Chapter 163 - Chapter 182: The Academic Sabbatical and the Ten-Year Long

The transition from the frantic, galaxy-shaping events of the Naboo Blockade back to the rolling, silver-grassed tranquility of Chandrila was a localized thermodynamic relief that Revan Shan met with a vintage academic waistcoat, a fresh batch of Naboo-spice latte pods, and a very particular brand of 11th-Doctor-esque pedagogical focus. As 31 BBY settled into the galactic ledger, the Maverick Master—biologically 122 years old but looking every bit the cheeky twenty-three-year-old scholar—decided that if the Sith were going to spend the next decade quietly building a shadow empire, he would spend it getting his thirteenth doctorate and bankrolling the eventual resistance.

Revan sat in the high-ceilinged library of the Chandrila Academy of Sciences, surrounded by physical data-slabs and the comforting scent of ancient parchment. Calculus, the orange patriarch Loth-cat, was currently napping on a stack of sociological treatises, while Theorem was industriously auditing the structural integrity of a nearby floating reading-lamp.

"You see, Theorem," Revan murmured, his voice a dry, rhythmic rasp as he adjusted his shades. "The galaxy is currently suffering from a 'Stability Delusion.' According to my current research into Macro-Sociological Engineering, the Republic believes its foundations are made of durasteel, but they're actually made of highly leveraged debt and 'Nice' intentions. It's remarkably untidy."

I. The Academic Routine: Trading Kyber for Goodwill

While the Jedi Council was busy trying to find the missing Sith Master, Revan was excelling in his thirteenth academic pursuit. He spent his mornings in the classroom, blending in as a brilliant but eccentric prodigy. His focus this year was on Ethical Infrastructure—the science of how a society remains kind when its leadership fails.

However, he wasn't just a student; he was a silent partner to the galaxy's greatest minds. Utilizing his Kyber-Quantum informatics data, he began a series of "Technical Exchanges" with inventors and designers.

The highlight of the semester was a series of encrypted holoconferences with a young, brilliant engineer named Galen Erso.

"Galen, your theory on crystalline energy amplification is statistically magnificent," Revan noted during a session, sassing the nervous scientist with a supportive grin. "But you're looking at the lattice as a cage. According to my audit, if you utilize a Kyber-resonant harmonic stabilizer, you can double the output without the thermal stutter. I've sent you the math. Use it to build something kind, not just something powerful."

By partnering with Erso and other rising stars at Kuat Drive Yards, Incom, and Corellia StarDrive, Revan was building a network of "Goodwill Variables." These men and women would eventually be the ones building the fleets of the future, and according to Revan's audit, having them owe a favor to "Dr. Jon Smith" was a 100% efficient use of his time.

II. The Financial Audit: The Ten-Year Long

Late in the evening, tucked away in the Chandrila Safe House—a seaside villa that smelled of salt and luxury—Revan convened a high-security meeting with his financial trio: Kaelen, Vara, and Jax.

"Right then, team," Revan chirped, leaning back in a Sovereign-style chair on the balcony. "The Naboo short position made us a localized fortune. The Maverick Trust is currently sitting at 46.8 Billion Credits. But according to my heart, we're just getting started. I want to initiate a 'Long-Range Tectonic Pivot'."

Jax, the investment banker, looked at the projected charts. "Master Shan, you want to move 10 Billion Credits into a ten-year long position? Until the end of 21 BBY?"

"Exactly," Revan noted, his 12th Doctor eyes glowing with clinical certainty. "I want us to take a 200x leverage position on Military-Industrial Infrastructure. Buy into heavy industries, Rothana Heavy Engineering, Kuat's deep-space construction sub-sectors, and the companies that produce Bacta, high-output Firearms, and MRE/Quick Rations. Specifically, the ones with Republic contracts."

> The Military-Industrial Leverage Equation (\Pi_{L}):

> By his internal audit, Revan knew that in ten years, the Clone Wars would begin. The Republic would transition from a 1% 'Peace' budget to a 100% 'Total War' footing. By taking a 200x leveraged long position now, he was effectively ensuring that the Maverick Trust would own the very infrastructure of the war, allowing him to redirect those resources to protect the 96% when the fighting reached its apex.

>

"200x leverage is... it's a small country's GDP," Kaelen stammered. "If the peace holds, we lose everything."

"The peace won't hold, Kaelen," Revan said, his voice dropping into a weary, sharp rasp. "I've seen the other side of the ledger. Trust the Maverick. Just keep the accounts anonymous through the Safe House Project shell companies."

