Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Another Day of Lying Flat

That night, after hearing everything that happened in the afternoon, Tina unceremoniously scolded her husband.

"Kate is still a child, how could you let her come into contact with such a dangerous animal like a Nundu?"

"She doesn't even know magic yet! Newt, she is just a frail little girl. Don't compare her to our son!"

"In short, until Kate masters self-protection skills, I forbid you from taking her there again!"

The barrage of three questions from the true head of the household left Newt, the old man, completely bewildered.

He could only apologize repeatedly to his wife and promise not to do it again.

Listening to the vigorous voice in the living room, Kate finished her bath and sat on the bed with a tangled expression, looking at the System screen.

[The Delicious Maiden System continues to serve you.]

[Host: Kate Shafiq]

[Profession: Wizard]

[Charm: 7]

[Strength: 4]

[Agility: 6]

[Spirit: 6]

[Vitality: 6]

[Luck: 10]

[Magic: 50]

[Stacked Ability 1: Gifted Student Talent: Level 7]

[Stacked Ability 2: Magic Resistance: Level 6]

[Stacked Ability 3: Legendary Magic: Level 5]

[Stacked Ability 4: Animal Affinity: Level 4 (Buff Disabled)]

The attribute points obtained after tirelessly shoveling ten buckets of poop were added to Vitality according to the System's suggestion.

There was no helping it; her current constitution was too weak, and the slightest carelessness would trigger a magical riot.

Not to mention she was still in her childhood, and her magic would grow naturally in the future. Even with just the current 50 points of Magic, she needed at least 30 points of Vitality to support it without causing trouble.

In other words, it would be best if all attribute points gained from daily quests in the next month were added to Vitality.

"System, don't you think my attribute values are a bit unbalanced?" she couldn't help but ask.

[Before the Host selected the reward, this System already gave a prompt. The Host bears all consequences.]

Kate's eyelid twitched, and she lay directly back on the bed.

Although some of the quests given had heavy tastes, so far, the rewards and suggestions from this weirdly named System had never pitted her. It seemed she should scold the System less in the future; it was actually quite nice.

[Please do not slander this System's name, Host.]

[This System is very satisfied with the name Delicious Maiden.]

She smiled silently. Her spirit, exhausted from the whole day, was completely released the moment she touched the soft bed. Dazedly closing her eyes, her breathing gradually became steady.

The family meeting in the living room ended, and the old couple walked upstairs lightly and knocked on the door.

Seeing no sound from inside, Newt pushed the door open and saw the little girl already sound asleep on the bed at a glance. The old couple smiled at each other. With a wave of a wand, the quilt at the foot of the bed silently covered the sleeping little figure.

"Goodnight, Little Kate."

Early the next morning.

"Due to some special reasons, we won't be feeding magical creatures for the time being."

Newt stood in his own yard, speaking somewhat awkwardly about the reason everyone knew well.

"But it doesn't matter, we can learn spells first! However, I don't know how many you know, so please try to cast everything you can for me to see now."

Kate, who had just finished breakfast and was in relatively good spirits, wilted immediately upon seeing the Daily Quest displayed by the System.

[Daily Quest 2: Please master at least five spells before the end of today.]

Damn!

Dog System!

Kate, who was thinking about getting along well with the System before sleeping last night, completely forgot her previous thoughts. Now she just wanted to curse.

Generally speaking, young wizards studying at Hogwarts learn a mix of practical and theoretical lessons.

For example, in the original work, the practical lessons Harry Potter learned on his first day were Transfiguration and Charms. Then came History of Magic and Herbology, two theoretically biased courses that didn't require using a wand.

At this pace, a young wizard who can learn five or six spells a week is considered outstanding. Now the System actually wanted her to master five spells in one day? It might as well stop letting her be a human at this point!

Looking exceptionally speechless at her teacher, who was still gazing at her encouragingly, Kate took a deep breath. For the attribute points, she still had to try.

The first was naturally the young wizard's introductory Levitation Charm.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

With a wave of the wrist and a flick, several un-swept fallen leaves in the courtyard floated up into the air.

Not to mention Newt, even the caster Kate herself was a bit stunned. In her impression, shouldn't the Levitation Charm test one's patience?

In the movie, only Hermione succeeded on the first try, and she only lifted a feather. Kate got distracted, and the leaves filling the yard fell, kicking up dust.

"Cough! Teacher," Kate coughed lightly and asked embarrassedly, "Did you see any problems with my casting just now?"

Newt snapped back from the scene just now, looking at her with a rather strange expression in his green eyes. "You continue first!"

Unable to tell what his expression meant, Kate had to turn around and continue releasing every spell she knew.

"Alohomora!"

All the rooms in the house popped open at once.

"Lumos!"

The tip of the wand suddenly burst with light, almost scaring her into throwing the wand away.

"Protego!"

An invisible barrier crashed down in front of Kate, kicking up waves of dust again.

Soon, four spells were successfully released. Even Kate herself felt it was exceptionally incredible.

Before, she had only memorized the release methods and incantations of various common spells under the old butler's supervision, but she had never used them. To use them so smoothly on the first try today... Is she actually a magical genius?

Thinking of the soon-to-be-completed Daily Quest, she excitedly called out the last spell.

"Accio Keys—eh?"

Her body fell backward without any sensation, caught in time by Newt who rushed over.

Kate opened her eyes wide, confused. Her hand clutching the wand trembled slightly; she wanted to lift it, but had no strength at all.

"Teacher, I..."

"Don't speak yet." Newt picked her up lightly, turned to look at the courtyard messed up by his disciple, and walked into the house with a heavy expression.

Until she was placed on the bed, Kate still didn't understand what had happened. Her hands still had no strength, and the wand fell onto the bed.

She looked at Newt with exceptional innocence. "Teacher, did I do something wrong?"

But she clearly did it according to the methods the old butler taught.

Newt sighed, leaned over, and rubbed her head. "Wait until your body recovers, then we'll talk."
