Chapter 13 - Art is an Explosion!

After resting for a moment to recover his stamina, Amamiya Rin obtained potassium nitrate fertilizer from the gardening section of the Home Center, sulfur powder from the hardware section, charcoal from the barbecue section, along with a scattered pile of other materials.

Wearing protective gear and with the assistance of Saeko Busujima, Amamiya Rin utilized his recently reviewed high school knowledge. Using potassium nitrate, sulfur, charcoal, ball bearings, and medium-sized iron buckets, he spent half an hour manufacturing a 2,000-gram explosive charge.

Although Amamiya Rin would have preferred to make thermite bombs, deflagration bombs, or even sodium azide bombs, he was still lacking the necessary equipment and materials.

"Let's test its power."

Amamiya Rin handed the explosive bucket and a lighter to Saeko Busujima. Saeko Busujima took the explosive bucket, weighed it in her hand, and turned to walk toward the entrance of the Home Center.

Outside the main doors, which were blocked by over a dozen shelves, the sturdy glass doors had already shattered under the crushing pressure of hundreds of zombies. The zombies roared as they rammed against the shelves, causing the barricade to tremble faintly.

Saeko Busujima leaped lightly onto the top of the shelves, her long purple hair fluttering in the light. She looked down at the walking dead below, used the lighter to ignite the fuse of the explosive charge, and tossed it toward the area where the zombies were most dense.

The explosive charge traced an arc through the air and fell into the roaring horde of corpses.

After a brief silence—

Boom!

A deafening explosion tore through the air. Flames shot into the sky, while thick smoke and a foul stench spread outward. Over a dozen zombies were blown to pieces by the violent shockwave, and even more were flipped to the ground by the explosion's aftermath.

"Art is an explosion!"

Feeling the scorching heat rushing toward his face, Amamiya Rin spread his arms and shouted loudly, fitting the occasion perfectly.

Saeko Busujima turned her head and looked at Amamiya Rin speechlessly. She was always unable to understand the strange neural circuits of her male companion.

"The situation has gotten worse. The sound of the explosion will attract zombies from the entire area," Saeko Busujima reminded Amamiya Rin as she jumped down from the shelf.

Even if they used explosives to eliminate a few zombies, the situation would not improve. The massive noise would attract more zombies; hundreds were already surging in from all directions, filling the empty space blasted by the explosive charge in the blink of an eye.

"It doesn't matter. Even without the sound of the explosion, what is destined to come will come sooner or later."

Amamiya Rin chuckled, not caring in the slightest.

The [Long Dream] was essentially a Nightmare. No matter how he hid, it was impossible to shake off these zombies. Whether he used explosive charges or fled through the back door, he would eventually run into a massive tide of corpses.

Since that was the case, then let's blow them up! Blow them until their faces bloom like peach blossoms!

"You continue to reinforce the defensive line. I'm going to make more explosive charges."

Amamiya Rin had Saeko Busujima push more shelves to reinforce the barricade at the main gate, while he ran off to continue manufacturing explosives. A place like a Home Center might not have much else, but it had plenty of materials.

It wasn't until two hours later, when the defensive line at the Home Center's entrance was about to completely collapse, that Amamiya Rin finally managed to manufacture ten 2,000-gram explosive charges with Saeko Busujima's assistance.

Stuffing the explosives into a hiking backpack he had found, Amamiya Rin handed the bag to Saeko Busujima.

"Let's leave through the back door and find a place with a sufficient supply of water and food."

Saeko Busujima nodded, the Wooden sword held in her hand, and moved first toward the employee channel.

The situation in the back alley was slightly better than imagined; there were only a scattered dozen or so zombies wandering about.

Saeko Busujima quickly dispatched them. Amamiya Rin tried hard to keep up with her pace from behind, but his legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, and he couldn't walk fast at all.

(This won't work. I can't get far just by walking.)

Amamiya Rin prayed intensely in his heart while adjusting his breathing.

(I need a car... I need someone who can drive!)

Although Amamiya Rin could drive, given his heavy body in the dream, it was too easy to get into a car accident.

As if responding to his call, a vague cry of alarm suddenly came from not far ahead, followed immediately by the sound of glass being shattered by a heavy object.

The two exchanged a glance and vigilantly approached the source of the sound.

Turning the corner of the alley, the tragic state of a Convenience store came into view.

The glass windows facing the street had been smashed to pieces. Shelves were toppled askew, with merchandise scattered all over the floor. Dozens of zombies surrounded the main entrance, and a few were attempting to crawl in through the broken windows.

Looking through the gaps between the zombies, a dazzling streak of gold was particularly conspicuous amidst the mess. A woman with extremely voluptuous curves and golden hair was clutching a medical kit, standing helplessly in front of a shelf.

"It's Ms. Marikawa!"

Saeko Busujima shouted, looking slightly surprised.

"Shizuka Marikawa!"

Medic plus driver—good lord, talk about getting what you want.

A look of joy appeared on Amamiya Rin's face.

Although this ability to have his wishes come true had major limitations and wasn't enough to counter true danger, it was incredibly convenient for small matters.

"Saeko, the explosive charge!"

Amamiya Rin shouted immediately.

The surrounding zombies were gathering more and more; fighting hard was obviously unwise.

Saeko Busujima immediately understood Amamiya Rin's intent. She quickly took an explosive charge from the backpack and lit the fuse.

"Ms. Marikawa! Find cover!"

At the same time, Amamiya Rin shouted toward the golden-haired figure inside the Convenience store.

Shizuka Marikawa seemed to freeze for a moment, but she immediately hugged the medical kit and shrank behind a shelf.

Saeko Busujima calculated the timing and swung her arm violently, accurately throwing the explosive charge into the area where the zombie herd was most dense.

Boom—!!

The massive explosion was deafening. Flames and thick smoke instantly swallowed the zombies at the entrance of the Convenience store. The shockwave directly shattered the remaining glass of the store, blasting a huge gap in the zombie horde blocking the outside.

In the next moment, Saeko Busujima rushed into the smoke and dust like an arrow released from the string, her Wooden sword swinging ruthlessly to quickly clear away the remaining zombies.

Amamiya Rin also struggled to keep up, rushing into the messy Convenience store.

"Ms. Marikawa, are you alright?"

"Ah, I'm saved?"

The smoke and dust inside the Convenience store gradually dispersed. Shizuka Marikawa blinked her large, hazy eyes, seeming to finally understand the current situation.

"Student Amamiya, Student Busujima...!"

Shizuka Marikawa stumbled over, clutching the medical kit. Her voluptuous chest swayed gently with her movements. However, she seemed completely oblivious to the mess under her feet; she stumbled, and her entire body lunged forward—

"W-Wait...!"

Before Amamiya Rin could finish speaking, he was hit full-on by a soft yet extremely heavy impact. It was like the impact of a flesh-tank; his already heavy body couldn't withstand this sudden weight at all. His legs went soft, and he staggered, falling backward.

"Eek!"

Shizuka Marikawa cried out in surprise, her hands subconsciously gripping Amamiya Rin's clothes tightly. The result was that both of them fell to the ground together.

"Ugh—!"

The heavy impact made Amamiya Rin groan as his back slammed solidly onto the floor, shaking him until he saw stars. Shizuka Marikawa's fullness, carrying astonishing elasticity and weight, crushed onto his face.

His vision was completely obscured by a patch of soft white fabric, and his nasal cavity was filled with a sweet, cloying fragrance mixed with the scent of disinfectant. The gapless crushing brought a strong sense of suffocation to Amamiya Rin, causing him to subconsciously open his mouth.