III. The Delegate and the Star-Sass

Between his studies and financial maneuvering, Revan often met with a seventeen-year-old Mon Mothma. She was already a formidable presence in Chandrilan politics, her eyes always seeking the rhythmic truth behind the Senate's masks.

They sat on a stone bench in the Academy's gardens, overlooking the shimmering blue of the Chandrilan sea.

"The Senate is... celebrating Chancellor Palpatine's 'Harmonization' of the Trade Federation remnants," Mon noted, her voice a refined chime of skepticism. "But the politics feel heavy, John. It's like the more 'Nice' the Chancellor becomes, the less 'Kind' the laws are for the Outer Rim. It's a rhythmic stutter I can't quite explain."

Revan looked at her, sensing the weight of the future Rebellion on her young shoulders. "According to my audit, Mon, the topic is too heavy for a Tuesday afternoon. You're trying to balance a ledger that isn't even fully written yet."

He stood up and pulled his gauntlet's ship-remote. "Adventure is the journey. Let's go for a ride."

He led her to a secluded landing pad where the Star-Sass sat shrouded in its holographic cloak. He deactivated the shroud, the black-and-red Beskar-alloy hull gleaming under the sun.

"Is this yours?" she asked, eyes wide.

"According to my heart, it's just a very fast way to clear the head," Revan sassed.

They took to the skies. Revan didn't push the X-Wing to its 2700 KPH limit—she wasn't a Force-sensitive, and he didn't want to audit her lunch. Instead, he kept it at a 'smooth' Mach 1.5, weaving through the high-altitude cloud-canals of Chandrila.

"Look at the horizon, Mon," Revan said over the comms, banking the ship in a rhythmic arc. "The galaxy is 96% stars and silence. The 1% in the Senate? They're just noise. Don't let the noise define your rhythm. Be the silence that the noise is afraid of."

For thirty minutes, the future leader of the Alliance wasn't a politician; she was just a girl screaming with delight as they performed zero-G snap-rolls over the silver grass.

IV. Maintenance and the Planetary Troll

When the academic weight became too thick, Revan retreated to his favorite stress-relief: Engineering.

He spent weeks performing a "Deep-Core Audit" on the Black Pearl and the Star-Sass. He, Eleven (R2-B11), and R2-D6 were elbow-deep in the sublight engines, tuning the manifolds for a 4% increase in rhythmic thrust.

"Statement: Master, I find the lack of casualties in this 'Academy' to be a localized failure of entertainment," HK-47 whirred as he polished his high-output blaster rifle. "However, I have discovered a rhythmic satisfaction in 'Auditing' the planetary security patrols."

"What did you do, HK?" Revan asked, wiping grease from his cheek with a sassy grin.

"Observation: I have utilized the Black Pearl's Automatic Stealth Generator to 'Ghost' the local Chandrila Defense Force. I spent three hours appearing and disappearing on their scanners in a rhythmic pattern that spells out 'Meatbag' in binary. Their logic-cores are currently experiencing a 98% increase in 'Frustration'."

"Binary Insult: They were too slow to catch a garbage scow," Chopper (C1-10P) blurted, sparking his electric prod in excitement.

"Try to be nice, you two!" Revan laughed. "But keep the stealth array calibrated. We leave for Coruscant at the end of the year."

The Sovereign's Nap: End of 31 BBY

The year concluded with Revan slumped in his Sovereign's Command Chair on the villa's balcony. Calculus was asleep on his lap, acting as a rhythmic weighted blanket, and Theorem was curled around his feet.

The "Thirteenth Degree" was 100% complete. The 10-Year Long was locked in. Galen Erso had a new set of equations that would change his life, and Mon Mothma had a memory of flying that would keep her anchored in the dark years ahead.

"Status, Cortana," Revan whispered into the fragrant, salty air.

"The Maverick Trust long-positions are holding steady. The Infinite Holocron is secure," Cortana reported. "Chancellor Palpatine has begun his first internal audit of the Jedi Order's administrative funding. He is 51 years old. The shadow is measuring its own reach."

"Let him measure," Revan yawned, the chair reclining to the Calculated Nap Angle. "Adventure is the journey, D6. And 31 BBY was a masterpiece of silver grass, high-leverage growth, and teaching a delegate how to roll. Try to be nice, 30 BBY. I have a Padawan-to-be to check on and a mystery on Kamino to investigate."

He closed his eyes. The Maverick was 122, the books were balanced in secret, and the Auditor was dreaming of a galaxy where the light finally had a bank account that couldn't be broken.
