Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: One Slash Raises Questions

Three energy serpent runes lunged toward Zevaron, though their speed was not as fast as the energy serpent runes binding Tivana.

A magic circle formed in front of Tivana. However, cracks spread from the center of the magic circle. The magic circle formed by Tivana finally shattered. The fragments scattered in all directions before fading and vanishing into the air.

Tivana's breathing was shallow and rapid. Her vision began to darken around the edges, forcing her eyelids to droop heavily against her slowly collapsing consciousness.

Tivana's body struck the stone floor. Her body lay limp.

Keira landed; she immediately turned around, her gaze sweeping over the closed stone door that no longer radiated the light of runes and formations. "This door must have weakened."

Blows were unleashed. Keira's punches struck the door with a loud sound like a gong being struck repeatedly.

Behind her, Zevaron landed perfectly. "" A magic circle formed in front of Zevaron, the cold air beginning to condense—an ice needle the size of an index finger had taken shape.

The ice needle sliced through the air; as the ice needle moved, the surrounding air temperature dropped.

The ice needle suddenly split into three parts. Each struck an energy serpent rune.

Without the slightest resistance, the ice needles shattered upon colliding with the energy serpent runes.

Magic energy began to surge violently, every Mana Circuit inside his body flooded with magic energy.

The crystal surrounded by spinning runes vibrated gently, an invisible shockwave released.

"Kh...!" Zevaron's breath caught, his magic energy that had been surging from his magic energy channels suddenly surged back into his Mana Core. Cold sweat flowed heavily from Zevaron's forehead, his chest also feeling cold. "What was that just now?!" He muttered stiffly. Almost simultaneously, his body was suddenly paralyzed, unable to move.

"Kh...!" Keira's breath caught, she reflexively turned around. The three energy serpent runes were closing in on Zevaron. "Zevaron, look out!" Keira screamed.

Keira's right hand grabbed the wrist of Zevaron's left arm, which was still immobile. She pulled Zevaron toward her.

Keira released her grip. The magic energy inside her Mana Core surged like a tidal wave.

Keira slammed her right foot onto the stone floor. A shockwave rushed forward, expanding further as it advanced until it looked like a fan-shaped area attack. The energy serpent runes hit the shockwave, yet the energy serpent runes continued moving forward despite vibrating violently.

However, the energy serpent runes stopped suddenly. All three energy serpent runes froze mid-air.

Keira's body was slowly lifted upward. Her hand gripping Zevaron's wrist was released without her own volition.

From deep within Keira—an urge to break free surged. But unfortunately, her body did not follow her will. Her body could not be moved at all.

The magic formation on the surface of the crystal began to change, the formation rotating once. The runes surrounding the formation began to shift shape.

Once the transformation stopped—a golden vertical slash burst out from the formation.

The vertical slash flew toward Keira.

The magic energy inside Zevaron's Mana Core surged violently, his Mana Circuits funneling magic energy outward like a flood.

Zevaron's magic energy tried to create a magic circle. However, because Zevaron's mastery over his magic was not like Tivana's, he could not use incantationless magic.

Commands from Zevaron's brain spread throughout his body. The command was to move quickly, yet his body did not respond at all.

The vertical slash passed through Keira's body right at the center of her torso. A golden light burst out from within her body. Even though Keira remained still, the golden light began to condense and independently transform into three dimensions until it took the form of a glowing golden girl that looked identical to her. That figure hovered in front of Keira.

Keira's pupils shrank to the size of a needle, "What is that?"

The runes on the crystal's surface shifted once again. Followed by the rotation and transformation of the formation.

Once the transformation ended, the girl who resembled Keira flew toward the crystal.

The girl resembling Keira passed through the crystal without the slightest obstacle. A bright blue light radiated intensely from the crystal. That light lasted for only a moment before dimming.

Keira's body fell down. At the same time, Zevaron's body suddenly became mobile again.

Keira landed. Zevaron ran toward her, in a fraction of a second already moving in front of Keira.

The wind blew hard behind him, making their clothes and hair flutter.

Zevaron's gaze swept across Keira's entire body, "Are you alright?" He blurted out in panic.

"I'm fine, so calm down," Keira said in a casual tone.

Keira's eyebrows twitched up and down rapidly several times, "Did you catch Luna's habits because the two of you are together so often?" Keira asked in a teasing tone.

"Enough, you've said that hundreds of times already." Zevaron turned around, shifting his gaze to Tivana lying weakly on the stone floor, "Instead of discussing that, it's better if we help her."

Keira scratched her head, "But how are we going to help free her?"

Before Zevaron had time to answer, a fluctuation of magic energy surged from Tivana.

Keira turned around, her eyebrows lowering, her eyes narrowing.

Zevaron narrowed his eyes, magic circles forming in the air around him—ready to unleash an attack or defense.

The energy serpent runes binding her transformed back into glowing golden runes. The runes moved backward toward the crystal.

Now, all that remained there was Tivana lying unconscious without a single energy serpent rune binding her.

"Looks like it's safe now." He muttered while scanning the area around Tivana.

A few seconds passed, "Keira, let's do it."

Zevaron and Keira ran forward. Once close to Tivana, both of Zevaron's hands grabbed Tivana's right arm while Keira grabbed Tivana's left arm.

Zevaron and Keira slammed their left feet onto the stone floor. They pivoted 90°, a surprising maneuver considering they were running at high speed. Now Tivana's body was being dragged by the two of them.

Zevaron and Keira immediately sprinted. Their speed sliced through the air.

In less than a second, they were in front of the room's exit door.

Zevaron and Keira looked at each other before nodding at the same time.

The magic energy inside both of their Mana Cores swirled and was funneled by their Mana Circuits toward their right hands.

Transparent magic energy coated their right hands, the magic energy blazing like fire yet not fire.

They unleashed a punch, the air along the punch path splitting apart. Both of their hands struck the door.

GOOONGGG!

A deafening sound spread throughout the entire room. The sound echoed off every wall, causing the noise to repeat continuously until it could no longer be heard.

KRAKK!

A small crack formed. Small cracks spread rapidly across the entire door. The stone door finally collapsed. The stone pieces constructing it fell apart—landing on the stone floor.

Zevaron and Keira jumped forward while pulling the unconscious Tivana along.

"Wait a minute, how are we supposed to get out of here?" Keira threw out the question while scratching her head. "There was no exit in that room earlier." Keira chimed in.

Zevaron facepalmed, "How could I forget about that."
