Chapter 57 - Chapter 56: The god of the dead, Supay, the abducted.

The Incas, children of the gods, the first being Manco Cápac, who was entrusted with building the Inca capital to worship the gods and pass down teachings to mortals. From that culture there were also evil beings, and today one of them sets foot on alien soil.

Returning to the story, our friends stand before SUPAY, the god of the Inca dead, who glaringly fixates on them with uncontrollable rage in his eyes as they feel the chilling pressure in the air.

SUPAY: (in his mind) This is not my reality. Where am I?... Um, and these beings... Damn you, Mictlantekuti! Why bring me to this place?

Supay, a deeply powerful entity, arrived at this realm thanks to Mictlantekuti, but let us see how he got here in the first place.

We step away from the primary timeline for a moment to witness a few memories of this character. We journey to another dimension in the past, ruled by the Inca gods, arriving at a breathtaking place where flora and fauna thrive in abundance. Atop a gold throne resting on a pyramid sits a deity well-known to nearly all: VIRACOCHA. Beside him on his right, another deity keeps him company.

HANAN PACHA (THE HIGH OR CELESTIAL WORLD)

This place is breathtaking: meadows brimming with lush vegetation everywhere the eye can see, distant forests teeming with life, cascading waterfalls keeping the lands cool, and an immense light illuminating the entire realm. Amidst all of this, one deity stands out above the rest: VIRACOCHA, a well-built god wearing garments worthy of an Inca deity, featuring long hair, a golden staff, and a striking cape. He was seated, meditating over all of creation alongside his friend INTI, an imposing, heavily muscled god. Flames emanated from Inti's eyes, and he wore attire fitting an Inca god complete with a cape of pure gold and flowing hair.

VIRACOCHA: Um, Inti, what do you think of creation? You are part of it, which is why I want your opinion; after all, you are like a son to me.

INTI: It is good, my lord. I have already dispatched a being to carry on your legacy. Manco Cápac and his partner will construct the cradle of the Inca civilization to worship us and impart knowledge to those who need it.

VIRACOCHA: Sounds good to me… and Inti, call me father from now on.

INTI: (surprised) Yes… father.

A pleasant conversation takes place between these two deities when suddenly "ILLAPA" appears—the god of thunder and tempests. A burly god with flashy attire, he wore clothing only from the waist down, favoring showing off his physique, paired with a flowing cape. Lightning crackled from his eyes.

ILLAPA: My lord, there is a problem in the "Kay Pacha" (mortal world).

VIRACOCHA: Illapa, from now on you and the other gods shall call me father; I feel more comfortable with it, since I created you. Now tell me, what troubles you?

ILLAPA: (ashamed) Yes, father. You see, down below Supay is up to his usual antics; he is harassing a woman simply because she rejected him.

VIRACOCHA: Um, that fiendish being... despite existing here before I did, that gives him no right to mistreat my creation. My son, go and bring him before me.

ILLAPA: Yes, father, as you command.

Swiftly, ILLAPA takes flight and dives into a lagoon that transports him to the mortal world under the cover of night. He heads toward a village where we see SUPAY tormenting a woman in her dreams. This SUPAY possessed a different appearance—a more handsome one, far from the form we first saw. Here he resembled a normal human, dressed in dark and white garments adorned with gold trim and a traditional Inca crown, his physique remarkably imposing and muscular. Intervening, ILLAPA snatches SUPAY by his cape, dragging him away from the village and relieving the woman's suffering, bringing him into the mountains to confront him.

Now we see ILLAPA forcefully hurling SUPAY onto the peak of a mountain, shattering it and forming a volcano. SUPAY emerges angrily from the crater, levitating in midair as his skin turns magenta and his face slightly contorts; he then speaks to himself, attempting to calm his rage.

SUPAY: Calm down, breathe, you are not an uncivilized being.

A voice interrupts his words—it was ILLAPA, flying directly before him.

ILLAPA: Are you not? You're a bastard! How dare you torment that woman simply because she rejected you? Father wants me to bring you in because he wishes to speak with you.

SUPAY, bearing a smile warped by the rage burning within him, answers back.

SUPAY: Now you call that busybody father? If he hadn't shown up, I would still be happy in my world of chaos.

ILLAPA: Come on, Supay, without him you would have nothing but darkness. Now he has created an immense solar system that continues to expand, so please, follow me without throwing a tantrum. You know full well that a fight between us would destroy this massive rock we live on.

Supay, grimacing in anger, slowly manages to compose himself and revert to his normal form.

SUPAY: (sighs) Fine, I'll go with you.

Suddenly, a mysterious voice echoes.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE: Are you truly going to bow down before them?

Both gods, ILLAPA and SUPAY, turn to see who it is, revealing Mictlantekuti levitating above them.

ILLAPA: Who on earth are you? You are no creation of father.

SUPAY: (in his mind) This entity is just like me… what could his purpose be?

MICTLANTEKUTI: Hello, inferior beings. I would like to speak with your father, as you call him.

SUPAY: He is not my father; my father is chaos.

MICTLANTEKUTI: I know, mine is too.

Both beings stand stunned by that declaration.

