Chapter 11 - 11- Amused

"Where is Mrs. Levisay?" Logan asked his boss, Hunter Levisay, who was busy signing the files. It amused him that his boss had given up his personal room and moved upstairs to the smaller one, just because his wife wanted it.

Right now, they were in the living room.

"Logan. Arrange a low-key car for me…" He turned around when Hunter spoke behind him, "And where is that detailed report on Sienna? I'm all ears now."

Logan got serious when he saw a somber expression on Hunter's face. He placed a thick file on the table, "About your wife, boss. You're already aware that she is adopted…" He took a chair across from Hunter and sat on it, "When Mr. and Mrs. Mason couldn't have kids for three years after their wedding, they adopted her. However, after adoption, Mariana Mason conceived Ruby."

Hunter's eyes were on Logan as he heard about his wife's history.

"It might not be relevant, Hunter, but Mariana Mason… she didn't lose her teeth in any kind of accident. She lost her first tooth when she adopted Ma'am Sienna. And then the second one was gone when Ruby was born."

Several lines appeared on Hunter's forehead, "And what's the catch here?" He leaned ahead, resting his elbows on his knees.

"I talked to an old servant. He told me that George Mason pulled his wife's teeth as punishment…"

A flicker of shock crossed Hunter's face, "Punishment?"

"Yeah," Logan nodded, "George Mason wanted a male child and both times, Mariana Mason gave him girls."

Hunter's hands balled into fists, "What an asshole!"

"Indeed," Logan agreed, "Ma'am's biological mom left behind one or two properties. George Mason already took one from her when she turned eighteen, sold it, and used that money in his business, which never did well. Guess what?"

Hunter shook his head and remarked flatly, "The business is still in a bad shape."

"Exactly," Logan nodded, "Thomas Blackwell … aka Tom … promised to help Sienna's parents, in exchange, he was ready to marry their daughter. He already has a mistress and doesn't need a wife. His past mistresses left him because of his violent nature. One of them was about to die and was rushed to the hospital. When she survived, she ran off without leaving any mark behind."

Hunter couldn't hear it anymore. He suddenly got up from the sofa, holding his coffee mug, and headed to the window, "Is he insane? Does he have a high se*x drive?" Even the cool breeze couldn't ease his anger.

"That's the interesting part," Logan pointed his index finger at Hunter, "Like George Mason, Tom also wants a male heir."

"Crap!" Hunter shook his head, "What about Sienna?"

"Her father had his eyes on her mom's second property, which is a piece of land. Two days back, she sold it secretly with the help of her friend and is now using that money to pay you …" He looked around, moving his hands in the air, "This is how she can afford you…"

Hunter let out a quiet breath of awe, his eyes fixed on the calm sea, "I heard them talking in the hospital, Logan. Mrs. Mason was asking her daughter to hand over the property file to her dad. I don't think they will spare her."

Logan flipped a few pages, and then his face turned red, "She gave them a fake property file… the property is under Levisay name… the one around Chilean…"

Hunter let the words hang for a minute and didn't respond. If he had thought that his wife was a firecracker, he was wrong.

She was a landmine.

Hunter straightened when he heard Logan's deep sigh, "She …"

Hunter looked over his shoulder when he didn't speak, "What?"

"Your wife… she is not a lesbian and very much interested in men."

At last, a soft smile crossed Hunter's lips, "And?"

"And … she rarely dated, and when she did, it was always boys. However, she has one steady female friend. Lina Roy... the one who helped her in selling the land…"

Hunter got irritated when Logan didn't speak further, "What is your problem, Logan? Keep speaking…" He, at last, turned around to eye his secretary, leaning against the wall.

Logan's lips shaped a silent 'oh' and exhaled a long sigh, "Ma'am had a rough childhood because of her sister and father. Your wife…"

He trailed off but then raised his palm in defense when he got that deadly look from Hunter, "She suffered her father's beatings until she turned eighteen and…"

Hunter's grip on his coffee cup increased.

George Mason used to beat her? What kind of father does that?

"After that…beatings stopped. She worked hard to graduate so that she could stand on her feet, but till then, her father had already decided to marry her off. Initially, he wanted her to choose Tom Blackwell. However, Ruby wanted Tom, so Ma'am was left with no choice but you."

Hunter didn't remark but wondered. What would she have done if she were with Tom?

He took a sip from his coffee mug that had gotten cold and gave a puzzled look to his secretary.

"What is it?" He slowly walked up to the coffee table, "You need to tell me everything, Logan. Stop being a drama queen."

Logan stopped chewing his lower lip and got up from his seat to face his boss, "Your father-in-law…"

He stopped midsentence when Hunter glared at him, "Don't call him my father-in-law!"

"Okay… George Mason... lost his leg and…"

"Yeah… I know that… what else?" He asked impatiently.

Logan swallowed hard before bringing a forced smile to his face, "I've got confirmed news that his accident was nothing but a drama…"

Hunter chuckled and gestured for Brian to come and get the cup, "That's not possible. He is still admitted in hospital… the poor man really lost his leg."

"Yeah… that's because…"

Hunter's jaw hardened when Logan took the pause, "That's because what, Logan?" He snapped at him and took the glass of water from Brian's hand.

"That's because your wife signed a consent paper to get his leg cut…"

Hunter choked on his water. Brian had to rush back to him to rub his back.

"She did what?" He coughed again, blinking as he wiped the water from his eyes.

Logan looked concerned. Brian was outright scared.

And Hunter Levisay?

He was amused.
