Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Breaking Records, Becoming Famous in a Single Game

"Oh ho ho~"

"Unbelievable!"

At the instant Blake Su hit the buzzer-beater, Van Gundy shook his head, laughing in sheer disbelief. "A fadeaway game-winner! Blake Su—a center—actually hit a fadeaway over tight defense!

This is just unbelievable!"

Mike Breen was equally shaken. "In the final half-quarter, the Suns' rookie center went a perfect 11-for-11 from the field, putting up 23 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.

Then, with 4.4 seconds left, he hit the game-winner and led the Suns to an epic comeback!

Incredible—Blake Su is simply incredible!"

At the broadcast table, Van Gundy and Mike Breen were full of praise for Blake Su.

"Boom!"

Inside the arena, cheers, roars, and exclamations merged into a deafening wave.

Blake Su's NBA debut felt like a super bomb detonating in the deep sea, sending colossal waves crashing upward, as if they might rip the roof off the US Airways Center.

"We won!"

"A game-winner! Blake Su's game-winner—we turned it around!"

"Yeah!"

The Suns' bench erupted in dancing and celebration.

Steve Nash, Hill, Carter, Goran Dragić, and the others rushed over, their faces lit with excitement, crowding around Blake Su and soaking in the joy of the comeback together.

Indeed.

A 22-point comeback in just half a quarter—an outright reversal. That feeling of having one foot in hell and the next in heaven was exhilarating beyond words.

And Blake Su, the man who completed this epic comeback, was undoubtedly the brightest star of the night.

The Suns' players and fans were euphoric, while the Wizards' players looked utterly deflated—heads drooping, faces ashen, unable to believe what had just happened.

"How did we let this get overturned?"

Wall muttered despondently.

On the Wizards' bench, Yi Jianlian felt a mix of emotions.

The sadness came from the loss—blowing a 22-point lead and suffering a crushing comeback.

The joy came from seeing Blake Su deliver such an incredible performance, a display of talent that left a deep impression on him.

Post-game.

ESPN's famed reporter "Woj" found Blake Su and asked with a smile, "Hello, Mr. Blake Su. Your performance tonight was outstanding—you're the MVP of the game.

But…

with talent like yours, why didn't you enter the draft?"

"Uh…"

Blake Su thought for a moment, then brushed it off. "I missed my flight."

"Oh?"

Woj froze for a beat, then laughed. "Well, it's a good thing you still made it to the NBA. Otherwise, we would've missed a performance like tonight's—and that would've been a real shame."

While Blake Su was being interviewed,

Van Gundy wasn't idle at the commentary desk either. Looking at the stats he had compiled, he declared in a booming voice, "Rookie Blake Su has set multiple records in his career debut.

First, as a rookie, he led his team to erase a 22-point deficit in just half a quarter and complete an epic comeback—something never seen before.

Second, in half a quarter of playing time, he went 11-for-11 from the field and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line, scoring 23 points on 100% shooting—another first in history.

Third, he hit a game-winner in his NBA debut. Looking across the entire history of the NBA, he's the only one to ever do that."

"Damn!"

Mike Breen couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement. "I thought the No. 1 pick Wall, who dropped 35 points and hit a near game-winner tonight, was already impressive enough.

But in the end,

the one who led a 22-point comeback and sealed it with a buzzer-beater—Blake Su—is the one laughing last."

"Exactly,"

Van Gundy nodded with a smile. "The No. 1 pick Wall, Blake Su bursting onto the scene, and Griffin, who missed last season due to injury…

This rookie class is full of storylines."

The commentators continued enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, Blake Su's interview wrapped up. Wall, who had been waiting nearby, walked over and said, "Hey, I'll admit—you were pretty accurate tonight.

But next time we face each other, I'll crush you. I'll show you that I'm the real rookie ceiling."

Blake Su smiled faintly. "Sure. But… next time we meet, I'll still be the one who wins."

"Dream on!"

Wall scoffed, throwing out one last taunt before storming off.

Blake Su shook his head lightly. He didn't know Wall very well, but to become the future core of the Wizards and an All-Star–level player, Wall needed exactly that unyielding pride and refusal to back down.

As soon as Wall left, Yi Jianlian came over with a relaxed smile. "Hey, Blake, great game."

Seeing Yi Jianlian, Blake Su felt his mood lift. "Thanks, Yi. I've watched you play for years—means a lot coming from you."

Yi laughed and waved him off. "Come on, after tonight, I should be saying that to you. Seriously though, with skills like yours, how come I never saw you in the CBA?"

Blake Su thought for a moment and replied, "I wanted to challenge myself at the highest level, so I decided to take a shot in the NBA right away."

"Respect."

Yi Jianlian gave his shoulder a firm pat, his expression sincere. "Keep playing like this. You've got a huge future ahead of you."

"Mhm."

Blake Su nodded lightly and said seriously, "I'll keep working hard and become the best player I can be."

In his previous life, he lacked the ability.

In this one, with a golden advantage in hand, he would keep climbing higher and higher—until the world knew that he could shine with the brightest light in the NBA.

...

The Wizards vs. Suns game had originally been a low-profile matchup between two struggling teams, with little to draw attention. But Blake Su's sudden, godlike performance sent shockwaves through the league.

That night,

keywords like [Blake Su Game-Winner vs. Wizards], [Blake Su Scores 23 Points], and [Center Blake Su Breaks Multiple Records in His Debut] surged onto Twitter's trending list—ranking remarkably high.

The discussions below were just as heated.

"Rookie center Blake Su led the Suns to overturn a 22-point deficit in just half a quarter and sealed it with a game-winner against the Wizards. He's unbelievably strong—so strong it defies belief!"

"Not only did he erase a 22-point gap, Blake Su went 11-for-11 from the field for 100% shooting, scoring 23 of the Suns' final 26 points and assisting Nash on a three.

In other words,

Blake Su single-handedly powered the Suns' comeback. And don't forget—he's just a rookie. That kind of dominance is absolutely terrifying!"
