Chapter 2 - Summons

Vesh opened his Inventory, and its window appeared in his mind.

[Inventory]

— D-rank Woodcutting Axe.

— D-rank Pickaxe.

— 1 x D-rank Weapon Choice Box.

— 3 x Normal Summon Tickets.

'Let's use the tickets first.'

Vesh took out the tickets.

[Normal Summon Ticket]

— Tear it to activate.

Reading the description, Vesh tore the ticket.

It shattered into golden motes that formed a two-meter radius portal with whirling darkness bordered by golden sparks.

'Who or what will come out?'

[You have summoned a Dwarf—Arganis Vektar (Seed).]

A dwarf clad in a layered tunic and brown pants emerged from the swirling darkness.

He floated through the portal like a leaf drifting on water, completely horizontal, arms and legs splayed, looking unconscious.

He took a step back.

'Looks strong.' Vesh noted the dwarf's mass and muscles.

'And big for a dwarf, right? He is almost the same height as me, who is 6 feet.' Vesh thought as he saw the dwarf's full body.

After the dwarf fully emerged from the portal and slowly landed on the ground below, his eyes shot open abruptly.

For a moment, his eyes remained in daze as he got up and looked at Vesh. And then, they swirled with confusion.

"Hi." Vesh blinked and stretched his hand.

The dwarf took his hand and got up. "Boy, I can't remember anything except my name. And there's a voice telling me I am your subject, and you are my king."

Vesh shook his hand, which the dwarf was already grabbing. "That seems to be the case. My name is Vesh."

"Arganis Vektar. You can call me Arga. I am a warrior and a blacksmith." Arga introduced himself. "However, as I told you, I can't remember anything about my life. I thought about punching you after seeing you, but I can't do that. And I have to obey you. Can't say I like this."

Vesh wryly smiled. "Why?"

"Instinct, I suppose. Can't tell for sure as I don't have any memories." Arga looked at his hands. "But I remember my skills."

"Yep. That you do." Vesh smiled as he could see Arga's status in his mind.

[Vektar Arganis]

[Life Rank: Seed]

[Combat Power: 1749]

— Titles —

[Sword of Maragaya]

[Fragile Forge Master]

— Talents —

[Blacksmith | A-rank | Potential: 2✧/20✧]

[Swordsman | C-rank | Potential: 10✧/10✧]

[Fire Mastery | C-rank | Potential: 10✧/10✧]

'The potential of talents…' Vesh's eyes glinted. 'But what are those potential numbers about?'

[The potential of each talent is fixed. One must hone one's talents to reach one's full potential. Only after reaching its full potential will a talent be allowed to rank up. Naturally, ranking up requires a catalyst. Talents won't just rank up once you reach their full potential.]

'I see…'

"Arga. You are a blacksmith and a swordsman, right? Which of the two do you think you're best at?"

Arga crossed his arms and shook his head. "Not even a question. I am best as a swordsman."

'As expected. So he has reached peak as a swordsman for now, but he hasn't reached the peak as a blacksmith.'

"Anyway, what are we going to do now?" Argal looked around. "There's nothing here."

"We are going to build things." Vesh grinned as he took out the Woodcutting Axe. "Here, use this to cut the trees."

Arga took the axe and saw its details, which made his eyes wide. "Huh? Is there a magic like this?"

[Woodcutting Axe]

-Rank: D

-Description:

—> Cuts D-rank or lower-ranked trees into wood blocks upon touch.

"It says it is, so go and check it." Vesh chuckled. "I have two more summon tickets, so I'll use them first."

"More amnesiac people? It's going to be fun." Arga laughed and went to cut the trees.

Vesh used the second ticket.

The same portal opened, and a person came out. Dark blue skin, elven ears, and wrinkles on the skin. She wore a tribal-style white-brown dress with a large bead necklace and similar style bracelets.

[You have summoned a Night Elf—Rovina Estel (Seed)]

[Rovina Estel]

[Life Rank: Seed]

[Combat Power: 1949]

— Titles —

[Shaman of Duality]

— Talents —

[Darkness Mastery | C-rank | Potential: 10✧/10✧]

[Light Mastery | C-rank | Potential: 10✧/10✧]

[Botanist | C-rank | Potential: 9✧/10✧]

Vesh was surprised.

