Once, there lived a poor woodcutter named Ahmad. Every day, he went to the forest, gathered wood, and sold it in the market to buy a small piece of bread for his family. Despite his poverty, Ahmad was a man of great faith. He always said, "Alhamdulillah, Allah is the Best of Providers."
One morning, while Ahmad was chopping a heavy branch, his only axe—the tool he used to earn his living—slipped from his hand and fell into a deep, fast-flowing river.
Ahmad sat by the riverbank, feeling a moment of deep sadness. He had no money to buy a new axe, and without it, his family would go hungry. However, instead of despairing, he raised his hands and prayed:
> "O Allah, You are the one who gives and the one who takes. I trust in Your plan."
>
Just then, a traveler passed by and saw Ahmad praying. The traveler, who was actually a wealthy merchant, was moved by the woodcutter's calm faith. He approached Ahmad and said, "I have seen your patience. I am looking for an honest man to manage my orchards in the city. Will you come with me?"
Ahmad's life changed instantly. Not only did he get a better job, but he also earned enough to provide a comfortable life for his family. He realized that the loss of his axe was actually a door to a much greater blessing.
Moral of the Story
When a door closes in your life, do not lose hope. Allah often takes something small away from you only to give you something much better. As the Quran says:
> "And whoever fears Allah—He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." (Surah At-Talaq, 2-3)
