Chapter 78 - Chapter 98: The Frozen Frequency and the Sound of Silence

The transition from the neon-bleeding, oxygen-deprived chaos of Nar Shaddaa to the blinding, absolute white of Hoth was a localized environmental shock that Revan Shan met with a thermal cloak, a high-yield space heater, and a very specific brand of 12th-Doctor-esque skepticism. It was the tail end of 96 BBY, and as the star-date ticked toward 95 BBY, the Black Pearl ghosted into the Hoth system.

The planet hung in the void like a jagged diamond, silent and forgotten. To the rest of the galaxy, Hoth was a statistical footnote—a place where ships went to die and sensors went to freeze. To Revan, it was the perfect location for a "Silent Meditation Audit."

Revan sat in his Sovereign's Command Chair, which was currently reclined at a forty-five-degree "Cryogenic Contemplation" angle. Calculus was curled into a tight orange ball on the thermal vent of the console, while Theorem, the silver-and-black kitten, was currently industriously "auditing" the thick fur of Chewbacca's ankles. The Wookiee Co-Captain let out a soft, huffing growl, his breath visible in the cabin's chilled air.

"You see, Chewie," Revan murmured, his voice carrying the dry, slightly manic rasp of the 12th Doctor as he sipped a latte that was 90% steam. "According to my 1st Doctorate in Theoretical Physics, silence isn't the absence of sound. It's a localized vacuum of intent. Nar Shaddaa was an audit of noise; Hoth is an audit of the spaces between the noise. It's statistically magnificent and remarkably tidy."

The Logistical Purge: Maz and the Temple

Before they made the final descent into the frozen wastes, Revan decided it was time to conduct a "Cargo Hold Audit." The Black Pearl was becoming a localized museum of Old Republic variables, and it was time to move some stock.

He opened a secure, encrypted Kyber-Quantum link to Takodana. Maz Kanata's face appeared on the holoprojector, her large goggles magnifying her ancient, knowing eyes.

"Revan," Maz chuckled, her voice like grinding stones. "Still chasing ghosts and dust?"

"I prefer the term 'Historical Preservation,' Maz," Revan grinned, the 11th Doctor's spark lighting up his eyes. "According to my ledger, I have some variables that are taking up far too much room. I'm sending you the HK-01 Series Chassis, 50KG of Rare Ion-Crystals, and those Old Republic Armor Plates we found on Dxun. Consider it a localized contribution to your collection."

Maz leaned back, her eyes narrowing. "That's a heavy price, Maverick. What do you want in return?"

"Oh, just the usual. Credits for the 'Kindness Fund' and a seat at the bar when I eventually make it to Takodana," Revan winked. "And Maz? I have a special gift for you when I arrive. Something old, something white, and something very candidate for 'Kandosii'. Think of it as a teaser for the audit."

> Financial Audit Update:

> * Previous Secret Credits: 3.98 Billion

> * Sale Total (Estimated): +120 Million

> * New Secret Credits: 4.1 Billion

Once the deal was struck, Revan turned to Miner. "Right, Librarian. Pack up the 3x Ancient Hilts and those 11 Meditation Focus Crystals from Onderon. Send them to the Temple Archives via the next automated courier droid. Attach a note: 'For the Council's contemplation. Try to be nice to the history, don't break the hilts, and maybe—just maybe—try a little silent meditation. It does wonders for the frown lines. - The Auditor.'"

The Silent Search: The Ghost in the Ice

The Black Pearl landed in the southern hemisphere, nestled within a canyon of blue ice that masked the ship's profile. For the first half of 95 BBY, the routine was one of absolute, sovereign stillness. Revan spent his mornings napping in a thermal hammock, his afternoons hiking across the glaciers with Chewie, and his evenings watching the aurora with the cats tucked into his robes.

However, during a "Statistical Sweep" of the localized magnetic fields, R2-D6 let out a series of high-pitched, rhythmic chirps.

"What is it, D6?" Revan asked, stepping off the ramp into the biting wind. "Did you find a Tauntaun with a grudge?"

D6 beeped a complex frequency. He had found a localized "Logic Stutter" buried four hundred meters beneath the primary glacier.

"Right then," Revan muttered, pulling his Sonic Screwdriver from his belt. "According to my 6th Doctorate in Advanced Dimensional Mechanics, that's not a geological echo. That's a broadcast. A very old, very polite broadcast."