Darkness and Light mastery both at full potential.

'She does look old, and she is an elf, so she must be very old.'

Rovina opened her eyes as soon as she touched the ground.

"Hello, Rovina."

Vesh stretched his hand as he spoke, attracting her attention.

Rovina blinked and stood up using Vesh's hand, looking at him curiously with confusion while she processed the words ringing in her head telling her she was a subject of this young king.

"It appears that I'll be living the last years of my life without knowing anything about my past." Rovina ruefully smiled, her eyes rippling with sadness. "I can't remember anything, but a sense of loss gnaws at my heart."

Vesh scratched the back of his head, awkwardly smiling. "Sorry about that. I remember everything about my life, and I was about to die, but instead, here I am. I got summon tickets and used them to summon you."

"How old are you, by the way, and how many years do you have left?" He curiously asked.

"I am almost a thousand years old. Only several decades left now."

Vesh wryly smiled. 'So same as me…unless elevating Life Rank increases lifespan as well.'

"A human, and a dwarf, and an elf." Rovina looked at Arga faraway cutting the trees. "I have appeared at quite a place by some higher power, it seems."

'Is the ticket picking up random people from different worlds, erasing their memories, and sending them to me?' Vesh wondered.

[No. All these people are those who had died once.]

Vesh got a startling answer.

'So that's the case.'

"Since I am here, I'll live in your service." Rovina looked at her hands after saying to Vesh. "I don't seem to have a choice about this anyway."

A dark orb and a light orb appeared on her palms.

"I can use Darkness and Light, and I seem to remember some moves."

Rovina looked at the light orb as it suddenly multiplied into ten and adjusted their brightness, becoming light bulbs.

Vesh smiled. "Well, we won't have to live in complete darkness at night with this. Thank you."

"I have some questions. How long do these bright orbs last?" He asked.

"At this intensity, 10 hours."

"Great."

"I can also heal wounds, and with Darkness, I can do a variety of things as well." Roving closed her palms as the elemental constructs vanished and looked around. "So, what are we doing first?"

"Here." Vesh took out the pickaxe and gave it to her. "Take this magical pickaxe and gather the stone blocks. I have one more summon ticket left, so I'll use it first."

"Alright."

Rovina left with the pickaxe, and Vesh took out the third ticket.

'Then I have to leave the territory range to explore. That should complete the quest.'

Vesh tore the third ticket.

What came out of the portal startled him.

'The fuck?'

[You have summoned a human—Kayan Goldmist (Seed)]

He wasn't startled that he summoned a human.

Nope.

He was shocked because he summoned a child.

A human kid looking around twelve years old.

He wore black pants, a white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. Totally not how a twelve-year-old usually dresses.

[Kayan Goldmist]

[Life Rank: Seed]

[Combat Power: 2449]

— Titles —

[Slaughterer of Stardust Island]

— Talents —

[Blood Mastery | A-rank | Potential 12✧/25✧]

[Bloodthirsty Drive | B-rank | Potential 9✧/20✧]

'Huh?' Vesh was dumbfounded. 'A kid with these talents and title…what the…'

Kayan's eyes shot open. His nose twitched, and he sprang up like a monkey while his hand shot towards Vesh like a dagger.

But it stopped right before touching his neck.

Kayan stared at Vesh and then at his trembling hand that couldn't move forward,d no matter how much he tried.

Vesh took some steps back before falling on his butt.

"You scared the heck out of me." Vesh weakly smiled.

Kayan hissed before he looked around and stood straight, retracting his hand.

"What is going on?"

"Where am I?"

"What is this voice telling me in the head?"

Staring back at Vesh after looking around, he added a fourth question. "Why do I have to listen to you?"

Vesh dusted his butt as he stood up and stretched his hand. "Well…you don't have to listen to me, but that might not bode well for us."

"Are you threatening me?" Kayan narrowed his eyes.

Vesh wryly smiled. "Look, kid. I know you experienced one hell of a life that you don't remember anymore. Honestly, you shouldn't have gone through whatever you went through to become like this at your age."

Kayan frowned.

"So here's the picture." Vesh stretched his hand forward for a handshake. "It's a new life for me here just as much as it's new for you and those other two, so how about we cooperate to survive and build our life?"
