Chapter 14 - Body Tempering and Movement Techniques

Wang Li circulated his soul power throughout his body, fixed his gaze on a large tree, closed his eyes, steeled his heart, and charged straight at it.

Bang!

After a dull thud, Wang Li was thrown backward several steps by the rebound. He shook his arms and bared his teeth in pain. Just now, he had crossed his arms in front of his chest as he rammed into the tree, and now his arms were already bruised.

However, once his soul power circulated, the burning pain quickly eased.

Wang Li did not stop to wait for his arms to fully recover. Instead, he slammed into the tree again with his shoulder.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

He rammed into the tree again and again, counting each impact in his heart. Relying on his body's slow recovery, he treated his body as if it were not his own at all.

By the end, there was not a single uninjured spot on his body. It was either bruised or scraped raw, bloodied and miserable to look at.

"Huff… huff… huff…"

Lying on a slope covered in blue silver grass, Wang Li panted heavily. Perhaps because of the tree collisions earlier, not only did his body surface ache intensely, but even his lungs felt as if they were burning.

Although smashing into a tree looked simple, it mobilized his entire body. From the way he exerted force to the integration of soul power and flesh, everything was being constantly adjusted and adapted by his body through repeated磨合.

Under the soothing effect of soul power, the damaged parts of his body were rapidly regenerating. Muscle tissue became active and began to heal, growing thicker and stronger. Subcutaneous fat was like a block of raw iron, continuously burning and being hammered, with impurities gradually expelled. Scabs of all sizes formed on his skin, beneath which new flesh sprouted, bonded, and healed…

All of this was happening continuously. Of course, Wang Li was not yet able to fully perceive every change occurring in his body. All he could see was that his injuries were recovering.

"Soul skills aren't something you can just create on a whim. If I want to create my own soul skill, it's best to start from my own strengths. Let's see if, relying on vitality and toughness, I can train something similar to Golden Bell Cover or Iron Shirt."

Lying on the blue silver grass slope, Wang Li said with a frown:

"Being able to take hits is one thing, but I can't just keep taking hits forever. I also need to find a way to improve my speed and agility. Even if I can't surpass agility-type soul masters, I can't let them catch me so easily."

"Later, I'll channel soul power into my legs and see if I can control it to erupt outward, using it to boost my speed. I'll take it step by step. As long as I don't blow my legs apart, I can recover and try again multiple times."

"I have the trait of vitality, so I need to make full use of it. It can't just be used to recover my injuries. Is it that my soul power has healing properties, or is it that my soul power can stimulate the body's self-healing…"

Wang Li still had doubts in his heart, but his eyes were exceptionally bright. If he wanted to improve his strength, he needed to thoroughly understand himself, truly control himself, and completely unleash his own potential.

The panel was dead, but he was alive. Just as he had obtained a meditation method for free from the panel, he could also try to develop more things on his own.

Before he realized it, he had already been lying there until near dusk. Feeling that his injuries had mostly recovered, Wang Li got up, picked up his school uniform, put it on as he walked, and headed down the mountain.

At present, Wang Li looked rather battered, but in reality it was only superficial. Internally, there were basically no serious problems. No broken bones, no injured organs,so there was nothing to worry about.

What he did not notice, however, was that at the spot where he had just been lying, the blue silver grass he had crushed, after absorbing the blood he had shed, had taken on a different kind of vitality and was swaying as it grew upward.

As for Wang Li, after returning to Notting Academy, he first went to the cafeteria and ate a hearty meal, then returned to the dormitory.

Tang San had gone to work at the forge and had not yet returned. Xiao Wu had gone shopping and also had not come back. Most of the others were present.

When Wang Li greeted everyone after returning, Wang Sheng suddenly asked with a serious expression:

"Wang Li, were you bullied?"

Wang Li waved his hand and said:

"Don't worry. No one bullied me. I just went to train in the back mountain. My martial soul can't directly increase my combat ability, but I can train to improve it."

Wang Sheng understood and then said with a mischievous grin:

"That's true. How strong can blue silver grass really become after absorbing a soul ring? It's not like my Battle Tiger martial soul. As soon as it absorbs a soul ring, I'll become a powerful soul master, and I'll soon break through to level ten."

Wang Li had already broken through to level ten, but had he ever loudly announced it?

No.

Toward Wang Sheng, Wang Li replied in a seemingly sincere but actually perfunctory manner:

"Your martial soul is the Battle Tiger, king among beasts. Mine is just the most common blue silver grass. You can become strong easily, so naturally I have to work twice as hard."

After brushing off the matter of training in the back mountain, Wang Li fetched some clean water and gave himself a simple wash, rinsing off the dust and mud on his body.

He did not tear off the scabs, planning to wait for them to fall off naturally. It had only been an afternoon; at least one more night was needed for the wounds underneath to fully heal.

Back on his bed, Wang Li did not cultivate. Instead, he went to sleep early. He needed to restore his energy so he could continue training tomorrow.

The next day!

Another fairly peaceful day. After spending a fulfilling yet dull morning in class, Wang Li headed to the back mountain again in the afternoon, finding that familiar slope covered in blue silver grass.

He took off his school uniform and lightly warmed up his limbs. After crashing into trees all day yesterday, Wang Li planned to try something different today.

He found a wide, open area and began channeling soul power into his legs. Next came the real test of his control over soul power. He circulated the soul power to cling to the soles of his feet, compressing it, compressing it, and compressing it further…

He leaned forward, taking a running stance.

Bang!

Wang Li was launched straight into the air. With a cry of pain, he slammed heavily into the ground and rolled several times.

Grimacing in pain, Wang Li took off his shoes. His calves were red, with who knew how many capillaries ruptured. The flesh of his soles was a bloody mess. The soul power he had compressed had gone out of control and exploded, resulting in this outcome.

Fortunately, his soul power was relatively gentle and also had a healing effect. Now his soles felt cool rather than painful, and self-healing had already begun.

Sighing, Wang Li said:

"Trying to create a movement-type soul skill on my own is probably even harder than smashing into trees to train Golden Bell Cover and Iron Shirt. Luckily, my martial soul talents are vitality and toughness. Now it seems they're actually helping me a lot."

After resting for more than ten minutes, Wang Li stood up again. He did not put his shoes back on, instead standing barefoot on the ground. He channeled soul power into his legs and guided it to adhere to the soles of his feet.

He had not yet learned how to walk properly, let alone fly, so Wang Li no longer insisted on compressing the soul power. Instead, he focused more on controlling it. He took it little by little,he had plenty of chances to make mistakes and try again.
