Have you ever seen a conversation between a God and a Human?
Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Yet in the year 9045, humanity finally managed to reach the Gods.
In front of me stood two figures widely known as the fathers of Relativity and the father of electric current. They were conversing with Zeus and Odin.
Yes, you are not seeing things wrong—Zeus and Odin, the Gods of other Gods, were talking with humans.
In the ears of those two men were devices similar to earphones, used to truly understand the language of the Gods.
But before that, let us return to the beginning.
"This is the highest stage of human evolution! At last we can reach the Gods who created our world! We are the pinnacle of the evolutionary cycle!"
The speech was delivered by the inventor of the light bulb, Thomas Alva Edison, followed by a roaring wave of support.
I supported him—truly, wholeheartedly.
Because I played a major role in all of this.
"This is the Portal we created. You may call it the Bridge of Origin. This Portal will connect our world with the world of the Gods!"
The applause that filled the entire venue was truly thunderous.
"That's enough applause, my brothers and sisters. Now let us hear more about this Portal from its core inventor! Please welcome—Atma!"
I, Atma, stepped through the crowd and walked toward the stage where the inventor of the light bulb stood.
"Hello. You may know me as the discoverer of the Ember of Prometheus, precisely 7,019 years ago. I found the Ember of Prometheus, a relic left behind by the Titan named Prometheus, located in historical sites across Greece. Along with the Ember, we also obtained a letter from Prometheus. I will read it."
O mortal beings,
Hear my call and learn!
I shall grant you this Fire, so you may face the Darkness of the world!
This Fire is my final gift, and also a warning.
The Gods are watching all that you do!
If one day you reach them with this Fire, then proclaim it to them!
For at that very moment, you shall be forever freed from mortal chains.
And tell the Gods—the Fire of Prometheus shall never fade!
"That, more or less, was the Titan's wish millions of years ago. With the Fire of Prometheus, we can reach the tools of immortality, the edge of an endlessly expanding universe, and even revive those who are no longer here. Of course, this will bring both pros and cons, but evolution never cares about both sides of a coin at the same time."
"That is all."
I stepped down from the stage. Some applauded, and I also knew some disliked my speech.
"With the Ember of Prometheus, we can finally achieve the impossible! Let us see how the Gods will react."
The enthusiastic cheers from the father of the inventor of the lamp
And that is where we arrive
The two inventors of the Bridge of Origin—Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla. I do not truly know how they utilized the Ember of Prometheus, but here we are.
You probably already know—there was a confused look on Zeus and Odin's faces. They seemed unable to believe it.
Nikola eventually explained that humanity had reached the peak of evolution, along with many other things, to Zeus and Odin.
"This is impossible."
A firm voice from the God of Thunder. He clearly did not like our presence.
"I refuse to accept that mortal beings can reach our world. Who granted you permission to come here?"
Yes, it was merely a question of disbelief. But at the same time, I felt a pressure piercing my chest. Breathing became difficult. I thought I was going to die.
That was what I thought—but the scientists had anticipated this. We were able to withstand the pressure that could even shake the sun.
"We are beings that constantly evolve. The restrictions and obstacles you impose are meaningless, because in the end we will evolve and ignore them all. The laws and rules you created no longer apply."
Albert spoke firmly, opposing Zeus's clearly condescending question.
"Calm yourself, Zeus. Let them explain."
With Odin's commanding words, the pressure emitted by Zeus suddenly vanished.
"We have reached the peak of evolution, once again we state it. We have eliminated the laws and rules you established—or rather, we ignore them because we have adapted beyond them. The laws of physics? We have surpassed them, even controlled them. Causality? No longer relevant—we are no longer bound by it due to our evolution. Space and time? We control them."
"Haha… truly, you are limitless, aren't you?"
Odin laughed and praised us, though I felt that praise was not entirely good for us.
"Very well. You may indeed be equal to us now. So what do you want?"
Ask the God of Gods. To be honest, I felt something was odd about his offer.
"Simple. Why did you create us? Why did you create the mortal world for us?"
Nikola asked aloud, a confusion that had been at the root for hundreds— thousands— millions of years.
"Odin, will you be honest with them?"
"No. I will tell them everything they need to know."
Odin raised his hand, and thick black smoke emerged, enveloping the three of us.
Thousands—no. Millions—no. Perhaps an uncountable amount of information without end flooded our minds. Were we supposed to understand all of it?
"Enough."
Zeus's voice echoed as Odin's dark smoke disappeared.
"You have seen it, haven't you? We are not beings like you. We are complex—so complex that even complexity itself cannot define us."
"I object. You're not as powerful as you think!"
Nikola declared firmly. Honestly, I was shocked by his outburst.
"Then I will offer you something."
"Speak, Odin."
"You are Nikola, yes? What else do you want? Humans are never satisfied, are they?"
"Of course you have to answer my question earlier. And, we will remain in the mortal world, but do not interfere with us. We will be free from you."
These two still want a clearer answer? Is the information flowing madly through our heads not enough? They're truly knowledge-crazed.
"Well, we will grant that—if you defeat us in the War of Divinity."
"What are you saying, Odin!? You're involving mortals in our affairs?"
"Calm down, Zeus. They already stand equal to us. There is no reason not to accept them. However, the fact that they are still mortal cannot be denied."
"What's wrong with you all? Yes, we are mortals—but now it is merely a name. We stand equal to you."
"Can you prove that?"
Ask the god of thunder.
"Of course we can. Explain the War of Divinity in more detail, Odin."
"The War of Divinity is a battle held when one Orvian has passed. It is meant to determine which God is worthy or unworthy of the throne."
"What is an Orvian?"
"An Orvian is a unit of time in this realm. Its name differs depending on which cosmology you are in. Simply put—one Orvian in the mortal world is as if ℵ₀ has reached its end."
"Wait… does Aleph-Null truly have an end?"
I asked. It was extremely confusing. Something without an end… ending here?
"You are in our world—a world that has surpassed your understanding."
Zeus said arrogantly.
"So? Do all of you accept my challenge?"
"How does the system work?"
"The War of Divinity usually has thirteen fighters, and victory can only be achieved if one of them surrenders—some may even die."
"You still have the concept of death?"
"Our concept of death is different from yours. Ours is far more dreadful."
"What if we die with the same concept as you?"
These scientists, honestly—their curiosity surpassed even the pressure we were under.
"Can you see the end of something infinite?"
"For now, no."
"Can you define the final form of the infinite?"
"Of course not."
"That is what it feels like. The concepts in this world cannot be defined by you mortals."
The scientists pondered intensely, veins visible on their temples. They were thinking that hard.
"We accept—on one condition."
"You humans, honestly! Even after being given the chance to speak like this, you still want more!"
"Enough, Zeus. Let them speak."
"Our condition is simple—we are allowed to do anything to win."
"Would you strike when we are unaware?"
"We are not as sly and cowardly as you, Odin."
The aura emitted by the being named Odin this time showed excitement rather than hostility.
"I accept."
A firm voice that cared little for others' opinions.
And so, the War of Divinity between the Creator and His Creation began.
Who would become the fighters?
