Chapter 1 - THE BLOODMOON

The night was too quiet.

I knew these woods better than anyone. I had hunted here since I could walk on four legs. The air just didn't feel right I muttered to myself, something is wrong .

Above the treetops, the moon bled red. Not silver. Not pale, but Crimson.

The elders used to whisper about nights like this when the Blood Moon rose and the boundary between our world and the darkness beyond thinned. I had always thought they were just stories.

Tonight, they didn't feel like stories.

A rustle.

My ears sharpened. My pulse quickened.

I was not alone.

From the shadows of the ruined stone chapel at the forest's edge, a figure emerged. Tall. Cloaked in black. His eyes burned like dying embers. He moved swiftly , as though the earth itself refused to betray him.

"Wolf," he said, his voice velvet and venom. You shouldn't be here!

My claws flexed against the dirt. "Neither should you."

I bared my teeth, ready to strike.

But something tightened in my chest.

Not hate.

Something else.

Something dangerous.

The kind of pull that binds enemies long before they understand why.

The Blood Moon pulsed above us promise and curse.

And for the first time in centuries, the fate of wolves and vampires shifted on its rise.

The forest didn't feel the same when I returned to camp. Everything smelled like smoke and metal, sharp in my nose. The moon still hung there, red and heavy, watching.

The others felt it too. I saw it in the way they paced around the clearing, eyes glowing, ears twitching at every sound.

My father stood near the fire, his shadow stretching long in the bloodlight. Aldric never needed to raise his voice to be heard, but tonight it came out rough.

"The vampires are moving," he said, looking at each of us like he could see through fur and bone. "The moon bleeds, and silence means danger. We must be ready."

Growls rippled through the pack. The younger wolves snapped their jaws, eager for blood.

I stayed quiet.

His face "the vampire's "still lingered in my mind. His voice too.

I hadn't told anyone.

I couldn't.

Mother Sera shuffled forward, leaning heavily on her carved staff. Her voice was thin, but sharp.

The red moon comes once in a hundred years, she said. And with it, the curse awakens. Wolf and vampire, bound together by blood. They will bring salvation… or ruin.

Her words crawled down my spine.

Because I knew.

I had seen him.

Felt that strange pull, like a chain wrapping tight around me.

Father growled low. Prophecies are for the weak. We live by fang, not riddles.

He sounded strong but I saw his hand tighten on his blade and the fear in his eyes was obvious.

The fire spat sparks into the night, and one by one, the pack lifted their heads and howled.

It was our vow.

I tried to join in.

My throat locked.

And in that silence, I realized something terrifying.

I wasn't sure if I was still howling for my pack or I was just lost in thoughts about the prophecy. The next night, I told myself I was hunting.

But my paws led me back to the chapel.

It was my safe haven the forest always had been a place where I could breathe without my father's gaze weighing on me.

Leaves rustled.

He emerged from the shadows

The silence between us stretched tight, ready to snap. My claws dug into the earth, but the ache in my chest was louder than instinct.

He stepped closer, his hood falling back just enough for the moonlight to touch his pale face. His hair was black as ash, catching the red glow.

You know the stories, he said softly. Wolves and vampires are not meant to meet like this.

Then leave, I said baring my teeth.

A faint smirk curved his lips. If I could.

My heart stuttered.

His words carried weight truth I didn't understand but felt, like a chain coiled around us both.

Before I could answer, a howl tore through the forest.

My pack they where close

His expression shifted. Go they must not find us together.

Before I could say a word, He vanished into the shadows as if the forest swallowed him whole.

My breath came fast. Uneven.

The pull lingered, even after he was gone.

And that terrified me more than his presence had. I hurriedly ran back home I was very overstimulated and needed to take a shower after one hell of a night , I ran the shower and made sure it was hot hot the water gave me some warmth I needed for the night. I got dressed in my night clothes and headed to bed I couldn't sleep for a while because memories of the day flashed between my mind and I kept on asking myself why? Why me? Deep down I knew I was a part of the prophecy but I refused to come to terms with it.

The next day in the cool of the evening ,l stood at the clearing , "you reek of him" my father snarled . Who I asked? Trying to act like I didn't know what or who he was referring to , the vampire! He's voiced echoed . Don't you dare lie to me! Wolves of my pack gathered snarling and circling me , I can explain I said loudly but with fear "While your kin bleed," he roared, you consort with the enemy? Those creatures has been our rivals for generations they've done unforgivable things to our clan and descendants and you commune with them?!

Under his anger, I heard fear.

But I could not speak the truth.

My silence was already a confession.

Weakness cannot live in this pack,he said. "Not in my blood."

He raised his blade, to strike me but my mother said loudly, enough! My father was enraged because no one questioned his authority as alpha not even my mother but she was he's alpha mate she was the only who would have been able to question him I was few inches away from being dead. My heart was pounding and sweat trickled down my chin. Take kaelira inside my mother told my brother Jakob , he held me and asked what happened? He was out on a scouting mission in the forest on orders by my father. After narrating the order to my brother he gave me a gentle pat on the back and assured our father was going to be fine but i really doubted considering his temperament.
