Chapter 33 - Him.

Guard: "State your name!"

The man takes another step in.

Guard Captain: "Did you not hear him! State your name! This is an affair civilians should not be intertwined with. Let us escort you to the exit and pretend you never saw this."

He looks up, locking eyes with the guard ahead of him.

The guard shutters slightly.

???: "Kneel."

His voice is deep, raspy. Clearly he doesn't talk much. Yet that one word carries so much weight.

Guard: "I am a member of the Inner circle of Guards protection and Assisting Sir Arctheal!"

???: "I said kneel."

The guard shakes even more.

???: "Kneel or I will make you kneel with force."

Guard: "You pose no threat to be a civilian! Leave at once. I can escort you to the exit."

The man moved. I couldn't see it. But he appeared a few meters ahead so quickly nobody could see it.

His sword went from fully sheathed, not even being held. To be fully drawn, extending straight out from his right arm.

It made no noise.

It held no blood.

He spun it and slowly began sheathing it.

Guard: "What did you do!-"

???: "I said kneel."

A shallow click rang out as his sword fully sheathed it.

Blood.

Everywhere.

Both of the guard's legs had been fully severed right above the knee.

He screamed. A blood curdling, gut wrenching scream

He dropped to the ground. The open wounds of his leg pressed firmly into the stone

Aric reeled back in shock.

As did most of the guards.

No thread? He did not from pure physical ability?

I turn to Rhovan for answers, but he seems equally shocked. If not moreso.

All of the guards were frozen in place. Even the captain. Hand halfway raised.

Rhovan: "That… that wasn't a thread."

Kareth: "Then what the fuck was it?"

He doesn't answer

???: "Quit crying."

The man on the floor rolls around in pain, clutching the open wound on each leg.

His head explodes.

He drew his blade, struck him through the head and sheathed his blade. So quickly nobody could see it. That's the only way that could've happened.

He's still remorseless. Emotionless.

One of the guards manages to force words from his trembling lips.

Guard: "S-Stand b–"

???: "Don't."

The captain grit his teeth. Forcing strength back to his voice.

Guard Captain: "Enough! He killed one of us. Take him down!"

A unanimous war cry erupts. Before being quelled near instantly after it began.

The man appeared behind all of the guards. Only a few steps in front of us.

Blood erupts. Spraying up from every guard. Every single guard killed at once.

Some cut in half. Some were decapitated. Some left with an uncountable amount of slashes.

Not even the captain remained standing. All of the guards are dead.

The man walks to the table. Casually.

Not a sound below any step.

???: "Not the information I needed."

He looked up. His gaze now upon us.

???: "You four. Do you know anything besides what's on this table?"

I shake my head, so does Aric

Thyra: "We… we don't know anything."

Rhovan: "We came here looking for information on the rigger and what he's doing in Esmourne."

He studies Rhovan for a moment.

???: "Useless."

He turns back to the table. Studying it further.

Aric's grip tightens around his blade.

???: "If you know nothing. All of you know nothing."

His hand drifts to his blade.

Not gripping it, just letting his fingers rest on the hilt.

???: "And letting you go might mean you'd tell people of me."

His gaze shifts back up to us slowly.

???: "Then you have no reason to still stand."

He sounds even more menacing than before.

Aric: "K-Kareth…"

Aric's voice cracks

My entire body feels like it's on fire. Every muscle, every thought is about running away.

Thyra plants her feet and properly readies her sword.

Rhovan steps forward slightly.

Rhovan: "Thread. Resonance."

???: "A thread?"

He takes a step forward.

His eyes narrow on us.

His fingers tighten around the hilt.

*Click*

Slowly. Painfully. Agonisingly. Draws his weapon.

He's gonna kill us..
