Chapter 7 - Part 7 — Farewell.

"That's it then. I'm outta here."

After finishing that shoe, I tried walking a little more without my right side vision, despite the slight stomachache I was experiencing. This is going to turn into a serious case of diarrhea.

That damn lizard...

I can already see myself having to clean myself with weeds along the way. But that's how it is.

I can't be picky. I never was, to begin with.

Anyway, I glanced at the pair, feeling the weight of the farewell with a big fuck you.

I probably gave the biggest smile of my life as I walked up to them. Those bastards.

I said goodbye, patting them on the head, even though my feathered friend tried to run away a few times but eventually gave up.

I knew it; our friendship isn't platonic... I think?

Of course, they didn't just let me go.

So I also drew some pictures on the ground, bluffing that the bond would be broken with the distance between me and the little one. The big guy even squawked behind my back when I started to walk away, but I just gave him the middle finger without even looking back.

They had no choice but to believe me.

So there I was, nature and a bush... Leaves. I need leaves...

.

.

.

Shit. I should have asked the big guy for a ride.

A little water would also be nice, but it was doubtful he would bring any, so I let it go.

Now I have no idea where I am, and I have this stomachache too.

But it sucks; if I left without giving them both an explanation, they wouldn't have let me go. Or rather, without a good enough excuse to keep up my bluff.

Blaming the distance was my best option, and if I asked for a ride, the bastard would kill me halfway there.

At least I'm still inside the zone, so nothing will attack me. I think.

Another shitty thing is that there are no traces from two weeks ago to follow, all because the vegetation has covered everything.

Well, at some point I'll leave the zone anyway. Good thing I put more or less the diameter of the zone in my bluff. Phew.

Now it's just walking and walking...

.

.

.

It was already night when I gave up and decided to sleep at the base of a tree. Hours and hours, but no exit.

I think I'll just go straight tomorrow, without deviating from anything on the way.

Finishing that thought, I fell asleep naked in the middle of nowhere. What an innovative experience.

.

.

.

How lucky... I woke up with the only ray of sunlight passing through all the vegetation on my face.

Ignore that. Just ignore it.

I have no doubt it was that damn chicken. How is it possible to have a single ray of sunlight right on my face?

Didn't we agree to leave all resentment behind?

Anyway, I stretched a little, yawning, and soon noticed something on my neck...

I grabbed it and pulled it, bringing it into my line of sight.

At first, I thought it was a vine because of how dehydrated it looked, but then I realized...

"Breakfast!"

It was a snake...

The damn thing must have spent the whole night biting me...

Too bad for her. Unlike the other two, she was still a normal snake.

Thinking about it made me feel a little sorry for her. Someone even more unlucky than me.

Is it still alive? I don't think so. Maybe I would let you go if you were alive, but you're not...

Just when I was convinced it was dead, the bastard went and bit my hand. Look at the audacity.

It couldn't bite my neck all night, but it goes for my finger?

"You know what? I like you."

I threw the damn thing over my shoulder and started walking again. Convinced I would take the bitch with me.

"But be smart; if we don't find anything on the way, you'll become food."

I warned her as she continued to bite me.

The path was ahead. Full of branches, thorns, and poison...

.

.

.

The urge to give up was strong, but the urge to cry was stronger...

All the time something was hitting my face. A branch here, a thorn there, poison here...

The left side of my face was all scratched now, but despite that, I didn't stop, making my way through the vegetation.

The forest was completely silent, and the wind was extremely gentle, as always. The only sound was the destruction of the vegetation and my cursing.

At least I felt like I was going somewhere now, along with my irritated scarf.

She was really eager to become food. Or maybe it's him? Oh, whatever.

Anyway, still no sign of the vegetation thinning out? It's been hours, come on, how much longer do I have to keep going?

I'm so thirsty...

.

.

.

Well, I complained, but it didn't take long for the vegetation to start thinning out, and by sunset, my new friend and I finally made it out of the zone.

Fresh air again...
