Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Divination

Trafalgar Square, a famous square in Backlund's Empress Borough, consists of seven large shopping malls. The first floor is mostly filled with various coffee shops, tea shops, restaurants, and Houses of Divination... Wait, 'House of Divination'? It seems divination is popular everywhere.

After getting off the carriage, Vera pulled at him and said, "Count Altair, I heard there are many high-end perfumes from the Intis Republic here. Can we go take a look? Also, also, the Bonaparte Restaurant has authentic Intis court cuisine, said to have been invented by Emperor Roselle, and there are unique fruits from the Southern Continent..."

Looking at his little maid's lively appearance, Altair felt his mood relax and said, "Did you bring any gold pounds? These things aren't cheap."

Hearing this, Vera held Altair's hand and said, "Count Altair, you wouldn't want outsiders to know that your own maid buys things without paying, right?"

This sentence directly fried Altair's brain. When he snapped out of it, he swatted Vera's hand away and asked, "Who taught you this? You're so young and already learning bad habits."

Vera said with a face full of grievance, "You did, of course, Count Altair. Isn't that what you said back then? I remember you said, 'You wouldn't want...'"

"Mmph... mmph!"

Hearing Vera's words, Altair immediately covered her mouth, forcibly interrupting her, and said, "Only you would learn such things. Look at Irene, why doesn't she say these things to me?"

"Let's go, Irene. We'll go shopping and eat delicious food, and let Vera just watch."

If he let Vera keep talking, Altair felt like all his secrets might be exposed by her.

Seeing the two walking away, Vera hurriedly followed after them in a panic.

Perhaps because he was walking too fast and taking large strides, Altair almost tripped because his foot caught on the hem of his skirt. Fortunately, Irene saw and rushed forward to support him, saying, "Count Altair, the design of this outfit restricts you to only taking small steps."

After stabilizing himself, Altair patted Irene's hand that was supporting him and said, "I know."

Vera caught up at this moment and, seeing the two supporting each other, asked, "What's wrong?"

The only response she got was a roll of the eyes from Altair. "Nothing, let's go."

Watching the two leave, Vera scratched her head, unable to figure out what she had done wrong again... Meanwhile, in Private Room No. 5 of the Bonaparte Restaurant.

"So delicious! As expected of a delicacy invented by Emperor Roselle."

Altair looked at his little maid's sigh of admiration and shook his head helplessly.

Through the waiter's introduction just now, he learned that this was a brand-new method 'created' by Roselle Gustav after waking up from a coma caused by a high fever.

Altair thought to himself, "Roselle is quite impressive. To dare to create a completely new cuisine just after arriving in such a world—I wouldn't dare."

Although this wasn't a traditional fantasy world with 'Soul Possession' settings, it had its own unique form of 'possession'.

The technologies I brought out might be ahead of their time, but they still have a traceable logic. Food, something completely unrelated to me, is something I wouldn't dare to copy randomly.

"Are you full?"

Hearing Altair's words, Vera nodded and said, "I'm full, Count Altair."

Looking at this bowl of otherworldly 'Zha Jiang Mian,' Altair stood up to leave. The more he thought, the more he missed home. No wonder 'Klein' almost lost control on the spot when he heard this was Earth; the feeling of homesickness is indeed painful... Arriving downstairs, Altair directly entered the 'House of Divination,' intending to try out a reading.

When Altair entered the House of Divination, he took in the decor at a glance. It wasn't much different from an ordinary shop. There was a receptionist at the door, and inside were several round tables with various crystal balls, star charts, and other divination tools.

The receptionist, seeing Altair and the two maids enter, clearly knew a big customer had arrived and hurriedly put down her work to come and receive them.

"My lady, do you require a divination?"

Altair observed the receptionist through 'Spirit Vision' and saw she clearly didn't have the spirituality of a Beyonder. He couldn't help but mock his own thoughts: "If even a receptionist were a Beyonder, would you even dare to enter this shop?"

Altair gave the receptionist a smile and said, "I need a divination."

Hearing Altair's words, the receptionist took a register from the front desk and began introducing which 'Seer' in their shop was the most capable. "Mr. Ethan Gray is currently the most capable in the shop, while Mr. Zen Murphy is slightly less so... Personally, I recommend Mr. Ethan Gray; he happens to be in the shop today."

Listening to the receptionist's introduction, Altair directly chose the most capable one, Ethan Gray.

"Please inform Mr. Ethan Gray that I would like him to perform a divination for me."

"Then, my lady, please follow me. Mr. Ethan Gray is currently in the Amethyst Divination Room. I will lead you directly inside."

Once at the door of the divination room, the receptionist inquired, "My lady, would you like anything to drink? We have Pulo Coffee and South Mountain Black Tea."

Hearing this, Altair said without thinking, "Black tea will do. If possible, a cup of Sweet Iced Black Tea."

He could never get used to coffee in the past, and it was even less likely now.

"Mr. Ethan Gray, a lady requires a divination."

As the receptionist finished speaking, a deep voice came from inside the room: "Enter."

The receptionist immediately opened the door and guided Altair inside.

"You two wait at the door; there's no need to follow me in."

After saying this, Altair entered the divination room and saw a middle-aged man wearing a black tailcoat with a kind-looking face. However, observing from a Spectator's perspective, one would notice obvious dark circles under his eyes, and his mental state was clearly not good, as if he were anxious about something.

"Please, sit."

Ethan Gray directly invited Altair to sit and asked, "This lad—er! This lady, what content do you need me to divine for you?"

Altair looked at the man before him and felt like he had just realized something. He said directly, "I want to divine the future."

Ethan Gray didn't say much more and let Altair begin choosing the divination tools.

"I have crystal balls, star charts, mirrors, Tarot Cards..."

"Tarot Cards, then."

Hearing Altair's choice, Ethan Gray did not hesitate. He took out the Tarot Cards, shuffled them, and placed them before him, saying, "Think of the question you need answered deep in your heart, and in an unconscious state, randomly pick three cards from these."

Hearing Ethan Gray's instructions, Altair reached out and randomly selected three cards.

"The Fool," "The Empress," "Wheel of Fortune."

Looking at the three cards Altair had chosen, Ethan Gray began his interpretation.

"The Fool is the starting card of the Tarot, generally representing: new beginnings, adventure..."

"The Empress represents motherhood, fertility, nature..."

"The Wheel of Fortune represents opportunity, karma, good luck..."

"To be honest, this... lady, this might mean your future is a new beginning, full of unknowns while also being long since predestined."

After finishing his interpretation, Ethan Gray looked at the beautiful lady whose expression wasn't very good and added, "But Tarot Cards also have reversed positions. Perhaps there are other meanings, such as: impractical fantasies, excessive behavioral dependence, or things repeating in cycles..."

Altair had studied divination a while ago and knew the meanings of these cards. He could understand the upright positions, but if they were reversed, was this a warning to him?

"Mr. Ethan Gray, how much is your divination fee?"

Hearing Altair's question, Ethan Gray said directly, "That will be 3 sol... lady."

Altair pulled out a 1-pound note from his wallet, placed it on the table, and got up to leave.
