Chapter 4 - The Deadline

Morning came quickly.

Min-hee arrived early to avoid attention.

She liked quiet offices.

No eyes watching.

She started organizing files carefully.

Normal work.

Safe work.Near the entrance

Employees greeted the CEO.

"Good morning, Director Kang."

Kang Tae-ho walked past calmly.

His steps steady.

His expression cold.

As he passed her desk —

Something small slipped from her notebook.

A tiny dinosaur sticker.

It fell near the floor.

She didn't notice.

No one did.

Except him.

He stopped for a second.

Then bent slightly and picked it up quietly.

Without a word, he continued walking to his cabin.

Inside the cabin.

He placed the sticker on his desk.

He stared at it.

Small. Colorful. Childish.

It didn't match her serious image.

Yet somehow…

It felt natural.

He didn't understand why he didn't throw it away.

Instead, he kept looking at it while working.

A strange warmth touched his chest.

Inside his cabin.

Tae-ho looked at the sticker again.

For a brief moment —

A very faint memory tried to surface.

Warm light.

Soft silence.

But it disappeared before he could see clearly.

He frowned slightly.

"…What is this feeling?"

Later evening.

"Miss Lee Min-hee. The Director is calling you."

Min-hee's hands froze.

She stood and walked to his cabin.

Knock.

"Come in."

She entered carefully.

Kang Tae-ho handed her a thick file.

"You will organize this project report."

She accepted it.

"Yes, sir."

"It must be completed today."

Her eyes widened slightly.

So much work… today?

She hesitated.

"Sir… I need to leave on time."

His expression didn't change.

"Finish it before leaving."

Her fingers tightened.

"I really have something important—"

"By any cost."

His voice was calm but firm.

Silence filled the room.

She couldn't say anything else.

"…Understood."

Evening

Employees packed their bags and left.

The office slowly became quiet.

Only one desk light remained on.

Min-hee kept typing.

Her eyes moved again and again to the clock.

Her fingers worked faster.

Tae-ho stepped out of his office.

He noticed immediately.

She looked tense.

Her eyes anxious.

And she kept checking the time.

He stood there for a moment watching.

Then walked closer.

"I guess you're worried about something."

She quickly stood.

"No, sir."

But her voice wasn't steady.

She looked at the clock again without realizing.

Silence passed.

"Leave it."he said.

She blinked.

"…Sir?"

"You look very tense."

Her eyes showed relief before she could hide it.

"…Thank you."

She packed quickly and left.

Almost running.

Tae-ho watched her go.

He didn't know why he stopped her.

But he knew —

She wasn't rushing because of laziness.

She was rushing to someone important.

He returned to his cabin.

Opened his drawer.

The dinosaur sticker rested inside.

His gaze softened slightly.

"…Who are you hurrying to, Lee Min-hee?"
