Chapter 71 - 71

[Blessing of the Goddess of Luck: When activated, grants the user the "Super Luck" status for 24 hours. Cooldown: seven days.]

"I've waited for days; today the result finally comes—just thinking about it is exciting."

He glanced at the map. After days of travel, Bei Bei Nan Gua had covered roughly half the distance to his island; at this pace she would arrive in three more days at most.

He only wondered whether, once the Ice and Snow Season arrived, new dangers would appear at sea and slow her progress.

"Whatever. If anything shows up, the gear and items I have now should handle it easily."

Lin Bei murmured.

Then he opened his stats panel to review the fruits of his recent efforts.

[Vitality: 183,000 (Transcendent Three-Star)]

[Spirit: 103,000 (Transcendent Three-Star)]

[Life Level: Transcendent Three-Star]

Vitality had risen sharply over the past few days.

Daily nourishment plus the vitality stored by Hunters, combined with training via the Physical Fitness Training Method and a Hundredfold Critical Hit, let him gain 5,000 Combat Power in a single day's workout.

So… in one day he could add the Combat Power of one Da Hei.

Spirit lagged far behind; each day the Mental Strength Training Method only added 1,000 points, with no other way to improve.

He had contacted Aleria to ask about raising Spirit.

Aleria replied bluntly that, apart from rare items like the Mental Strength Training Method, there was no other way to boost the Mental Attribute during the first phase of the Survival World.

Unless he entered the second phase.

She even advised that with his current Combat Power he could rampage through a second-phase Survival World.

But Lin Bei refused.

He felt the second phase would be far harsher than the first.

He hadn't even finished the first Calamity Season of phase one; this was the time to enjoy stable growth—why force himself into a harder world for a few stats?

As for Aleria's claim that he could still rampage… he chose to believe only half of it.

Besides, he was waiting for the server merge after the Ice and Snow Season so he could kill enemy-camp Survivors and steal their luck to restore the lucky goddess's pendant's durability.

Members of enemy camps in High-Level Survival Worlds could not directly interfere in lower-level ones.

Thus he could develop steadily here without worrying about too many schemes.

"Fine, as long as you're happy—but don't forget to wipe out more of those Order Faction hypocrites."

In the end Aleria could only compromise, albeit helplessly.

She had wavered about throwing Lin Bei straight into a higher-level world, but with her younger sister Anya still on his island she finally shook her head and gave them more time to grow.

"There's still a while before the next ranking announcement, so for now… let it be."

Aleria mused inwardly.

Back on Lin Bei's side, he had risen and entered the Warehouse of the Manor Villa; supply treasure chests were piled here like a mountain.

Colors flashed endlessly, dazzling to the eye.

"Master, here is the detailed list of these chests."

Qing Qing came to Lin Bei's side and handed him a sheet.

Lin Bei skimmed it, then couldn't help sucking in a breath.

"This many?"

Lin Bei exclaimed.

"Yes, for some reason, starting a few days ago the daily number of supply treasure chests our island receives has multiplied several times."

Qing Qing answered with a nod.

"Is that so?"

Lin Bei gave a slight nod.

If he had to guess, Aleria had quietly tweaked things to raise the drop rate of supply treasure chests for his island.

Unfair as that was to other Survivors… he quite liked it.

Allies like Aleria—he wished for more; the more the merrier.

He mentally noted the favor, then turned his gaze back to the list.

superior Chests: 1,111

Fine Chests: 666

excellent Chests: 119

Perfect Chests: 18

Total Chests: 1,914

Nearly two thousand chests in all.

Counting from the day he joined the Lucky Faction, that averaged more than four hundred supply treasure chests a day over four days.

This speed… is simply unheard-of.

For any ordinary Survivor, four days wouldn't be enough—give them forty and they still wouldn't amass four hundred supply treasure chests.

After all, most Survivors can't fish for chests without a care; they must also endure extreme weather and monster raids.

On average, four or five chests a day would be a blessing from heaven.

By comparison, Lin Bei is living the dream.

With his Master-Level Fishing Rod fishing on autopilot, he can lie back and watch the supply treasure chests roll in.

Backed by the towering tree that is Aleria, his chest-acquisition rate climbs even higher—pure bliss!

He glanced at the time: already noon.

Outside, the mercury had hit 63 °C—hot enough to dig a pit, fill it with water, and poach an egg on the spot.

"Perfect timing. If I activate the gear effect now, it'll last twenty-four hours, right through tomorrow noon."

"That way it won't interfere with tomorrow's check-in and the system reward."

Lin Bei did the math, brushed the chipped pendant, and silently triggered Blessing of the Goddess of Luck.

The next instant, blinding golden light wrapped him from head to toe.

From afar he looked like a living Oscar statue.

"The hell? It's just a gear effect—why am I rocking a Legendary glow?"

He spun around, hunting for an off-switch for the gilded aura.

In the end he discovered, to his dismay,

the shimmer was part and parcel of the blessing; dispel it and his Super Luck buff would vanish too.

"Fine. Looks like my Oscar-statue phase lasts till tomorrow noon."

With a sigh he glanced back at the utterly stunned Qing Qing and shrugged. "Go arrange lunch; Nilu and Anya must be starving."

"O-okay, Master. But… your hair…"

Qing Qing pointed at his forehead, eyes narrowed, words catching in her throat.

"What? My hair?"

Startled, Lin Bei slapped a hand onto his crown.

Silky smooth—nothing there.

With Super Luck had come Super Bald.

"What the actual—"

Lin Bei's psyche cracked.

He'd merely flicked on a gear effect; who knew the price would be this steep?

"The description never listed hair-loss as a side effect. This is highway robbery!"

Scowling, he rubbed his scalp. "Hahahaha!!!"

In the golden hall, Aleria doubled over at the screen: Lin Bei, shining like a floodlight. "Serves you right for mouthing off to me, kid."

"Hmph, it's a Legendary-grade relic. Even cracked, its power is no joke—how could a puny Transcendent Three-Star endure it?"

"The tooltip never mentioned side effects, because there aren't any. Blame your own weakness—you can't handle the gift!"

"Hehehe… hahaha… I have to record this. Instant pick-me-up for gloomy days—comedy gold!"

…"Fine. Great men don't sweat the small stuff—my ass!!!"

"My glorious mane! Thick enough for a shampoo ad—gone! Fuuuuuu—"

Lin Bei simmered, vowing to hunt down a rapid hair-growth potion; he refused to parade around the island bald.

And in a few days he'd meet Bei Bei Nan Gua offline—no way was he turning up as a human lightbulb.

"Well… the Survival World has every miracle item imaginable; a premium hair-restorer can't be hard to find, right?"

He tried to sound confident; the quaver in his voice betrayed him.

"Forget it—open!"

"Hmph, every setback only makes me stronger!"

"Go, go, go—supply treasure chests, open for me!!!"

Lin Bei hit the batch-open command, blanketing nearly two thousand chests at once.

He now had Treasure Chest Keys to spare.

Not a single chest would escape!
