The two of them made their way toward the odd-looking house, a place that seemed as though someone had randomly stitched extra sections of other buildings onto it. Moody cast a disillusionment charm on himself while Julian stepped forward and knocked on the thick wooden door. A middle-aged man with red hair and freckles opened it wide enough to let Moody slip inside unseen before greeting Julian. "You must be Ron and the others' father. It's a pleasure to meet you properly. Julian Ravenclaw!" Julian said with a smile that looked perfectly natural. "Arthur Weasley. My sons have done nothing but sing your praises since they got home," the man replied, trying to sound normal, though there was still a clear stiffness to him.
"No need to worry, I'll make sure they're all well looked after while I'm here," Julian said, the double meaning in his words not lost on Arthur, who seemed to ease up slightly. "Enough talking in the doorway, come on in. We were just having breakfast, so once that's done the boys are all yours," Arthur said, layering his own sentence with meaning. In other words, Julian and Moody were to wait until after breakfast before making a move on Pettigrew so it would affect the family as little as possible.
"As it happens, I haven't had breakfast myself yet. I hope you won't mind if I join you?" Julian asked, still wearing that same easy smile. From the nearby table where the family was eating, Molly Weasley spoke up at once. "Not at all, dear, come sit down!" she said, and with a flick of her wand, a chair and plate were set out for him. Julian thanked her sincerely, this time with a genuinely warm smile, then sat down, helped himself to some eggs and bacon, and began to eat.
"Did you season the bacon with peppercorn?" he asked after noticing the flavor in the thick, crispy slices. Molly beamed. "Why yes, I do, though nobody ever seems to notice!" she said, clearly pleased to show off her cooking. Julian nodded. "If you really want to bring the flavor out, the trick is to roast the peppercorns before grinding them," he said helpfully, drawing surprised looks from Harry and the entire Weasley family. "You cook?" Ron asked in disbelief. Julian laughed for real at that. "A little. Nothing worth boasting about, I assure you," he said modestly, even if that was not exactly true.
At that moment, his memory held countless recipes he had learned from the books at Hogwarts, though many of them were badly outdated. "Nonsense. Just being able to cook is more than I can say for any of my boys, no matter how much I insist," Molly said, sounding as though she was subtly trying to encourage her children to take after him. Arthur, meanwhile, had relaxed a great deal after seeing how calmly Julian was managing the situation, while Moody was left wondering how he was so naturally skilled at slipping into a setting without causing even the slightest ripple, since that was an extremely useful talent to have.
Breakfast passed without any of the unaware people seeing through Julian's act. He even slipped Peter a bit of food to make the man lower his guard even more, because after all, who usually showed kindness right before attacking? Once the meal was over, Julian, Ron, and Harry remained in the living room with Ron's parents while the rest of the family drifted off to do one thing or another. "Ah, before I forget, I have a gift for your pet rat," Julian said, as though the thought had only just come to him.
"Really? What for?" Ron asked, both puzzled and surprised. "I hadn't really considered it before, but there are a lot of cats at Hogwarts, and honestly he's been lucky none of them have gotten him already, so I made a ring to protect him from attacks. Best of all, it also works like a collar, so if he ever gets out no one can assume he doesn't belong to someone," Julian explained with a smile as he pulled the prepared ring out of Greed. Ron grinned widely. "Thanks, mate, you're the best!" he said before eagerly lifting up the rat.
Peter was interested as well, since, just as Julian had said, he had only managed to avoid being eaten by a cat through being clever enough to escape. Julian held the ring in front of the rat's face, and it eagerly pushed its entire head through the opening before going completely still as the magic took effect. In moments, the rat grew heavier and heavier as its body expanded, causing Ron to drop it in horror. A plump, mouse-faced man with a stunned expression was suddenly lying on the floor. Moody let his charm fall away and appeared as though from nowhere. "Peter Pettigrew, you are under arrest for being an illegal Animagus and for helping the Dark Lord murder Lily and James Potter," he said harshly, wand aimed directly at Peter.
