Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Thomas Xu

The other party's gaze was extremely sharp, evoking an unsettling feeling as if one were being watched by a hungry beast. He stood quietly in the pool of blood, observing everyone in the arena. Whenever he looked at someone, his eyes would pierce through, making an unabashed connection with the other person. Any woman who caught his eye, including Bai Ru and Cao Mei, would involuntarily turn pale, almost instinctively lowering their heads, not daring to meet his gaze!

However, when the frail man made eye contact with Jack, he froze for a moment. Perhaps instinctively, he slowly raised his right hand, which held the hunting knife, to his chest and expressionlessly said to Jack, "They came to kill me, so I killed them. Please let me go!"

"The feet are on your body!" Jack stared motionless at the other person. He didn't draw his gun, nor did he look as tense as Bai Ru and the others; he simply looked calmly at the man across from him, who seemed quite threatening.

"But your dog has already locked onto me, and it poses a real threat!" The frail man awkwardly shifted his right foot and glanced at the top of the artificial hill beside him.

"You little brat, you're quite something! I was just about to bite your butt, and you actually dared to charge in and kill someone?" A teasing voice suddenly came from the tall artificial hill, and as he spoke, a red hunting dog nearly the height of a person jumped down from a hidden spot on the hill, playfully circling around the small man as if very interested.

"A talking dog?" The thin man was taken aback and looked at Michael with great caution.

"Earth pig, you can still sing, huh!" Michael rolled his eyes, looking quite smug.

"Can I leave now?" The thin man took a small step back, glancing at Michael out of the corner of his eye while looking at Jack, but the dagger in his hand remained subtly pointed at Jack. He was not like those rookies from earlier who would foolishly consider Cao Mei as the main force of this group.

"Okay, but you have to answer me a few questions." Jack nodded, and there was a smile on his face, for no other reason than because the boy's eyes reminded him of himself many years ago, smart and decisive, with a hint of ruthlessness.

"You want to ask about the gathering place? I can tell you, but you have to let me take away the food in their bags."

The thin man pointed to the backpack on the mutilated corpse. Seeing Jack's acquiescence, he immediately squatted down and opened their backpacks, then took the food and sat on the back of the young mutilated corpse. He didn't feel disgusted at all. He stuffed a piece of ham into his mouth and muttered to Jack, "Okay, you can ask."

"I think this is not a good place to ask questions. The rain has stopped, and the traces of blood under your body are enough to attract all the living corpses within a ten-kilometer radius of here." Jack looked at the man who seemed to suddenly relax and smiled lightly.

"I know, so you have to ask quickly. After asking, I have to leave as soon as possible." The man was probably very hungry, just like the reincarnation of a starving ghost. He swallowed a piece of Shuanghui's square leg in a few mouthfuls, then smacked his lips with unsatisfied content, and took out a lot of food from the backpack of the mutilated corpse, tearing it up and swallowing it down impatiently.

"I have a proposal. You help us clean up these mutilated corpses. I'll treat you to Wuliangye and there are Chinese cigarettes waiting for you." Jack smiled playfully and raised his eyebrows.

"Really?" The thin man's eyes lit up as expected, and he looked at Jack with some surprise.

"As long as you're not afraid," Jack shrugged and nodded nonchalantly.

"What else am I afraid of? I've shaved my whole body and there's not even a ounce of flesh. If you want to kill me, can I run faster than a bullet?" The thin man thought very clearly and understood his situation very well. After swallowing a few mouthfuls of the food in his hands, he clapped his hands and stood up. He picked up the mutilated body that was still warm and walked outside the yard. He shouted to Jack, "Wait for ten minutes and I'll clean it up for you."

The thin man went to clean up the mutilated corpses, and Jack quickly called on everyone to get busy, blocking the door and unloading supplies. However, the canteen on the first floor must have been robbed. Everyone searched inside and outside several times, and the results they obtained were very limited. However, some dry goods and other foods were found in the restaurant on the second floor, which was considered a consolation prize for everyone.

When everyone finished cleaning the restaurant on the second floor and started boiling water to cook, the thin man had already rushed up. As soon as he saw the array of delicious food placed by the women next to the pot, he immediately wiped the drool from his mouth, rubbed his hands together, and said with a grin to the cooking Cao Mei, "Sister beauty, how about I trade you two packs of instant noodles for some ham soup? Your soup smells so good!"

"Hehe~ You're not stupid, huh? You think you can trade our Jinhua ham for two packs of instant noodles?" Cao Mei looked up, amused, at the thin man.

"Then how about I add this?" The thin man looked at the bubbling thick soup, his throat moving nervously, and hurriedly pulled out a delicate gift box from his Marcus backpack, squatting down with a flattering smile to hand it to Cao Mei, saying, "This is a good thing, found it in a Mercedes this morning, a complete set of Lancôme cosmetics! Hehe~ Even though you're already stunning, good skin still needs maintenance, right?"

"Oh~ You have quite a sweet tongue, huh? A big man like you carrying this?" Cao Mei took the gift box, glanced at it, casually set it aside, and then looked at the man in front of her with a playful expression, rolling her eyes and saying, "Don't call me sister here, we might not even know who's older!"

"That's a term of respect, it has nothing to do with age. Don't look at me, a post-80s guy, maintaining myself like a post-70s one; that's because I don't have time to shave. If I shave, I'm a genuine post-85 flower boy!" The thin man shamelessly chuckled, proudly stroking the stubble on his chin.

"You think you're a flower boy? Aren't you afraid I'll laugh my teeth out? Go over there and chat with our Lord Lin, I'll call you when the soup is ready!" Cao Mei shook her head with a smile, finding this little man quite interesting. The fierce aura he had when killing just moments ago had completely vanished, as if he had turned into a different person.

"I knew you were a good sister, not only beautiful but also kind-hearted! You must have been a female bodhisattva in your past life!" The man smiled excitedly, giving a thumbs up, then trotted over to Jack, who was sitting at a Thomas dining table, nodding with a smile. He was not shy at all, casually took a cigarette from a pack of Zhonghua on the table, lit it, and took a deep drag, saying with delight, "I haven't smoked in over half a month, it's killing me!"

"What's your name?" Jack chuckled and threw the remaining half pack of cigarettes to him.

"Thomas Xu!" The thin man happily stuffed all the cigarettes into his sweatpants, unhesitatingly told Jack his name, and then grinned, asking, "What should I call you, big brother?"

"Just call me Jack. Have you been a special forces soldier?" Jack leaned back in his chair, stretching his body, carefully examining the other person. From the way Thomas Xu had killed earlier, it was clear he was a trained veteran, and not someone an ordinary soldier could compare to.

"I have served in the military, but I have never been a special forces soldier. However, after retiring, I joined a security company as a bodyguard and was sent to Israel for a year of training. Personally, I feel that my skills should be no worse than those of special forces soldiers!" Thomas Xu said, taking deep puffs of his cigarette, his face full of confidence.

"Huh? Chased around by five local thugs, and you call that not worse than a special forces soldier?" Hu Laoda, who was sitting at the nearby table looking gloomy while smoking, immediately raised his head upon hearing this and looked at Thomas Xu with disdain.

"What's so great about special forces? No matter how strong they are, you can't beat a local thug with a gun when you're unarmed, right?" Thomas Xu rolled his eyes, raised three fingers at Hu Laoda, and said, "They've been chasing me for three days, eight of them came out with two guns, and on the first day, they killed three of my guys. One of them even emptied his gun, yet he didn't even touch a hair on my head!"
