Chapter 1 - good morning

On the bank of a quiet river lived a young girl named Mayuri, in a small village surrounded by green paddy fields and open skies. Her house was made of mud with a tin roof. Her father had died long ago, and her mother worked in other people's homes to earn a living. Alongside her studies, Mayuri stitched clothes and worked in the fields to help her mother. Though poverty walked beside her every day, she never let go of her dreams.

One day, a new student joined the village school. His name was Arya, the son of a wealthy family from the city. Because of his father's job transfer, he had come to live in the village for a few months. His clean white shirt, polished shoes, and expensive watch made him stand out among the village children. Everyone gathered around him with curiosity, but Mayuri watched quietly from a distance. To her, he seemed like someone from a different world.

A few days later, the teacher asked Mayuri to help Arya with his studies. The village syllabus was different from the city's, and Arya was falling behind. On the first day, both felt shy sitting face to face. Mayuri explained the lessons softly, and Arya listened attentively. Slowly, their discomfort faded.

As days passed, a beautiful friendship blossomed between them. After school, they would sit by the river and talk. Mayuri shared her struggles, while Arya spoke about the glittering life of the city. But behind that glitter, Mayuri sensed his loneliness. Arya had everything in life, except the warmth of simple affection and genuine smiles.

One day, a heavy storm hit the village, destroying many houses. The roof of Mayuri's home was blown away. Mother and daughter stood trembling in the rain. When Arya heard the news, he quietly brought a tarpaulin, dry clothes, and food from his home. He helped repair the roof with his own hands. In that moment, the difference between rich and poor seemed to disappear.

But happiness never lasts forever. A few months later, Arya's family decided to return to the city. The news made Mayuri's heart ache. She realized how precious this friendship had become.

On the evening before his departure, they sat by the river once more. The sky glowed red as the sun set. After a long silence, Arya said, "Mayuri, I will never forget you. You taught me what it truly means to be human."

Tears filled Mayuri's eyes. Softly, she replied, "Never forget your dreams. Become someone great, and always stay a good person."

The next morning, Arya left. The village returned to its quiet rhythm, but a new light remained in Mayuri's life. She studied harder and worked more. She carried one dream in her heart—to stand on her own feet one day.

Years passed. After countless struggles, Mayuri opened a small tailoring shop in the city. One day, a gentleman walked into her shop. The face looked familiar, yet more mature. After a moment of silence, he smiled and said, "Mayuri?"

She looked up in surprise—Arya! After so many years, they met again. The same warmth and sincerity still shone in his eyes.

Tears of joy and wonder flowed freely. Though life had taken them on different paths, the bond formed by the riverside remained unbroken.

This story proves that differences in wealth can separate lives, but they can never break the bonds of the heart.
