."

The words echoed like thunder across the battlefield.

Something inside Kael clicked.

The chaotic fire stabilized.

The burning pain transformed into blazing clarity.

His senses sharpened.

He could hear distant heartbeats.

Feel the shifting of air currents.

See microscopic fractures spreading across the ground.

The world slowed.

"This… is Radiant Blaze," Kael whispered.

A fierce grin spread across his face.

"Then let's finish this."

Clash of Titans

Kael vanished.

The shockwave shattered the air where he had been standing.

He reappeared in front of Veyrion in less than a heartbeat, his fist already cocked back, wrapped in condensed stellar fire.

Veyrion barely had time to raise his guard.

The punch landed.

The explosion flattened everything within a hundred-meter radius, carving a massive crater into the battlefield. Towers collapsed like brittle toys. Glass vaporized. The air ignited.

Veyrion was hurled backward, skidding across molten ground before slamming into a half-standing structure.

For the first time, blood stained his lips.

Kael didn't hesitate.

He followed.

Each step across the air left blazing footprints of fire, like burning stars fading behind him.

Their fists collided again.

And again.

And again.

Each impact sent shockwaves ripping through the city, splitting streets apart, tearing apart entire blocks. Lightning clashed against flame. Darkness shattered beneath light.

Their movements became blurs too fast for the human eye, too violent for fragile reality.

Veyrion slashed downward, his arm coated in void energy.

Kael crossed his forearm.

The impact sent Kael spiraling downward, crashing through multiple layers of collapsed roadway before slamming into the underground transit tunnels.

The earth swallowed him.

For a brief second, silence returned.

Then

A blazing eruption tore upward.

Kael burst back to the surface, body spinning midair as flames reshaped themselves into glowing wings behind his back.

His breathing was heavy now.

His muscles burned.

But his will remained unbroken.

The Cost of Power

Deep inside Kael's chest, something strained.

Radiant Blaze was not a gentle power.

It was raw creation.

Unfiltered destruction.

To wield it meant burning away parts of oneself.

Every second he maintained it, his life force was consumed.

He could feel it.

Time slipping.

His heartbeat slowing.

His limbs growing heavier.

But he refused to stop.

Veyrion steadied himself, wiping blood from his chin.

"Magnificent," he said softly. "But unsustainable."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"Maybe."

He raised both hands.

The flames around him compressed violently, shrinking inward, condensing into a blinding core of pure light.

Energy howled.

The air screamed.

"Then I'll end it before I run out."

The sky darkened.

Clouds spiraled downward.

Lightning converged.

A massive sphere of radiant fire formed above Kael, growing larger with each passing second, casting golden light across the ruins of New Eden City.

Veyrion raised both arms.

A towering wall of void energy surged upward to meet the descending inferno.

Two forces collided.

Light.

Darkness.

Creation.

Oblivion.

The explosion shattered the horizon.

After the Storm

When the light finally faded, silence followed.

Not the peaceful kind.

The broken kind.

New Eden City lay in ruins beyond recognition. Entire districts were gone. The ground had sunken, reshaped by catastrophic force.

At the center of the devastation, Kael knelt.

His flames flickered weakly, barely clinging to life.

His breathing was shallow.

Each breath hurt.

His vision blurred.

Across from him, Veyrion lay embedded in a collapsed wall, his once-pristine form shattered and bleeding. His silver hair was burned black at the edges. His eyes were dim.

Slowly, painfully, Kael forced himself to stand.

He staggered forward.

Step by step.

Each movement cost him everything.

He stopped before Veyrion.

"This… ends now," Kael whispered.

Veyrion coughed, blood spilling onto broken stone.

"Perhaps," he said faintly. "But you have awakened something far greater than either of us."

Kael tightened his fist.

Flames gathered one last time.

"For everyone you destroyed… for everything you stole…"

He drove his blazing hand forward.

Light consumed the battlefield.

A New Dawn

When consciousness returned, Kael lay on cold stone.

Rain fell softly against his skin.

The storm had finally begun to fade.

Above him, the shattered sky slowly repaired itself, fragments knitting back together, revealing streaks of pale dawn light for the first time in days.

His body felt empty.

Exhausted.

But alive.

Footsteps approached.

Familiar ones.

Slow. Careful.

"Kael…"

He turned his head weakly.

Aarav stood nearby, bloodied but standing. Ishita knelt beside him, her dark hair plastered to her face by rain, eyes shimmering with relief.

"You idiot," she whispered, voice trembling. "You almost died."

Kael smiled faintly.

"Still here."

They helped him sit up.

Around them, survivors emerged from shelters and rubble, staring at the destroyed battlefield in stunned silence.

For the first time, hope flickered.

Radiant Blaze had been unleashed.

And the world had survived.

But Kael knew

This was only the beginning.

Because the power within him was now awake.

And the universe would soon respond.
