Chapter 2 - The Princess of Jiang

I am Yi Ning, the princess of the Kingdom of Jiang. On the day my kingdom fell, I stood on the city tower and cut my throat. I didn't jump down because I was afraid my death would look ugly and ruin my lifelong reputation.

But I never thought I would become a ghost, trapped in the Jiang royal palace, unable to take a single step out.

Time passed. I don't know how many years I stayed there, or how many dynasties I saw rise and fall.

Finally, I waited for Song Jue—the only young man who could see me, the unloved Seventh Prince of the Song Dynasty.

That time, Song Jue was burning with fever, delirious. I, who was used to life and death, didn't want to care. But who knew this child actually stared straight at me and said, "Sister, are you here to take me away?"

He can see me? I've been lonely for thousands of years! I was so excited. I pounced on him and said, "Child, you can see me?"

Song Jue's face turned red as he nodded, slightly avoiding me.

I couldn't help but reach out and touch him. I was even more delighted to find I could touch him. For thousands of years, I felt human body temperature again. I simply couldn't get enough.

"Sister," Song Jue called hoarsely, sounding quite wronged.

I looked at his young yet elegant appearance and was quite satisfied in my heart. I didn't pay attention to his resistance, like getting a toy I couldn't put down.

Song Jue's face got redder and redder until he lost consciousness. Only then did I realize in horror that the child was still sick. How careless of me!

After all, I am a thousand-year-old beautiful ghost with decent cultivation.

I went to the Imperial Hospital, selected some herbs, and started decocting them. If it weren't for the late hour when everyone was asleep, I would have scared someone to death.

I fed the medicine to the child. Unable to resist, I touched him again. I claimed to be keeping watch for him, but I was actually too excited to sleep.

At dawn, I felt sleepy. The child woke up instead. His skin turned as white as jade.

I smiled and squeezed onto his bed and said, "With no way to repay your life-saving grace, child, you must marry me, understand?"

Song Jue moved his body away in shock. His face turned red. He said, "Sister, don't be like this."

How could I agree? I pulled him into my embrace and said, "I kept watch for you all night, afraid you'd be uncomfortable anywhere. Let me hold you to sleep."

Song Jue stopped struggling. I happily fell asleep.

Humans are really so warm and soft. I hadn't slept so comfortably in many years.

As a ghost, I can't feel temperature. But touching Song Jue, I remembered the temperature and touch I had forgotten for thousands of years.

I woke up happily and played with Song Jue's long hand. His face was calm and gentle, except for the tips of his ears that were slightly red.

"Since you call me sister, from now on, you belong to me."

Before Song Jue could refuse, I started tempting him. I said, "I'm very powerful. If you become mine, I'll give you whatever you want. If anyone insults or humiliates you, I'll take their life. How about that?"

Song Jue was completely stunned. He stared at me blankly, seemingly bewitched by me. I smiled even deeper.

"What does sister want?"

A child—quite perceptive.

I looked at him and smiled faintly. I said, "What can you give me? Isn't it just sleeping and talking with me?"

Song Jue put distance between us and said, "No."

From being human to being a ghost, I've never been disobeyed. My expression darkened. I said, "You dare refuse?"

Song Jue wasn't scared by me. He turned his face away and said, "A gentleman doesn't engage in intimate relations without a matchmaker."

I laughed loudly. I had to have him, naturally because only he could see me, and only he could be touched by me. But now I discovered this child himself was really interesting.

I said, "Hahaha, sister thinks your little body is too small. It's just pure sleeping, you know? I'm a ghost, and I'm quite greedy for human temperature."

Actually, I was just stating facts, not deliberately playing the victim. Song Jue looked at me quietly, looking somewhat pitiful. He softly said, "Okay."

I didn't care if he pitied me. I achieved my goal.

I smiled, ruffled his head, stood up, and held his hand. I said, "Come, sister will take you to eat something delicious."