ILLAPA: What the hell do you want here?

A bolt of lightning strikes down from the sky into ILLAPA's hand, manifesting an Inca star mace made of pure gold.

MICTLANTEKUTI: Relax, I don't want to fight. I merely wish to talk, if it's not too much trouble.

ILLAPA: Beast, you are not welcome in this world; return to where you came from.

MICTLANTEKUTI: (turning to Supay) Is he always like this, or is it just with me?

SUPAY: Hahaha, I don't think he likes you very much.

MICTLANTEKUTI: Um, we can fix that.

MICTLANTEKUTI crosses his arms and tells the god ILLAPA to attack, while SUPAY smiles and steps aside. We witness a clash so fierce between these two that every time ILLAPA throws a blow and misses, a portion of the surrounding territory is vaporized by the sheer shockwave of air rushing from ILLAPA's mace.

Swiftly, MICTLANTEKUTI manages to position himself behind ILLAPA, and with a rapid movement of his hand formed into a spear, he pierces the god's left shoulder. He follows up with blows so devastating that they generate shockwaves shaking the heavens, terrifying the nearby villagers. SUPAY grabs MICTLANTEKUTI's arm, halting his assault, as ILLAPA plunges to the earth, slamming into the ground hard enough to form an immense crater.

MICTLANTEKUTI: What are you doing? Let go of me.

MICTLANTEKUTI shakes off SUPAY's grip.

SUPAY: If you kill him, you won't be able to see the god Viracocha; he knows how to reach him, not me.

MICTLANTEKUTI: Um… fine, let's go to him.

MICTLANTEKUTI quickly swoops down to retrieve ILLAPA's body, and in a swift interrogation, forces him to reveal the pathway. Both gods reach the lagoon, and MICTLANTEKUTI, holding ILLAPA in his grip, enters the water followed closely by SUPAY. Meanwhile, VIRACOCHA continues conversing with INTI.

VIRACOCHA: It's strange, Inti, I felt massive quakes coming from the Kay Pacha. Is it just me, or did you feel something too?

INTI: Yes, of course I did. (Grows serious) What's more, something is coming for us.

In a split second, ILLAPA's body is tossed to the feet of VIRACOCHA, who stands up from his throne in anger, glaring up at the sky where MICTLANTEKUTI and SUPAY hover. Glancing down, they quickly land and stand right before VIRACOCHA.

VIRACOCHA: Supay, who is this evil entity?

SUPAY: You see, he introduced himself to me just a moment ago, so I don't know his name, and…

MICTLANTEKUTI: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is MICTLANTEKUTI, and I am the god of death.

VIRACOCHA: That is impossible; I was going to bestow that role upon Supay.

SUPAY: What? Why me?

MICTLANTEKUTI: I am the god of death, but not of this world, my lord. You see, I belong to another dimension ruled by other gods, but currently I am not among my equals. I am alone, developing a plan that you will find quite appealing. Allow me to explain things exactly as they are.

Everyone stands taken aback by the god's words; INTI carries ILLAPA away to rest and quickly returns to VIRACOCHA's side.

VIRACOCHA: Fine, you will have your chance. Tell me, what do you want?

MICTLANTEKUHTLI: Very well, I will tell you this: you were created by simple mortals from another dimension; you are nothing more than a work of fiction.

VIRACOCHA is overwhelmed by this revelation.

INTI: Father, do not believe him! These are lies and blasphemies!

SUPAY: What would he gain by lying to us? Remember that he comes from another dimension.

INTI: Yes, but…

VIRACOCHA: (sweating) Let him finish.

INTI: But, father!

VIRACOCHA glares at INTI in annoyance, who shuts his mouth, allowing MICTLANTEKUTI to continue his story.

MICTLANTEKUTI: However, there is a way to escape this reality, and that is to ascend.

Everyone stands even more shocked and intrigued.

MICTLANTEKUTI: You see, there is a supreme entity who created everything that ever was and will be, and he resides in a higher plane. There is only one way to reach him… through countless sacrifices.

VIRACOCHA is stunned as he analyzes the entire situation.

VIRACOCHA: You are telling me that we must take countless lives in order to ascend?

MICTLANTEKUTI: Not just lives—we must consume their souls as well. That way we will gain enough power to challenge them. I currently possess a realm and can move between dimensions thanks to the artifact residing there. What do you say? Will you join this endeavor? What's more, this Supay fellow would be an excellent asset to help us, hehe (with a sinister grin).

VIRACOCHA grows serious for a moment and looks at INTI, who stands shocked and shakes his head in disapproval. VIRACOCHA turns back to face MICTLANTEKUTI.

VIRACOCHA: I will tell you something, Lord Mictlantekuti: I understand creation better than you or Supay, and I am not bothered by being the creation of another being. I am not as ambitious as you (as he speaks, the earth trembles), and I will tell you one more thing: I would rather die before joining you, and I will not allow you to take Supay.

