Chapter 135 - 135

"This woman called Blood Spirit… she's rather interesting."

"If possible…"

"Forget it, I'll observe a bit longer."

Lin Bei mused to himself. He glanced at the timer; less than two hours remained of his Super Lucky State.

From their earlier discussion, they planned to rest for half an hour before challenging the boss.

That was something he simply couldn't accept.

Half an hour!

That was enough time for him to slay the Blade Cutter a hundred times over!

Wasn't that just wasting time?

With that thought, Lin Bei decided to act.

He could also use the chance to test the woman called "Blood Spirit" and see if she fit into his upcoming plans.

Having decided, he cancelled his stealth effect and leapt straight onto the altar.

Then, as though no one else were present, he began taking out crystals one by one and fitting them into the grooves around the altar.

"Boy, what do you think you're doing!"

Lin Bei's actions instantly angered Blood War. He rose and strode over, eyes dark as he glared at Lin Bei and growled, "Right now is Blood God Hall's boss-challenge time! Any irrelevant person—get lost!"

"Or else… death without mercy!"

"Sorry, I'm in a hurry, so I'll be quick."

Lin Bei ignored the threat, smiling as he explained, "I heard you say you need half an hour to regroup. Since no one will be starting during that window, I figured I'd give it a try."

"Rest assured, once I succeed, I'll share part of the reward."

Because he wanted to recruit Blood Spirit, Lin Bei kept his tone friendly.

He understood their goal, but if they dragged it out his Super Lucky State would expire.

So he didn't mind letting them have a cut of the spoils.

Yet who could have guessed that, upon hearing this, Blood War's gaze would turn cold as he instantly erupted with Qi and Blood Power, trying to kill Lin Bei on the spot!

Lin Bei narrowed his eyes, a cold smile tugging at his lips.

But just as he prepared to counter, Blood Spirit appeared beside Blood War. Her jade-white hand rested on his shoulder as she said calmly, "Let's not create extra trouble."

"Blood Spirit! You—"

"If he wants to go, let him. Consider it an advance favor, letting him wear down the Blade Cutter for us."

Blood Spirit continued, "Surely you're not worried he'll kill the boss alone?"

"Hmph, him? Impossible!"

Hearing that, Blood War sneered. "Fine, kid—good luck! Don't think that because the boss is badly hurt you can swoop in and steal the kill!"

"When the time comes… don't blame anyone but yourself for dying!"

Blood War mocked.

Lin Bei merely smiled faintly, offering no retort. He placed the remaining crystals, then took out a challenge token and, through a corridor of black energy, stepped into the special arena where the Blade Cutter waited.

Before leaving, however, Blood Spirit walked up and handed him a blood-colored talisman.

"This is a Blood-Shadow Escape Talisman I inscribed. If you're in danger, crush it and you'll be teleported out."

"Thanks! If I'm lucky enough to beat the boss, this talisman alone earns you a world fragment in advance!"

Lin Bei smiled, pocketed the charm, and without looking back strode into the teleportation passage.

Blood Spirit shook her head with a smile.

Though the boss was wounded, it had absorbed Blood War's severed limb and partly recovered.

Soloing it was easier said than done.

She'd given him the escape talisman only so he could further wear the boss down; it was simply life insurance.

As for actually counting on him to slay the boss?

Don't be silly—how could it be that easy?

Yet the moment this thought crossed her mind, startled cries erupted behind her.

"Holy—he just… one-shot it?!"
