Chapter 32 - Explanation

After an hour Nevooa had finally woken up. Komodo was sitting on a rock gazing the distance. And Invierno was laying on the ground looking at the sky.

The sky was partly cloudy but was a blue as ever.

"Komodo." Nevooa sat up, "What are we going to do now?"

"We're going to sit here for another hour so you can get your strength back, then we will start what I wanted to do."

"And what was it that you wanted?"

Komodo thought for a second, "Alright, I'll tell you what I wanted."

"In a chamber below the mountain there lives a spirit. And I need you two to help me fight against a spirit. The spirit should be around low soldier level and holds a weapon that absorbs life energy. I'm going to give that weapon to Nevooa after the fight is finished."

"If the spirit is low soldier level why did you bring us?" Invierno asked.

"Anything can happen in a fight against a spirit. It's almost unpredictable what could happen."

"A spirit? What do they look like and why do they exist?" Nevooa asked.

"A spirit is any living being that has died and has not passed on to the afterlife. So they roam in the living world, usually an awakener would defeat them and they would go to the afterlife. But if the spirit is to strong then they would trap them into a certain area."

Nevooa thought for a second before asking, "So how strong is that low soldier level spirit?"

"He's... a spirit I trapped to keep the weapon safe." Komodo looked up, "The weapon was made by my wife and had the power to absorb life energy. We both had no use case for it but we didn't want to give it to someone. And we didn't want to get it stolen too. Eventually we went on a mission to stop an oppressing ruler that happened to be an awakener. And after his death he turned into a spirit and we threw him down and sealed him into a chamber to protect the weapon."

"Alright then, it should be an easy fight right?" Invierno asked.

"It should be."

At this moment Nevooa realized something. He didn't know actually know Komodo. He knew pieces but they were all loosely connected, and when he tried to put them together there would be a large gap between him. He knew bits from Komodo's youth but the fifty years that Komodo said he spent 'alone' he didn't know.

"With so much time, what did he do?" Nevooa asked himself.

Nevooa was waiting for Invierno to ask Komodo a question like this but he soon realized that Invierno is too dumb to ask a question.

Nevooa thought that Komodo had spent most of his times doing missions, but for the past week he didn't even try to do one. There had to be at least some soldier level missions he could do right? And how had he not have died yet he wasn't exceptionally strong or anything.

Over and over Nevooa tried to grasp Komodo's life in the awkward silence. But then he also realized something.

"Who is Invierno?"

Invierno and Nevooa only know each other because of a mission. And after that mission they had somewhat became friends while fighting in the dojo.

Nevooa suddenly broke the silence, "Since we're here right now why don't we talk about ourselves to each other. I- I want to get to know you guys better."

Both Invierno and Komodo looked a Nevooa slightly widening their eyes.

"If you guys are too afraid to talk about yourselves first then I'll go first."

"I was raised in a small village near a cliff and I spent most of my life there. While I was there, there was this opening on the side of a mountain. After many years I had finally gone inside that opening. And that's how I was introduced to the Nozon Empire."

Komodo had a slight bit of regret in his eyes.

"I'll go next then." Invierno said, "I was raised in the Hand Clan, for over twenty years. I always skipped academy time to go to the dojo. I battled harder and harder. And had finally reached middle soldier level at just fourteen and even grew a new pair of arms. But then I realized one day, 'was there anything more important in life than getting stronger?' so I left the Hand Clan for ten years before coming back. And I was assigned my first mission, and that's how I met you guys."

"Did you ever find the more important thing in life?" Komodo asked.

"Yes."

"And what is it?"

"It's to be free."

"So why are still in the Hand Clan?"

"I..."

Invierno shivered.

"If you don't want to talk about it it's fine." Nevooa said. "And what's your life story, Komodo?"

"I too was raised in the Hand Clan. I met my wife at the academy and we formed a bond and later got married. But then she died for having opposing ideals to the clan. I lived in fifty years of solitude after that."

Komodo spoke about this in a somewhat trembling tone. Though he could hide it pretty well it was still noticeable.

"I think I'm starting to know each other better." Nevooa said in his mind.

Now that they have all said their life stories to each other they had mutually knew each other better. They were no longer the strangers that slightly knew each other. But they now were more than that. They were now friends.
