Chapter 18 - A Small Confession

The rain continued to hammer the courtyard, turning the marble floors into rivers of silver. Lightning split the sky, illuminating Lunar's soaked white hair and pale, glowing skin. The fountain behind her shimmered with small whirlpools of her magic, a faint silver light hovering above the water.

Roy stood a few steps away, arms crossed, cloak flaring with the wind. His expression was as cold as ice, sharp and unyielding. But the way he studied her, analyzing every detail, made Lunar's heart race.

Roy (coldly):"Why does the rain… obey you? What are you?"

Lunar pressed her hands together, trying to hide the faint shimmer of magic. Her voice was soft but steady, laced with caution.

Lunar:"I… I know a little magic."

Roy's icy gaze sharpened. Not a flicker of warmth crossed his face, yet his curiosity was obvious.

Roy (cold, clipped):"A little? That doesn't look like 'a little' to me."

Lunar glanced at the fountain, where the water continued to ripple unnaturally, tiny whirlpools still spinning. She bit her lip, trying not to show fear or frustration.

Lunar (softly, almost whispering):"I… I'm still learning. I don't control it fully… yet."

Roy's eyes narrowed, studying her every motion. His cold expression didn't change, but a flicker of intrigue appeared in his icy gaze.

Roy (cold, voice low):"Learning, huh? That's… convenient."

Lunar's heart skipped. She hadn't expected him to comment like that. She pressed her hands against her chest, trying to calm herself, trying to hide the surge of water magic threatening to escape.

Lunar (thinking, frustrated):"I can't let him know the truth… not yet… not now."

The storm raged on outside, echoing her inner turmoil. Lightning cracked across the sky, and the heavy rain soaked them both, but inside the courtyard, a new tension had formed: one of mystery, caution, and the beginnings of something neither of them expected.
