Chapter 312 - Chapter 310: All Missing

Vain stared at his empty hands, unable to help clicking his tongue and shaking his head in disappointment.

Not caring about the other person's disappearance, he leaned against a nearby lamppost, watching the drizzling rain, and sighed to himself, "I really can't tell if this girl is lucky or unlucky."

"It would be a pity if such an interesting girl were to perish just like that."

Vain pinched his chin, his fingertips gently rubbing along his jawline. His gaze lingered on the spot where Mu Yao had vanished, and he soon made a decision.

"Forget it. If you're lucky enough to survive, considering the time we've spent together, I might consider stepping in to protect you."

After saying this, he casually took out a glass container, which held the black blood from earlier.

Without much hesitation, Vain crushed it. The black blood instantly turned into a mist of blood, dissipating into the rainy night.

At the same time, his figure vanished from the empty street, leaving behind only the sound of the drizzling rain.

The bizarre disappearance of the two did not cause any stir on the bustling street.

After all, the streets were too noisy on New Year's Eve, and no one would notice the sudden disappearance of two strangers beneath the hazy curtain of rain.

About ten minutes later, a lovely figure appeared at the spot where the two had vanished.

She looked around, whispering something to herself, and appeared extremely anxious.

"Strange, it should be right here. Where are they?"

After searching repeatedly to no avail, a bad premonition arose in Mo Xi's heart.

She took out her phone and dialed the number again, but this time, the icy "cannot connect" tone came through the receiver.

"But I was just able to reach her a moment ago..."

Mu Yao's current situation was so similar to her sister's; both had suddenly lost contact and vanished without a trace.

Yet the reason for it remained a mystery.

Was she abducted by that person from before?

Impossible. That person was indeed looking for Mu Yao, but he didn't know her location and could not possibly have arrived before her.

Then, besides him, were there other accomplices?

Furthermore, if his target was the members of the Ability Bureau, Mo Xi could somewhat understand that, but what did this have to do with her sister?

Her heart was full of confusion. In her previous life, her sister had never awakened a Special Ability and had always been an ordinary person. Who would target her?

However, in this life, even she had awakened a Special Ability, so it seemed plausible for her sister to have awakened as well... Mo Xin even had cultivation in the Qi Refining Stage...

'Could it be that there is some secret hidden within Xiao Xin that even I don't know about!'

Minutes passed, and the more she thought, the more confused she became. Not only was the problem unsolved, but many more questions had emerged.

But at this point, she didn't have time to dwell on these things.

The top priority was to find Mu Yao and her sister as soon as possible. No matter how many questions she had, they would have to wait until she found them.

With that thought, she took a deep breath, suppressed the turmoil in her heart, and dialed another number.

"Hello."

"Sister Acheron!"

New Year's Eve was drawing closer, and if it wasn't absolutely necessary, Mo Xi really didn't want to bother Acheron at this time.

After all, the other party had already helped her too many times. Even though they were as close as family, she didn't want to trouble her every single time, nor did she want to stain this precious friendship with other complexities.

"Mo Xi, did something unexpected happen when you contacted me? Did you not meet up with Mo Xin?"

Faced with Sister Acheron's inquiry, Mo Xi could no longer maintain a calm and composed appearance and explained everything she knew exactly as it was.

After she finished speaking, Sister Acheron on the other end of the line fell into deep thought.

Anxious, Mo Xi hurriedly asked if there was any way or any leads.

Not long after, Acheron's cool, calm voice came through again. There was no excessive emotional fluctuation, yet it carried a power that put people at ease.

"I am aware of this matter."

"Sister Acheron, do you have any ideas?"

"I am currently handling this matter. As for Mo Xin, I will do my best to find her as well."

"Really!"

Hearing this, Mo Xi was overjoyed. The matter finally had some leads.

"Sister Acheron, do you know where Mo Xin and the others are?"

"Yes, I am just about to head there."

"I want to go too!"

"..."

"Sister Acheron—I don't want to regret today's decision!"

Mo Xi's hand gripping the phone tightened slightly. Her voice carried an unquestionable firmness, and every word seemed to be squeezed from the bottom of her heart.

Hearing these words, Acheron on the other end of the line looked slightly moved, a flicker of complex emotion flashing in her eyes.

Just as Mo Xi gripped her phone tightly, her heart in her throat, waiting nervously for the other party's reply, Acheron's tone on the other end remained normal, without the slightest ripple, and she simply uttered two words slowly.

"Fine."

She didn't refuse, nor did she offer any unnecessary discouragement, and then she sent the phone location over.

Looking at the pulsing location on her phone screen, a faint smile curled at the corner of her lips, her eyes filled with determination—no matter what awaited her ahead, she had to go.

Before leaving, she also truthfully informed Yunli about the situation, though she naturally omitted the part about Sister Acheron.

Immediately after, she once again mounted the frost spring sword. The blade sliced through the curtain of rain, carrying her figure as she sped toward the location.

...

On the other side. Stelle followed Little Black through many twists and turns, arriving at a secluded, abandoned warehouse.

The warehouse was covered in dust, with cobwebs in the corners, and it looked completely empty.

Stelle frowned, looked around, and asked suspiciously.

"Little Black, are you sure you didn't take the wrong path? It looks like there's nothing here."

"Meow~"

"But there really is nothing here?"

"Meow~"

"Could it be that you're messing with me on purpose because you don't like the name I gave you?"

"Meow~"

"Is that so?"

This dramatic Q&A revealed a sense of absurdity that left one unsure whether to laugh or cry.

Stelle was still frowning and looking around, completely unaware that, from an angle he couldn't see, Little Black's face was showing an extremely human-like look of disdain.

It didn't even know what it was saying itself.

Yet this cheap pooper-scooper, whether he could actually understand what it was saying or if he truly had something wrong with his brain, was actually engaging in a serious conversation with it.

But then again, who made it just a poor, innocent kitty?

Little Black sighed helplessly (if cats could sigh), flicked its Tail, and responded honestly: "Meow~"

"Now that things have come to this, I have no choice but to use my genius brain!"

Little Black (-_- ||): 'What kind of genius would stupidly get themselves stuck in a ventilation duct.'

He didn't pay attention to the cat's speechlessness.

After all, Little Black just needed to meow and that was it, but Stelle had a lot more to consider.

A pair of golden pupils carefully scrutinized the surrounding environment.

He kept Little Black, and his purpose was naturally not simple.

Whether it was some animal instinct for danger, Stelle discovered that Little Black seemed to be able to lead him to find the Blood Array hidden in the city.

But this afternoon, she had run to four or five places in a row, only to find nothing, not even a shadow of the Blood Array.

Thinking of this, Stelle's gaze quietly swept over Little Black's swaying Tail, and he muttered to himself.

Stelle (눈_눈): 'Could it be that my unscrupulous idea of not giving cat food and just making empty promises was discovered, and that's why Little Black is deliberately making things difficult for me?

That's impossible. Little Black shouldn't be that smart!'