They trekked across the ice, HK-47 conducting a "Thermal Perimeter Audit" while Chewie used his Wookiee strength to clear the initial layers of permafrost. Revan knelt by a patch of translucent blue ice and pressed the tip of the Sonic Screwdriver to the surface.

Whirrr-vwoop-trill.

> The Cryogenic Resonance Equation (\Psi_{cryo}):

> By his internal audit, Revan synchronized the Sonic's vibration with the molecular density of the ice. He wasn't just drilling; he was using Mechu-deru to communicate with the frozen circuitry below, convincing the ancient relay that it was time to wake up for an audit.

The ice groaned, a localized fissure opening to reveal a subterranean chamber. Inside, perfectly preserved by the cold, sat a High Republic Communication Relay. It was a masterpiece of white-and-gold aesthetic, a "Pathfinder" node designed to bridge the gap between the Core and the Outer Rim during the Great Expansion.

The High Republic Loot: 95 BBY

Revan spent three months auditing the station. It wasn't a military outpost; it was a localized lighthouse for the Jedi of a century ago.

"Look at this, Chewie," Revan said, holding up a shimmering data-crystal. "According to my 10th Doctorate in Galactic History, this relay was abandoned during the Nihil crises. They didn't lose it; they just forgot it was here because the ledger was too messy."

Hoth Relay Audit Tally:

* High Republic Data-Crystals: 5x (Containing lost hyperspace "Paths" through the Mid-Rim).

* Kyber-Quantum Processing Array: 1x (Ancient but compatible with the Pearl's computer).

* Gilded Phrik Components: 20KG (High-grade decorative and structural alloy).

* High Republic Jedi Signal-Repeater: 1x (Intact and functional).

"Brilliant," Revan grinned, handing the processing array to Eleven. "Add this to the Star-Sass. According to my audit, it'll increase the navigational probability of our jump-snaps by another 12%."

The Twenty-Year Itinerary Check

As the mid-point of 95 BBY arrived, Revan sat on the ramp of the Black Pearl, watching the sun set over the white horizon. He pulled up his datapad, the blue text shimmering in the cold air.

| Planet | Status | Key Loot |

|---|---|---|

| Naboo | 104 BBY Completed | Rakatan Stabilizer |

| Ord Mantell | 103 BBY Completed | HK-01 Chassis (Sold) |

| Kashyyyk | 102 BBY Completed | Tree Restoration / Ion-Crystals |

| Corellia | 102 BBY Completed | Speeder-Snap Record |

| Chandrila | 101 BBY Completed | Saved Mothma's Grandmother |

| Toydaria | 100 BBY Completed | Thought-Vault |

| Onderon | 99 BBY Completed | Beast-Gauntlets (Donated) |

| Dxun | 98 BBY Completed | Crusader Helmet |

| Nar Shaddaa | 97 BBY Completed | Revanite Datacron |

| Hoth | 95 BBY Completed | High Republic Relay / Path-Data |

"Ten down, ten to go," Revan mused. "We're officially halfway through the most relaxed adventure in the history of the Force. According to my audit, we're exactly where we need to be."

The Sovereign's Nap: End of 95 BBY

The year drew to a close with a localized celebration on the bridge. Chewie had managed to synthesize a "Wookiee-style Hot Chocolate," and the cats were currently chasing each other through the thermal vents.

Revan slumped into his chair, Calculus on his lap, Theorem on his shoulder.

"Status, Cortana," Revan whispered, the 12th Doctor's weary satisfaction settling over him.

"The Hoth data is archived. The 4.1 Billion credits are stable. The Star-Sass has been upgraded with the High Republic array," Cortana reported. "The Council has received the hilts and crystals. Master Sol's latest message was just a single, exasperated sigh in binary."

"Brilliant," Revan yawned, the chair reclining to the Calculated Nap Angle of 134.5 degrees. "Adventure is the journey, D6. And 95 BBY was a masterpiece of ice, silence, and gold-plated Pathfinders."

He closed his eyes. The Maverick was at peace. The "Golden Age" of the Republic continued its slow, oblivious drift toward the fire, but in the heart of a black freighter, the books were balanced, the fire was warm, and the Auditor was dreaming of clouds.

"Try to be nice, 94 BBY," Revan murmured into the dark. "I'll see you at Bespin."
