Chapter 61 - Ch 61: Price of Loyalty 1

I put a flower ring around Ogi's neck, who was looking at me like he was already dead, then I gave him a shovel.

He was shaking like he had a high fever; sweat was dripping from his forehead, and he bit his teeth hard as he looked at him in fear. "What is this? Why did you bring me here?" His shaking tone caused my eyebrows to rise.

"It's a funeral wreath," I said, pointing to the flower ring I put around Ogi, then continued, "Why else did we come to the graveyard other than to bury the body? So quickly dig yourself a grave so I can bury you."

The blood of the innocent I plunge is still warm in my hand, their cry still heard in my nightmare. So just because I added Ogi to the stake didn't change anything; I am still going to hell. So I might as well take a couple of demons with me. And fortunately for Ogi, I intend to give him the first ticket.

"Quickly start digging, will you? I have class to attend. I don't have all the time." I said to Ogi, who was frozen in the place without digging.

Does he think I am joking here?

"Why?" A quiet voice echoed in the silence of the graveyard.

He seemed to say something, but I didn't quite catch it. "What?"

"I AM ASKING YOU WHY!" Ogi screamed at me. "THEY ARE THE REASON WHY I DIDN'T BECOME HEAD; THEY ARE USELESS; THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY VALUE. SO WHY THE HELL DO YOU CARE ABOUT THEM? EVEN WITH ALL THE MONEY YOU SPENT ON THEM, MAKI COULDN'T EVEN BLOCK ONE PUNCH FROM ME. THEIR ONLY USE IS TO GET BREED AND BRING THE CLAN MORE PROSPERITY, AND SHE DENIED ME OF HER DUTY TO THE CLAN. SO WHAT IF I INJURED HER? WHAT IF I ARRANGED HER MARRIAGE? EVERYONE KNOWS I'M DOING THIS FOR THE CLAN."

Hearing his outburst, I let out a sigh; it seems he was holding back a lot.

"Your loyalty to the clan is commendable, Ogi, and you sacrificing your daughter for the prosperity of the clan is something worth applauding. No words can express your loyalty, and that's why I brought you a wreath. At the least, I should give you some respect, as nobody else would." I let out a sigh of sadness to indicate his sad impending fate. "For you, there wouldn't be a traditional funeral, no gun firing in the sky, no march of clan troops, and no elders paying respect. I at least wanted to give you a proper place to die, but given what you said, I think you wouldn't need that."

I walked close to him.

I am a calm person. I am still a calm person. Most of the things I didn't care about. Of course, to not fall into self-loathing, I would do charities, but overall I didn't care; I just want to pull me into myself and live a quiet life in some countryside.

In this life I swear to not kill anyone, not to sink my dirty hand into blood again, but once again life gives me a hard slap across the face.

To live is to betray oneself; if you don't do that, you will die young, and I am a coward to die young. So I will cling to life like a tick. Until old age gets me.

"You know, I never enjoyed killing anyone; I kill as a means to an end." I looked straight into Ogi's eyes as I activated my Blinding Vow. "But killing you, annoying little bug, I am going to enjoy it very, very much."

"If you kill me, your title as heir will get damaged, which you can't repair. You won't even become heir in the worst case; I already made sure of it." Ogi said in a confident tone; his slight tremble in his knee suggested that he was just putting on an act.

Normally, what Ogi said is a good threat.

"You already struck oil; quit drilling, will you?" I said with laughter.

Ogi, realizing that the threat didn't work, started to sweat like crazy; he knew he couldn't run away from Naoya, who mastered a technique that is directly related to speed. And for strength, the moment Ogi felt that Blinding Vow had activated, he knew there was no escape. But he still didn't breakdown.

"If you don't kill me, I will leave Maki and Mai alone."

"Killing you would do the job just the same but much better."

Ogi curses his past self for following Naoya to the grave, believing that he wouldn't touch him as the heir to Zenin. But now facing this monster, Ogi started to breathe heavily; it felt like his heat was going to give up from the sheer pressure and killing intent. Naoya was focusing on him.

"See you in hell, Ogi Zenin." Just as I raised my fist at frozen Ogi, who looked like he passed out from standing, a voice called me.

"Stop, you crazy bastard; I told you I have already dealt with him."
