Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The Person Without Destiny

July 26, 1346, Sunday

After eating breakfast in the morning, Altair left the Sheffield Family home with Vera.

They took a carriage to Buckingham Sweet Room on Downton Street in the North District of Backlund.

After entering, they found a secluded corner and began waiting for the inviter.

Watching Vera eat chocolate cake, Altair couldn't help but ask curiously, "Are you sure it's here?"

"I'm sure it's here." After Vera realized her words were muffled, she put down her cake fork, swallowed the cake in her mouth, and said with a firm expression, "Count Altair, I am absolutely certain it is here."

After hearing Vera's words, Altair did not choose to reply, but instead picked up a spoon and boredly stirred the black tea in front of him.

It was mainly because they had been here for too long since coming out this morning, which made Altair a bit impatient from waiting.

If it weren't for the fact that the person coming today was somewhat special, he would have left long ago.

He checked his pocket watch and found that the appointed time had arrived; it was about to be overdue... Time continued to flow, and the pot of black tea had been finished and refilled.

At this moment, the shop door was finally pushed open, accompanied by the distinct sound of a bell.

For the first time, Altair thought this sound was like heavenly music.

Looking up, he saw a young boy with limited mobility walking over.

When the boy reached Altair's table, he also sat down directly.

Looking at the person before him, Altair did not feel surprised. He casually summoned a waiter and gestured for a 'dessert menu'.

Altair's behavior made the boy beam with joy: "I want chocolate ice cream, strawberry cream ice cream, lemon frost ice cream... that's all for now."

Hearing the boy's words, Vera seemed to be inspired and also asked the waiter for a 'dessert menu', saying, "I want a rose lychee ice cream."

Looking at the two, Altair couldn't help but complain, "Aren't you afraid of getting diarrhea from eating so much ice cream?"

The child did not take Altair's advice to heart and said with a beaming smile, "It wasn't easy for me to come out once, so of course I have to eat my fill. Besides, it's midsummer now and the weather is so hot, it'll be fine."

Vera also nodded in agreement with this statement.

Subsequently, the atmosphere at the dining table became awkward. The two looked at each other, one smiling and one silent. Meanwhile, Vera began to nod her head as if she were falling asleep.

After the waiter finished serving the ice cream, Altair, who could not stand the atmosphere, refilled a cup of tea for himself, took a sip, and said flatly:

"You're late, Mr. 'serpent of destiny'. It's already been an hour and a half since the appointed time."

"If it weren't for my curiosity, we would have left by now."

Will had a difficult expression on his face, but he still said calmly, "This was a last resort; it was originally all arranged.

"It's just that an 'unexpected accident' occurred. Someone I don't want to see suddenly came to Backlund."

"Mm, this also has a certain connection to you. At the same time, I suggest you minimize outdoor activities as much as possible during this time and stay at home."

Related to me, someone he doesn't want to see, that 'Big Snake'?

Altair nodded, deciding to accept the 'Little Snake's' suggestion to rarely leave the house in the near future.

But he still asked curiously, "Did that Big Snake come to Backlund recently?"

Regarding Altair's question, Will simply blinked his large eyes and said in a crisp voice, "It seems you know a lot. To think you could guess my identity and his identity immediately without even thinking. That's right, he just arrived."

Regarding the 'Big Snake' matter, Altair did not want to inquire too much, turning instead to say, "I thought we would never meet. I wonder, Mr. 'serpent of destiny', is there something you're looking for me for today?"

Will said calmly, "Actually, I hadn't planned on meeting you. After all, the matters regarding your family were already settled after that bill was sent."

"But some time ago, this little girl suddenly became a 'Monster'. Because I couldn't help my curiosity, I took a look at her 'destiny' and thus discovered you."

"You are very special, oh."

Glancing at the already sleeping Vera beside him, Altair said directly, "Mr. 'serpent of destiny', what do you mean by this?"

Will, who was sitting on the sofa eating ice cream, replied with a smile, "Just as it sounds, your 'destiny' is very special."

"Special?" Altair asked in confusion, "What kind of special?"

Will looked up and thought for a moment, saying with a difficult expression, "Well, how should I put it... everyone in this world, regardless of being 'high or low, rich or poor', has some 'predetermined destiny'."

"But you are different. After my 'observation' for nearly half a month, you essentially have no 'destiny'. It's as if you are a person who appeared out of thin air, and the world has made no arrangements for you."

"Uh..." This sentence directly silenced Altair. A person who essentially has no destiny—does that mean he's an outsider, a transmigrator?

Looking at Altair's appearance, Will chuckled twice and said, "Actually, this is a good thing. At the very least, you don't have to fear being manipulated by others. At the same time, you can use this'specialty' to slightly influence the destinies of others."

"I've asked you here this time to ask if you need a 'child'."

Hearing this, Altair asked with a dark face, "What do you mean?"

"It's exactly what it sounds like," Will scratched his head and said embarrassedly.

"Even though I really like my current family, this body can't hold on for much longer. In three years at most, I'll have to change bodies."

"If I use your body to complete the gestation, I think—"

Before Will could finish speaking, Altair directly interrupted him and said, "I don't have the kind of thoughts you're talking about."

"And my family's upbringing is very strict; you would certainly find it hard to accept."

"When I was young, if I didn't study well, my father would beat me. At that time, I made up my mind that when I had a child, I would definitely end this kind of stick-and-rod education."

After Will finished listening, he asked curiously, "And now?"

Altair said with a serious face, "Father, your fists back then weren't fast enough, and certainly weren't ruthless enough."

This sentence directly left Will speechless, thinking to himself,'So perfunctory, couldn't you find a normal reason?'

In helplessness, Will said directly, "Fine, fine. Actually, I didn't hold much hope to begin with."

"I have no other purpose. Meeting you today was mainly just out of curiosity."

Altair asked curiously, "Will Ouroboros discover my specialty?"},{
