Chapter 25 - CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: The New Beginning

Months passed. Then years.

The Omaticaya rebuilt. A new Hometree was found, younger but strong, its roots deep in sacred ground. The clans grew closer, united by shared struggle and shared victory. The RDA's remaining forces retreated to their base, licking their wounds, waiting for reinforcements that might never come.

Kaelen became a leader among the People. Not by birth, but by choice—his and theirs. He taught them what he knew of human tactics, human thinking, human weakness. They taught him what it meant to be truly alive.

He and Seri bonded in the old way, before Eywa, before the clan, before the world. Their souls intertwined as surely as their bodies. Ash accepted her as pack. Her thanator accepted him as family.

And sometimes, late at night, when the forest was quiet and the stars were bright, Kaelen would think about the man he had been. The broken soldier in the wheelchair. The desperate soul who had signed away his life for a chance to walk again.

He had gotten so much more.

He had gotten a world. A people. A love. A home.

He had gotten Verath.

And Verath had gotten him.
