Back in the waiting area, Tang San had completely exhausted himself. He lay sprawled across the sofa, breathing heavily.
Xiao Wu and Tai Long, having been eliminated earlier in the match, were in relatively better condition, but everyone else had expended an enormous amount of energy.
Grandmaster immediately gave instructions.
"Flender, return to the academy and bring Shao Xin here. If the children can't recover their condition quickly, it will definitely affect their upcoming matches."
Shao Xin was a Food System Spirit Sage, and the candy beans he produced would certainly restore them more effectively than Oscar's sausages.
Flender wasted no time and left immediately.
Meanwhile, Grandmaster began reviewing the match with Tang San.
"Tang San, did you notice anything unusual?"
"Master, if there wasn't something suspicious about that match, I'll eat the arena."
It was Dai Mubai who answered first.
At the beginning of the match, the Elephant Armor Team had fought normally, and dealing with them had been manageable.
But then, everything suddenly changed. The entire Elephant Armor Team instantly began acting as one, and as the team's frontline fighter, he had felt the pressure more than anyone.
Tang San nodded heavily and replied weakly,"Teacher, they must have used some kind of Spirit Bone ability to link everyone's movements together, but I couldn't discover how they were doing it."
A Spirit Bone that granted a shared mental ability would be tremendously valuable in team battles.
However, the Spirit Master Tournament was watched by countless people. If a contestant revealed they possessed a Spirit Bone, there was no guarantee they wouldn't become a target afterward.
Huyan Li dared to reveal his skull Spirit Bone for two reasons.
First, he had the Elephant Armor Clan behind him and was Huyan Zhen's grandson, so very few people would dare target him.
Second, his skull Spirit Bone was less than ten thousand years old. Most powerful Spirit Masters would not consider it worthwhile to offend the Elephant Armor Clan over such a Spirit Bone.
"If it was a Spirit Bone, it definitely wasn't the one on Huyan Li's head."
Huyan Li's Spirit Bone took the form of a helmet, making it obvious that it was a defensive Spirit Bone. The Spirit Skill it granted was also defensive in nature.
Grandmaster voiced his conclusion.
"I think Huyan Zhen was secretly manipulating the battle from behind the scenes. Regardless, it was an incredibly effective form of cheating. We need to watch out for tactics like this in the future so we don't fall into similar traps."
Then he smiled warmly and praised Tang San without hesitation.
"Tang San, the way you handled the situation truly surprised me."
"Although the Elephant Armor Team's method of cheating was ingenious, your response was nothing short of textbook."
"I believe that after the tournament ends, many people will study today's battle and discuss it for years to come."
Tang San forced a bitter smile.
If he had any choice, he never wanted to fight another match like today's.
Throughout the battle, he had been directing the team while personally fighting the enemy. Both mentally and physically, he was completely drained.
That afternoon, with the help of Shao Xin's candy beans, the Shrek Seven Devils finally recovered.
The match that concerned them most now was their upcoming battle against the Seven Treasure Team.
That evening, the Shrek members held an intense discussion over whether they should fight the Seven Treasure Team.
Grandmaster wanted to preserve their strength and avoid the Seven Treasure Team while they were at their peak.
Tang San, however, wanted to face them. At the very least, he wanted to gauge the gap between the two teams and prepare for the finals.
"Tang San, our upcoming schedule is very demanding. Right after the match against the Seven Treasure Team, we'll immediately face the Godwind and Blazing Team."
"Fighting two powerful teams in succession will consume too much energy. One mistake could ruin everything."
Now that they had defeated the Elephant Armor Team, they had essentially secured a ticket to advance.
The Godwind and Blazing Team was comparatively weaker. If they exhausted themselves against the Seven Treasure Team and ended up losing the following day's match, the cost would be far too great.
After all, losing four matches only meant there was still a chance of advancing. If the other teams united against them, they could easily lose their qualification.
Therefore, as long as victory was achievable, winning as many matches as possible was always the better choice.
Dai Mubai couldn't help asking,"Tang San, are you really determined to fight this match? Have you forgotten how strong Feng Xiaotian is?"
A Spirit King appearing among teams composed mostly of Spirit Ancestors and Spirit Elders was an overwhelming advantage.
Tang San, however, had his own thoughts.
"Didn't you notice? Feng Xiaotian and Wu Qi have been alternating matches. If Feng Xiaotian doesn't play tomorrow, we may still have a chance against them."
"And don't forget how old Wu Qi is this year. Do you really think he's already reached Spirit King?"
None of the Shrek members believed Wu Qi had broken through to Spirit King.
If Tang San's assumption was correct, then they truly could challenge the Seven Treasure Team.
After carefully considering Tang San's proposal, Grandmaster finally said.
"Tang San, how about this? If Feng Xiaotian doesn't compete tomorrow, I'll allow you to fight this match. Otherwise, we'll surrender immediately, preserve our strength, and face them another day."
Yu Tianheng agreed.
"I think that's reasonable. Last time we lost because we underestimated them."
"Now that we've learned our lesson, and with the tactics Uncle and Tang San have prepared, we'll definitely win our revenge this time."
Xiao Wu clenched her fists and said indignantly, "Isn't everyone saying we can't beat the Seven Treasure Team? Tomorrow, we'll prove them wrong with an outstanding match."
On the evening two days later, at the hotel where the Seven Treasure Team was staying.
Wu Qi had no idea what Shrek Academy was planning. He gathered everyone together to discuss the strategy.
"In the match against the Elephant Armored Team, Xiaotian already had his chance to shine. So for tomorrow's match against the Shrek Team, I'll be the one taking the field."
Feng Xiaotian had no objections.
Wu Qi continued, "Our match is the final one of the day, so it may not start until nightfall. Eat a good lunch tomorrow, but skip dinner so it doesn't affect your performance. Even those who aren't scheduled to fight shouldn't eat, just in case someone has to be substituted at the last minute."
"Tomorrow we'll field three substitutes, along with me, Chen Ping, Changkong, and Huo Wushuang."
Turning to Zhou Yun, he added, "Although I don't like Tang San, his sense of timing when using his Spirit Skills is exceptional. During tomorrow's match, I want you to carefully observe when he releases his Spirit Skills. It'll be a great learning opportunity for you."
Zhou Yun nodded seriously before saying excitedly, "I've also wanted to see the continent's first Blue Silver Grass control-type Spirit Master in action. Don't worry. Even if I can't restrain the enemy, I'll do everything I can to make sure no one gets held back."
After everyone encouraged one another, Changkong asked about the battle plan.
"Brother Wu, Shrek has probably already figured out how we fought last time. If we use the same strategy again, it won't work."
"How about we change it? Whatever you decide, we'll follow."
Wu Qi smiled.
"Does everyone have the confidence to break a record?"
A record?
The only notable record in the qualifiers was advancing with a perfect winning streak. What did that have to do with tomorrow's match?
Feng Xiaotian suddenly understood and said in a deep voice, "The record for the fastest victory!"
"It may not be an official record, but people talk about it all the time. Right now, that record belongs to the Shrek Team from the opening match."
Huo Wushuang looked surprised.
"Captain, are you saying we're going to turn Shrek Academy into our stepping stone and nail them to the pillar of shame?"
It was certainly a ruthless idea.
But Shrek had set the precedent themselves.
Why shouldn't they break that record too?
