Chapter 3 - The First Verdict

Adrian barely slept that night. The golden symbol on his wrist still burned faintly, pulsing like a heartbeat. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the courtroom, the innocent man's face, and the smug expression of Marcus Draven.

By morning, his mind had made a decision. He couldn't wait. If this Law had marked him, it demanded action.

He headed straight to the courthouse, where another case was underway a fraud trial involving a prominent businessman. Adrian had no official standing to interfere. But he didn't care.

Inside the courtroom, the air was thick with anticipation. The judge droned on, oblivious to the subtle manipulations happening behind the scenes: evidence tampered with, witnesses coached, and lawyers bribed.

Adrian felt the glow intensify on his wrist. He closed his eyes for a second and focused.

"The truth is here. Lies cannot hide."

When he opened them, the world seemed… sharper. He could see the lies.

A witness's testimony? Half-truths, carefully rehearsed. Documents? Forged signatures, subtle alterations. Even the prosecutor's confident tone betrayed hidden panic.

He understood now. The Law didn't just mark him it gave him the ability to perceive deception.

He took a deep breath. And then, without anyone noticing, he whispered under his breath:

"Not guilty."

It wasn't a legal statement. It wasn't even real words it was a command from the Law itself.

Across the room, a series of small but undeniable events occurred. The judge hesitated, papers shuffled mysteriously, and the fraudulent businessman's smirk faltered. Witnesses stuttered. Evidence reappeared in its correct form.

By the time the gavel came down, it was a clean verdict: guilty.

A murmur ran through the courtroom. No one could explain why it had changed. But Adrian knew. His first intervention had worked.

As he stepped outside, Elena was waiting. Her eyes widened slightly.

"You… did it," she said softly. "You changed the verdict."

Adrian flexed his wrist. "I don't know how long I can control it. But I saw the lies and I made them… real."

Elena nodded, her expression serious. "This is bigger than either of us imagined. Every time you use it, they will notice. Marcus Draven… he'll know. And he won't like it."

Adrian clenched his fists. "Then we make sure he can't stop us."

The city outside the courthouse continued its rhythm, unaware that justice had just gained a new player one who could see through every lie, every manipulation, every betrayal.

And somewhere in the shadows, Draven's eyes narrowed. Someone had just made the first move.

The game of lies had begun.
