By evening, the neighborhood was buzzing.

Word of the clean, cheap, fully-functional laundromat had spread like wildfire. By 6 PM, every machine was in use, and a small, patient line had formed near the door.

Jake was in his element, joking with customers, carrying baskets for the elderly, and generally acting as the self-appointed "brand ambassador" of Sunshine Wash.

Leo stood in the corner, watching everything.

He wasn't just watching customers.

He was watching the neighborhood.

He was watching the street cameras.

He was watching for anyone who might be sent by the Morgan Group.

So far, nothing.

They still had no idea.

"Boss!" Jake called, jogging over with a crumpled piece of paper. "I just counted the cash. You're not gonna believe this — we're already close to breaking even. Like… really close."

Leo nodded calmly. He already knew. His Market Analysis Eye had been feeding him real-time data all day: revenue, customer flow, projected profit, even estimated long-term value.

A faint headache hummed at his temple — a reminder that the skill was not free.

But he wasn't here to celebrate small victories.

He was here to start a war.

"Jake," Leo said, "I need you to take photos. Clear, bright photos. Show the working machines. Show the crowd. Show how full this place is."

Jake's eyes lit up. "Got it! For the 'gram? For TikTok? I can do a voiceover like — 'From zero to laundry hero!'"

Leo's expression turned sharp.

"For the Morgan Group."

Jake froze.

"...Wait. You're gonna send them proof?"

"I'm gonna send them a warning," Leo corrected. "They've ignored this place for months. They thought it was dead. Now they're going to learn that their carelessness just became their biggest problem."

He paused, his voice cold and steady.

"Let them know who did it."

Jake swallowed hard, then grinned.

"Boss… you're evil. I love it."

He grabbed his phone and started snapping photos from every angle: full rooms, busy machines, smiling customers, clean floors.

Every image was a silent threat.

Every image was proof of failure.

Every image was a direct attack on Harrison Morgan's leadership.

Thirty minutes later, in the corporate office of Morgan Real Estate Group.

Harrison Morgan — Derek's father — sat behind a massive oak desk, scrolling through reports with a scowl.

The mall project was draining cash.

Suppliers were demanding payment.

Investors were growing nervous.

He was already on edge.

Then his administrative assistant knocked lightly on the door and entered, looking confused.

"Sir… you need to see this."

She set a phone down in front of him, showing the photos Jake had taken — anonymously sent to the company's official feedback email.

Sunshine Wash.

Busy.

Clean.

Profitable-looking.

Harrison's eyes narrowed.

"That dump?" he muttered. "It's been losing money for a year. Who fixed it?"

The assistant hesitated.

"The email… it had a name. Leo Carter."

Harrison's scowl deepened. He didn't recognize the name.

"Find out who he is," he snapped. "And find out how he turned that place around. I want to know everything."

The assistant nodded quickly and left.

Harrison leaned back in his chair, staring at the photos.

A nobody had taken one of his failing properties… and fixed it.

In days.

It was embarrassing.

Insulting.

And worst of all…

It made him look incompetent.

His fingers tapped angrily on the desk.

"Leo Carter," he muttered. "You're making a mistake."

Derek walked into Harrison's office a moment later, his usual cocky grin on his face — and it faded the second he saw his father's cold expression. "What's wrong, Dad?"

Harrison slammed the phone down on the desk, the photos of Sunshine Wash staring up at them. "Forget about that laundry boy for now. Get the mall's investment prospectus on my desk by tonight. The investors are breathing down my neck, and if we lose this deal, you'll be the one cleaning out your desk — not some nobody in Brooklyn."

Derek's swagger vanished in an instant. He mumbled a quick "Yes, sir" and fumbled to pick up the stack of documents Harrison tossed at him, his fingers tightening around the pages until his knuckles whitened. His big night at the rooftop party, his mocking post about Leo — it had all been a distraction, a way to hide the panic churning in his gut over the mall project. He left the office, pulled out his phone, and stared at the photo of Leo wiping the laundromat counter. He spat out a curse, calling Leo a loser, but he didn't delete the photo. It was the only thing that made him feel like he still had the upper hand.

Back at Sunshine Wash, Leo checked his phone.

The email had been opened.

[DING!]

[Morgan Group has been alerted to your activity.]

[Host has gained the attention of a major rival.]

[Caution: Host is now marked for observation.]

Leo smiled faintly.

Observation was good.

Let them watch.

Let them wonder.

Let them panic.

Jake walked over, noticing the look on Leo's face.

"Did it work?" he asked quietly.

Leo looked up, his eyes dark and determined.

"It worked," he said.

"Now they know I exist.

Now they know I'm coming.

And now… the real game begins."