MICTLANTEKUTI makes a grimace of dissatisfaction and steps back, while INTI launches himself at SUPAY and VIRACOCHA grabs MICTLANTEKUTI, dragging him into the skies, bursting through the firmament and entering open space. The two travel at breakneck speed through space, and VIRACOCHA slams him straight into the planet Mercury, obliterating it! We see him continue to drag Mictlantekuti through the cosmic void, thrashing him against every space rock in his path, while MICTLANTEKUTI struggles desperately to break free from VIRACOCHA's grip.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, INTI is locked in combat against SUPAY. We see INTI hurling fireballs that tear through part of paradise, though SUPAY dodges them effortlessly. Seeing this, INTI lunges at the speed of sound toward SUPAY, catching him completely off guard.

Without hesitation, INTI delivers a blow so massive that it sends SUPAY flying off the planet, crashing in a matter of seconds onto the surface of the sun! SUPAY, being an immensely powerful entity, withstands the heat of the sun without issue; INTI instantly arrives by teleporting to him, as lightspeed was simply too slow to reach him. SUPAY, shocked, clutches his head in agony from that strike, realizing that in just 30 seconds he was hurled all the way to the sun, thinking to himself:

SUPAY: (in his mind) Damn god, he is overwhelmingly powerful… that hit sent me flying faster than the speed of light. My jaw aches; for a split second I passed out and woke up here. I have no choice left but to unleash my full power.

SUPAY begins to warp and shift his form, causing INTI to recoil slightly in alarm. Now we witness SUPAY taking on that very same demonic form we saw at the beginning when he first emerged, as a fierce clash erupts on the surface of the sun.

Now we shift to VIRACOCHA and MICTLANTEKUHTLI, who are currently on Jupiter. MICTLANTEKUTI manages to break free from VIRACOCHA's grip and kicks him, sending him crashing down onto the surface of the planet. Upon impact, a fourth of the planet cracks, leaving a massive crater. VIRACOCHA swiftly emerges from the pit, makes his cape and staff vanish, and calls for MICTLANTEKUTI to come down and fight. Now both standing on the planet's surface, they glare intensely at each other.

VIRACOCHA: I will not let you have your way; by taking SUPAY, you would be ruining the balance of this dimension, or am I mistaken?

MICTLANTEKUTI: You are smart; there is a reason you are the creator of this realm. I wanted to take you as well, but I see you won't be willing.

VIRACOCHA: Demon, you are not welcome in this place, so you had better leave or I will cast you out myself.

VIRACOCHA manifests a golden mask over his face and moves to fight MICTLANTEKUTI, who nervously draws a very shadowy macuahuitl. Upon seeing this, VIRACOCHA summons an Inca halberd, and they clash.

With every blow they exchange, shockwaves ripple out that gradually shatter the planet beneath them, tearing it apart without mercy; debris flies off in all directions, destroying creation, though planet Earth was protected by a sort of barrier shielding it from the rubble thanks to VIRACOCHA. We see the battle rage on, with neither side willing to yield.

In a swift maneuver, VIRACOCHA manages to land a thrusting blow on MICTLANTEKUTI, but his hide was so tough that it merely sends him flying toward Mars. Before crashing into the planet, he is intercepted by the creator god, who strikes him with his weapon in midair, making his descent even more devastating—piercing right through Mars and plummeting toward Earth. VIRACOCHA realizes this and teleports instantly, catching MICTLANTEKUTI with a heavy punch before he can strike Earth, halting his fall and causing him to crash brutally into the "Hanan Pacha."

MICTLANTEKUHTLI, seeing he was bested, stands up and heals his wounds. Suddenly, INTI and SUPAY crash down from the sky; in their duel, the victor was SUPAY, who transformed into that monstrous form is far more powerful. VIRACOCHA, seeing his son lying on the ground severely injured, leaps and strikes SUPAY so hard that the celestial world echoes. This strike sends SUPAY flying, hurling him directly into the arms of MICTLANTEKUTI, who catches him unconscious. Seizing the moment, MICTLANTEKUTI seals SUPAY's entire weakened body into a marble-like orb. Wearing a malevolent grin, he draws a futuristic multicolored card from his belt and slashes the air, opening a portal behind him. Realizing he could not win, he takes his consolation prize and leaps into the portal; as he departs, he speaks his final words to VIRACOCHA.

MICTLANTEKUTI: (sinister grin) Enjoy your world while you still can, hehe.

VIRACOCHA swiftly reaches out to grab MICTLANTEKUTI, but it is too late; the god of the dead managed to escape. VIRACOCHA cries out in sheer despair, as his world is now left in doubt as to how it will survive without a god of death.

Now we return to the present, right when SUPAY emerged from the bat god's body. SUPAY recalls those past events with fury, clueless as to why he is in this world, when suddenly a voice reaches his mind—it is MICTLANTEKUTI.

MICTLANTEKUTI: Supay, those before you are your enemies; defeat them and I will give you the answers you seek. It is up to you.

SUPAY recognizes the voice, growing even angrier at being used in such a manner, and lets out a colossal roar that shakes every entity in that small realm—including our friends, except for DANTE, who with a cold stare awaits the entity's next move.

Now, what awaits our friends? Will SUPAY defeat everyone? Will DANTE unveil another power? Very soon we will find out.
