Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Magic Tool Left Behind by the Mysterious Woman

"Then take this." Leng Qing casually placed a jade box on the table and reminded him,

"This is a magic tool. You don't need to refine it, just wear it. It can block spiritual probing and will be beneficial to you."

"Thank you." Fang Yu was visibly moved.

An unexpected gain.

At this stage, Bo City was hiding members of the Black Vatican. If he were exposed, it would easily bring disaster upon him.

As for whether this mysterious woman was part of the Black Vatican, if she wasn't, that was fine. But if she was…

His situation would become unimaginably difficult. Still, he could only take things one step at a time.

After all, weakness is the original sin.

Leng Qing slowly rose to her feet and walked toward the door.

When she reached it, she glanced back at Fang Yu. That look carried a hint of deeper meaning.

Fang Yu was puzzled.

"Don't reveal anything about me."

The moment Leng Qing began to speak, Fang Yu immediately responded, "Understood. I will never tell anyone anything about you."

"You'd better remember what you said." Leng Qing gave him one last look before stepping out.

After waiting a long while and confirming she had completely left, Fang Yu finally let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Whenever he saw her, his heart would grow restless. Now that she was gone, it settled back into calm.

It didn't feel good.

Marrying a fair, wealthy beauty, there was still a long road ahead.

"What did she leave behind?"

Fang Yu walked to the table and picked up the jade box.

He quickly discovered it was a pale silver necklace.

A faint, peculiar fluctuation emanated from it.

There was a slip of paper inside the jade box explaining the magic tool's effects: it could resist mental intrusion.

Not only that, it could also block the spiritual attacks attached to abilities of the Psychic and Curse elements.

"This is practically a top-tier magic artifact. It's a treasure. Looks like that woman is determined to recruit me."

Opportunity came with risk.

But as long as he was given time, that risk could be greatly reduced.

Fang Yu picked up the magic necklace and decisively put it on, hiding it beneath his inner clothing.

With this magic tool, it would be easier for him to stay concealed.

Next, Fang Yu hurried toward the breeding base.

The Bo City military breeding base covered a vast area. It included lakes, grasslands, small snow-capped hills, all habitats for different tamed beasts.

To take care of so many tamed beasts, the base employed a large number of staff. Nearby was a huge employee residential area, and the processing and transportation of beast feed were all carried out there as well.

Inside the base's feed factory, many caretakers had gathered. However, due to differing task assignments, most of them had little interaction with one another.

After arriving, Fang Yu went straight to find the feed he was assigned to transport. His objective was clear. But once he obtained it, the specifications of the feed far exceeded his expectations.

"No wonder ordinary people can't afford this. These tamed beasts eat better than humans."

As Fang Yu carried two heavy refrigerated boxes out, he couldn't help but mutter to himself.

Inside the boxes were layers upon layers of fresh beast meat, at least seven or eight different kinds, seemingly arranged into a specially balanced nutritional meal.

There were many more such boxes inside the room, all of which were meant to be the breakfast for the Snow Wolf pack he was assigned to feed.

"Fang Yu?"

"Are you going to feed the Snow Wolves?"

While Fang Yu was transporting the meat back and forth, someone noticed the type of feed he was carrying and suddenly teased, "That bunch isn't exactly friendly. Be careful."

"But then again, the medical room at our breeding base is pretty reliable…"

"Don't listen to his nonsense. With the Snow Wolf King there, there's no danger at all," someone nearby reassured Fang Yu.

"Just kidding, just kidding. We're done with our load. Do you need a hand?" the first person asked again.

Looking at the two of them, Fang Yu realized he had absolutely no impression of who they were. He could only respond with an awkward yet polite smile. "Thanks, but it's fine. I'm almost done too."

After that, the three didn't continue chatting. They each still had work to do.

After the others left, Fang Yu recalled that when he reported in yesterday, the team leader had briefly explained the job duties to the interns. He hadn't stayed long afterward, instead quickly returning to his residence to make a breakthrough.

So he hadn't made friends right away in this new workplace, nor had he integrated into the various small circles.

No wonder, even though they were fellow interns, he had barely any impression of the others, he hadn't even remembered their names.

On the other hand, he remembered quite a lot about the breeding base's tamed beast records.

Fang Yu shook his head. For now, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. He would just keep things this way for the time being.

In any case, his top priority was to gradually adapt to the imposing presence of magical beasts. Socializing could come later.

After finally spending some time loading a cart full of meat feed, Fang Yu started the transport vehicle and drove alone toward a section of the snowy hills. This was precisely the habitat of the Snow Wolves.

After arriving at the destination, he parked, got out, and began unloading the meat. Fang Yu quickly got busy.

During the process, faint afterimages flashed across the white mountainside in the distance. The figures of five massive wolves appeared.

"Awoooo!!!"

"Awoooo!!!"

A heart-trembling sound rang out. Accompanied by repeated howls, the snow-white giant wolves from the snowy hill began charging in this direction. At first, they were extremely fast, but gradually slowed to a walk.

Even walking, however, they exuded immense pressure.

"Awoooo!!!"

Each giant wolf was about two meters long and nearly one meter tall. They were well developed, hard to imagine that these were merely "cubs."

Their bodies were covered in long white fur, while their tails, backs, and limbs were blanketed in dense ice-blue fur. As they approached, their blue pupils locked onto Fang Yu, sharp fangs bared, cold mist swirling from their mouths.

Name: Snow Wolf

Species Rank: Servant-level

Tame Beast Rating: Five-Star

Description: A beast-type magical creature that inhabits snowy mountain regions. Its frozen fangs and claws can easily tear through steel. It excels at concealing itself and hunting in blizzard conditions.

Fang Yu had a solid knowledge base. The relevant information about this tamed beast immediately surfaced in his mind. A magical beast's species rank represented its strength, divided into Servant, Warrior, Commander, and Monarchl evels.

As for the tame beast rating, Five-Star was the minimum standard for practical use. However, they were not permitted within city limits, as the possibility of a Five-Star tamed beast rebelling or attacking pedestrians if startled could not be ruled out.

Six-Star was considered the safest level. The military's Sky Eagles were of this rating.

Seven-Star referred to the summoned creatures of Summoning Element mages.

These were dimensional summoned beasts called forth from the dimensional plane, similar to Mo Fan's One-Eyed Magic Wolf. They belonged to a level completely under the control of a Summoning mage.

As for Contracted Beasts, they were not included in this rating system. A Contracted Beast was essentially an extension of the summoner; if something went wrong, it was the summoner's own responsibility.

For tamed beasts, reaching Six-Star was already excellent. Very few pursued Seven-Star.

Five-Star was considered a qualified tame beast. Below Four-Star meant they did not obey human commands very well.

Only Five-Star tamed beasts could form a master-servant bond with humans. Even if one was not a Summoning mage, it was still possible to control a tamed beast.
